“The Redskins, they reached out to me right after the draft within 10 minutes of the last pick, right around that time,” Marley told Redskins.com. “Then there was the Saints and Cardinals, they also extended the same rookie camp invite. I chose Washington, I had a good conversation and something just told me to come here so I chose Washington. The Saints, I was in New Orleans for four years. I just really felt Washington.”

Like his beloved Jamaican father, Rohan Marley is a devoted Rastafarian. In his many online posts, he makes that very clear and in his b-day post to Lauryn Hill (shown above), instead of wishing her a ‘happy birthday,’ he sent her the “BLESSED EARTH STRONG” salute. ‘Blessed (or happy) earth strong’ is the common Jamaican patois phrase used among Rastas, to represent the number of years one has been going strong on this earth.

Zephaniah is the son of Lauryn’s and Rohan’s 20 year old son, Zion Marley (shown above). Rohan refers to Lauryn as their grandson’s “Bama,” although it’s unclear what that means. Anywho, needless to say, little Zephaniah is gonna have quite the multicultural upbringing- his grandmommy’s soulful/hip hop roots; his grandpops’ Rasta roots; his great-grandpops’ Rasta roots and half Syrian-Jewish bloodline; his daddy, Zion’s, hip hop roots; and his mother, Tanasa’s….well not much is really known about Zephaniah’s mother (shown below), but she’s beautiful though.

Lauryn’s Rarely Seen Sixth Child & Past Confusion About His Dad

While we’re on the topic of Lauryn’s offspring, let us share with y’all new photos of her rarely seen 6 year old son, Micah Hill. Lauryn’s lil’ man will be turning 7 this year (2018) and his big sister, Selah (Sarah) Marley, showed him love online recently. Check out the pics below…

Together Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley share 5 children. Rohan also has two older children from a prior relationship. For the longest, fans had assumed that Lauryn’s sixth child, Micah, was Rohan’s son, because most did not know they’d broken up after 10 years. In 2011, shortly after giving birth to Micah (who’s real father’s identity remains a secret) Lauryn released a statement to fans about Rohan:

“Mr. Marley and I have a long and complex history about which MANY inaccuracies have been reported since the beginning,” Hill wrote on her website. “To speculate without the facts can only cause people to form WRONG conclusions.”

Prior to Lauryn releasing her statement, many fans bashed Rohan for ‘not supporting’ Lauryn throughout her pregnancy with Micah, due to their assumptions that he was Micah’s dad. However, out of his respect for Lauryn, Rohan refrained from letting the public know the child was not his. He left that up to Lauryn to clear up, before speaking on the topic in 2011:

“People would rather listen to gossip than hear from the actual individuals,” Rohan Marley tweeted. “Some people just don’t want the truth.”

Rohan Expressed Regret After Split

Following their split, Rohan did an interview expressing how much he still loved Lauryn and the regrets he has:

“I feel sad that I loved her so much and I faltered in expressing it to her somehow. It was my fault that she did not understand how I felt, and it was sad that we did not work out in that relationship sense. I was heartbroken for a long time.”

Video Of What Happened

Marley’s granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast, and her associates were apparently minding their own business in a Rialto neighborhood o April 30, 2018, when all of sudden cops pull up and told them they were under investigation for burglarizing homes. That’s when everything went left:

Via The Blast: Prendergast claims a white neighbor called 911 and reported them as “suspicious” because they did not wave at her. Police have said the neighbor had said that three black people were “stealing stuff.” Shortly after the call, Prendergast says armed officers responded to the scene and told them they were under investigation for committing a felony. According to Prendergast, a fourth person was with them at the time of the incident — a white woman — but Prendergast says the neighbor only reported the three black people.

Donisha Prendergrast also wrote this on Instagram:

“Got surrounded by the police for being black in a white neighbourhood,” she explained on Instagram. “I’m sad and irritated to see that fear is still the first place police officers go in their pursuit to serve and protect, to the point that protocol supersedes their ability to have discernment. Many have suffered and died in moments like these. That’s a crazy reality check”

Thankfully Bob Marley’s grandbaby and her friends thought quick on their feet by recording the fiasco and remaining calm, which as we all know by now, still is no guarantee that a Black person will not end up getting shot by cops at random…especially in a quote unquote “nice neighborhood.”

Following the police incident, Donisha Pendergrast spoke with words that are reminiscent of her grandfather. She explained why she’s decided to take action against the police department:

Via UrbanIsandz: “We cannot remove ourselves from situations that continue to implicate our brothers and sisters in a spiritual, physical, emotional and psychological war,” Prendergast said. “It is the inaction of those who could have and didn’t that has left our world in the state it is today. Our blood is shared, so are our joys and pains. When the rain falls, it doesn’t just fall on one man’s house top… So don’t you forget who you are and where you stand in the struggle.”

Like we said earlier, Bob Marley’s granddaughter is a product of him, so she will not take that unjust incident lightly. That’s why she’s called up some of the most prominent lawyers around to represent her in a new lawsuit she’s filed aganst the Rialto police department for racial profiling her and her two Black friends as well:

Despite his famous last name, ‘Jr. Gong’ has made a musical name for himself in his own right. Just like he inherited his Pop’s musical genes, he also inherited his father’s love of smoking marijuana- or “reefer” like the old schoolers used to say back in the day. Anywho, that brings us to our next point…

We all know that Bob Marley was all about his love of ‘ganja,’ but he didn’t just smoke weed to relax, smoking weed was apart of his religion. After leaving his Christianity upbringing behind in the 1960’s, Bob converted to the Rastafarian religion. Rastas often refer to weed as “The Holy Herb” and consider it to be sacred, smoking it not just for the high, but to gain a better understanding of their religion and the universe. In addition, Bob Marley also believed that marijuana had the power to heal.

A Prison Into A Pot Profit

Like his father, Damian Marley is a follower of Rastafarian and he, too, believes in the power of “the Holy herb.” So much so, that he’s making a business of it, in a major way…

In a place that once locked people up for possessing, selling, and growing marijuana, Damian is now planning to take the Claremont Custody Center, a prison in Coalinga, CA and convert the former 77,000 square foot prison into a cannabis grow space. In conjunction with Ocean Grown Extracts, Marley spoke with Billboard magazine and shared his plans of using the space to grow medical marijuana for state dispensaries.

“Many people sacrificed so much for the herb over the years who got locked up, says Marley. If this [venture] helps people and it’s used for medicinal purposes and inspires people, it’s a success,” explained Damian Marley.

The Jobs & Business Damian’s Prison Pot Biz’ Brings To The Community

Some people view Damian’s new business venture as controversial, but despite the chatter about what he’s doing, no one can deny how it will help the community. You see, the city of Coalinga has already benefited from Marley and his partners purchasing the prison. The prison to pot farm will generate jobs for the community as well as eliminate a 3.3 million debt as the cost of the center was 4.1 million. Marley is so excited about his new venture that he recorded a song with his older brother, Stephen Marley, called Medication. The video begins with the voices of people praising marijuana for medical purposes acknowledging the power of the cannabis. As the video continues, both Jr. Gong and Stephen are seen turning a prison into an actual weed farm. They also stroll through rows of herb plants, light up in the prison yard, all while people in lab coats look over the plants. While watching the video, you might believe that the story of the Marley brothers using a prison as a marijuana farm is fictional, but it’s actually true.

Part Owner Of A Weed Magazine & Owner Of A New Weed Brand

Damian Marley has taken his love for cannabis to another level as he has a vested interest in the most famous marijuana publication, High Times.

According to TMZ, Marley is one of 20 investors that is apart of an investment group that bought a controlling interest in the magazine, High Times. The magazine has been around for a number of years and the publication specializes in showing people the best ways to grow, roll, and consume the finest blends of marijuana. Not only has the High Times magazine educated everyday folk but the magazine has even been helpful for rastas like Damian. Marley shared with TMZ that reading HT taught him how to differentiate between male and female cannabis plants. Good thing — he’s also producing his own line of weed as co-founder of Stony Hill.

Damian adds, “High Times had me daydreaming of so many beautiful strains that at the time I had not yet had the chance to experience.”
