After watching the BET Awards last night (or as much as I could stomach of it), there were two things that were re-affirmed for me: (1) The award show itself is still produced with great quality; (2) BUT most of the new talent presented on the show has taken an all time dive -or better yet- a plummet to the depths of the earth.

It’s no secret that a large portion of today’s ‘mainstream’ music tends to oftentimes sound like hot garbage that can destroy our kids’ brain cells by the millisecond. It’s also no secret that there are still some very talented artists out there who are being recognized for their work as well…thankfully.

That brings us to the latest debate and controversy regarding newcomer rapper, Cardi B, versus Jay Z, Beyoncé, and several other artists. Mary J. Blige had a lil’ somethin’ to say about this too, but we’ll get to that, as well as her epic performance, in a sec.’…

But First…Why Fans Are Pissed Off…

In case y’all haven’t heard, Cardi B won the ‘Album of the Year’ BET Award for her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy.” Nominated in that same category were Meek Mill’s  “Championship,” Travis Scott’s “Astroworld,” Ella Mai’s self-titled album, and Jay Z & Beyonce’s “Everything Is Love” album.

All of the aforementioned artists are arguably more seasoned artists than Cardi B, and also had major hits off of their nominated albums. Thus, the reason why many fans are hella pissed off with BET for granting the top spot to Cardi B.

Doing Too Much

After giving birth to her daughter Kulture back in July 2018 Cardi admitted to having breast augmentation surgery in an attempt to reshape her body. Afterwards there were rumors of additional plastic surgery that she originally denied. But CNN reports that in early May she admitted to another round of surgery during a show in Tennessee.

And after initially denying additional surgery, she later said earlier this month at a concert in Tennessee that she underwent liposuction. “I have some news for y’all. I should have canceled today,” she told the crowd. “I shouldn’t really be performing because moving too much is gonna f*** up my lipo.”

She should have taken her own advice because she eventually cancelled a few more shows because of complications from not getting the proper rest. Now, she’s experiencing terrible side effects.

Latasha says she runs a YouTube channel with 500k followers and runs various other successful social media accounts for her celebrity blog.

She admits publishing a video with another blogger in which they talked about Cardi B. She claims Cardi then reached out to her privately and asked her to remove the video.

Cardi B Sues 

Earlier this year, Cardi B sued bloggers Latasha K and Starmine Ebony Jones. She accused them of defaming by calling her a prostitute and claiming she had herpes.

Cardi took issue with various things Latasha K posted about her, including talking about her baby Kulture. Starmine made accusations that Cardi did drugs including molly and cocaine.

She sued them for defamation and sought unspecified damages and also wanted an injunction ordering the videos to be taken offline.

Latasha claims she offered to do an interview with Cardi to discuss her issues but Cardi declined.

The world has come to enjoy Cardi B, wholeheartedly. However, she’s not playing about her catch phrase. But you’ll have to let her explain it, best.

By this point, you definitely know Cardi B’s tongue-rolling “Okurrr,” by sound. While often imitated and requested, the rapper also recognizes the money-making potential in her phrase.

Cardi is getting tons of deals/offers. And according to a video response she posted, it’s often asked that she say “Okurrr.”

But people are mad about it without understanding her point…

You have to understand the business aspect of what she’s doing. In her response, Cardi mentioned as follows.

“Wait, wait, wait, wait…so you h*es is mad I trademarked ‘Okurrr’?? Let me tell you something. Every single time I go to a corporate meeting, these folks be like, ‘Oh my god. Can we just please hear you say ‘Okurrr’? Everytime I go to a TV show: ‘Hey…hey…can you teach me how to say ‘Okurrr’??…Every time I go to do a commercial, ‘Hey, can you finish it off with ‘Okurrr’?”

From that perspective, she’d be crazy not to trademark it, right?

Watch Denzel’s Surprising Cardi B Impression:

In case y’all thought Denzel wasn’t abreast to the hip hop world, you thought wrong. Washington is currently doing press rounds, promoting his latest project, “The Iceman Cometh,” a highly anticipated Broadway revival. While Denzel was mingling with various reporters and flashing his legendary smile, a journalist asked him a question that he wasn’t expecting. Instead of asking Denzel about his career or various roles, he was asked if he was a fan of Cardi B. To the surprise of many, Denzel started spittin’ lyrics from Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow.”

“What he want. he buy me Yves Saint Laurent. And a new whip,” [Denzel] recited, while being interviewed by The Root during a press run for Broadway’s ‘The Iceman Cometh.’ “You thought I didn’t know. I dip, you dip, we dip,” he continued.

What’s also dope about the clip, is that the 63 year-old legend was visibly proud for being able to let these youngins out here know that he keeps his ears to the streets too. Not only did Denzel spit some of his favorite Cardi B lines, he also gave her some solid advice:

“Stay true to herself. Don’t believe the hype. Keep it real, for real,” Washington said.

Cardi B. caught wind of Denzel reciting her lyrics and she shared the clip to her Instagram page. Humbled by Denzel being a fan, Cardi B. said she’s taken the advice and is staying true to herself. Check out Denzel’s interview clip below:

Denzel Washington isn’t the only big named star that’s a Cardi B fan, apparently Taraj P. Henson is as well. While promoting her newest film, “Acrimony,” the “Proud Mary” star was asked about her love for Cardi B. Henson made it known that she was a fan when she once posted a photo of Cardi with the following caption:

“SHINE BABY SHINE!!!! Was following you when you had 70K followers Proud of you!!! Keep puttin in that WERK!”

During an interview with ‘Clevver News’ on Monday, April 2nd, the “Empire” star was asked to do her best impression of Cardi B and she was more than ready. Using Cardi’s signature laugh, along with her tongue out pose, Henson got into character and said: “Gimme that shmoney” and a Cardi B-famous saying, “Okurrrr!”

On Saturday morning (April 7, 2018), Cardi heard about Oprah’s shout out and she didn’t hold back her gratitude toward the queen. She posted a screenshot of Oprah’s post, with the caption:
