Whenever you hear the name Wayans, you probably associate the name with lots of talent and laughter. So it comes as no surprise that Damon Wayans Jr. is an apple that didn’t fall far from the family tree. Damon Jr. is a talented actor, scriptwriter, and stand-up comedian, just like his pops, Damon Sr. In fact, he’s made quite a name for himself over the years and he’s now a celebrity in his own right. Now, the 39-year-old actor has children of his own, but most fans probably don’t know he and Miami Heat star, Dwyane Wade, have a child by the same woman.

Remember when Dwyane Wade had a love-child with another woman during the time he and Gabrielle Union were “taking a break?” Well, Damon Wayans Jr. also has kids with the same woman — Aja Metoyer (pictured at bottom of this article).

When details surfaced about Wade’s love-child, of course, the reports sparked a media firestorm. At the time, Damon Jr. (pictured in a throwback photo below with wife, Samara Saraiva; and his daughter, Aniya, whom he shares with ex, Aja Meteoyer) asked about the situation, and he revealed that although he and Aja were high school sweethearts with lots of history, they lead totally different lives now. The famed actor made it clear that his daughters are his priority when it comes to Aja, according to Madame Noir:

“I really have nothing to do with Aja’s situation. We both live completely separate lives, aside from co-parenting. My concern is my daughters and that they don’t get hurt in any of this,” said Damon Wayans Jr.

Damon Jr. went on to confirm that his daughters “love their little brother [Xavier Wade] and that’s all I care about.” But, of course, Damon knows about the dark side of fame, which is why he didn’t want his daughters being dragged into all the drama.

A Break Baby?

Although the media drama has subsided now, there are still whispers about whether or not Dwyane and Aja’s son, Xavier, is a “break baby.” Shortly after details surfaced about Aja’s pregnancy, she was immediately labeled as a “side chick,” a “homewrecker,” and any other undesirable name you can think of…despite Dwyane’s claims about ‘taking a break’ from his relationship with Gabrielle Union at the time of Xavier Wade’s conception.

Although Dwyane adamantly insists he didn’t ‘cheat’ on Gabrielle, Aja was still dragged by many of their fans. During a prior interview with OK! magazine, Aja finally decided to set the record straight about her relationship with the retired NBA baller. Aja claims it’s all very simple: numbers don’t lie.

“I think that a little bit of mathematics needs to be done. I’ve known the person ten years,” Aja explained. “My son is not a break baby. He’s almost four. Do the math,” she continued. “I’ve never been a mistress, side chick, any of those things,” she insisted. “I’m not a homewrecker… I wish I was a little Jezebel, you know? It might have worked out for me better that way,” she joked. But on a serious note, Aja revealed she knows how it feels to be cheated on so she wouldn’t have done that to another woman. “I’ve been cheated on, do you think I’m going to be an accomplice,” she asked. “Someone cheated with my man, why would I put that pain on someone else?”

The Splash Down

As we all know by now Dwyane Wade recently announced that he will be ending his amazing 16-year NBA career. He played the final home game of his career on Tuesday at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Famous pals and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend got an incredible memento of the grand occasion.

Miami Heat played Philadelphia 76ers and defeated them. The comedic couple were courtside for the game and for one of the year’s top epic moment. It was all captured on camera. Teigen and Legend were caught completely off guard as Wade came crashing down on them during the game.

The 6-foot-4-inch NBA super star careened into the pair accidentally causing their drinks to explode all over them. Not to mention essentially crushing them into their seats. The perfect moment was captioned in a snapshot by the Miami Herald, who tweeted the photo to Teigen asking if she would like a copy.

Everything about the photo is epic. The combined elements of Teigen’s face getting jabbed from what that looks to be a straw to Legend’s shocked reaction while being pelted with ice, to Wade’s totally oblivious expression. We assume he was probably more focused on the game itself than the celebrity couple he had just crashed into.

It’s A Celebration

Miami Beach Pride is a weeklong celebration with special events and a 2-day festival and Parade.

The mission of Miami Beach Pride is to “bring together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, their friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of the unique spirit and culture of the LGBTQ community.”

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have a daughter Kaavia, whom was born to him and Gabrielle via surrogate late last year. Wade also has three children from a previous relationships. His two sons Zaire (17) and Zion (11) are with ex wife, Siohvaughn Funches. He also has a 5-year-old son Xavier with ex Basketball Wives cast member Aja Metoyer.

This weekend in Miami, Zion Wade, 11 had the support of his family, including his step-mom Gabrielle Union and his older brother Zaire Wade, at the celebration on Sunday.

Dwyane Wade Supports His Son

Dwyane Wade could not physically be at the event, because the NBA star is in the very active season in the NBA. So he supported his son in a photo he posted of  Zion and Gabrielle posing together. Dwyane captioned, “We support each other with pride”.

Zion’s brother also took to Instagram to share the same sentiment as his dad. He wrote along with a photo of him and his brother, “Love you bro, no matter what. Gotcha back, kid. Support gang!”

In a third photo, Zion is with his family while carrying a rainbow flag. Wade posted it on his Instagram story, and captioned the photo, “Zion had his own cheering section today. Wish I was there to see you smile”

Dwyane Wade Gets Criticized for Bad Parenting

We reported that Wade’s 11-year-old son, Zion strutted his stuff on a runway a few weeks ago, even twirling at one point as Gabrielle Union screamed in excitement. Wade would later have a proud papa moment, sharing the clip of Zion’s walk in his InstaStories with the caption, “Killing sh-t.”

Many people made comments in reference to the Zions manner and then criticized the 37-year-old for encouraging his son. Comments erupted like this one from a man on Twitter which said, “Fathers please don’t allow your children to bend and conform to societal pressures”. However, apparently, Wade had no issue in how Zion walked the runway.

This is a successful man, loving and supporting his Son, just as any parent would. People need to move on…ain’t nothing going on here but love and support.

Gabrielle Union has never been one to mince words so it should come as no surprise that she keeps it real at home too. According to Refinery 59, the famed actress recently revealed an interesting lesson she shared with her two stepsons Zaire and Zion, and her husband Dwyane Wade’s nephew, Dahveon. Since the boys are fast approaching the dating age, the actress was intrigued to see the type of girls her young men were interested in. When the boys pointed out a few girls on Instagram, the Breaking In actress immediately noticed a trend she felt compelled to address. The discussion she had with the boys led to an interesting lesson on colorism.

The Instagram Revelation:

Gabrielle revealed all three boys had similar preferences when it came to the physical features they liked in girls. “Literally, probably about 10 girls I looked at had the same light skin, curly hair, tiny waist, butt, boobs — it was the same girl over and over again,” she said. This observation led to an interesting question. She immediately wanted to know why all the girls they liked looked similar and why was there no variety; namely girls of a darker hue. “So I asked them to show me the most beautiful chocolate sister they’ve seen. They say there are none. I was like, ‘Why do they get exed out so fast? What is happening in your brain that is causing you to look at these women through a prism that is distorting their actual selves?'”

Forging on, Gabrielle felt compelled to maker point. She revealed she ventured to Ryan Destiny’s Instagram page. Ironically, Ryan is the same upcoming star many fans have compared to Gabrielle. Surprisingly, the boys found Ryan to be very attractive despite her complexion. So, Gabrielle pulled up a few more beautiful chocolate sisters. She used the examples to prove her point.

“They’re like, ‘Oh, she bad!’ But do you know how many Ryan Destinies there are? I pull up every Black model, women from all over the world, and they’re beautiful. But they don’t see the beauty unless it comes from an actress or a supermodel or a video vixen. They have to have somebody else tell them that a chocolate woman is attractive for them to believe it.”

The Struggle with Diversity:

By now, most fans know diversity is something that’s plagued many talented black actresses for years. Women of a darker hue often have a harder time getting the exposure and recognition they deserve in Hollywood despite their talent. It’s a daunting issue Gabrielle Union has been very vocal about over the years. “To me, diversity is the seat at a table that is super tiny,” she says. “Inclusion is letting you on the block and at the house — much less at the table.” Union’s dream for the future of the beauty industry? “Looking around where the welcome mat has been rolled out, and it’s a wide-ass welcome mat big enough for tables and chairs for everybody. Where every community is widely celebrated, and you’re actually fucking listening to people when they’re speaking and [letting them] tell their own stories.”

Fans everywhere have commended Gabrielle for sharing the lesson with her boys. Many insist it’s a vital topic that should be addressed at an early age.

This week, Jada has turned heads with another interesting guest – Gabrielle Union. By now, everyone has probably heard that the ladies haven’t been the best of friends, but now they’re working to clear the air and move forward from their differences. So, what really happened with Jada and Gabrielle? The ladies put it all on the red table.

A 17-Year Fallout:

Although Jada’s and Gabrielle’s differences have been described as “beef,” the actresses actually agreed that isn’t necessarily the case. During the 20-minute conversation, the ladies recalled what led to their 17-year fallout and admitted it was on “some petty s**t.” There were even times where they both wondered what was the reason for the drama. “Gabrielle and I were never really girlfriends, we were great associates that at some point, dissolved and for 17 years we have not really spoken. We don’t even know [what we’re mad at]. Today I really want to talk to Gabrielle to find out how we, as women, specifically, get here. And this particular episode is about healing.”

The ladies admitted that for some reason, every time they saw each other, there was always unspoken tension. “Every time we would see each other, it was always cordial, always nice, but there was always tension.”

The Being Mary Jane star went on to recall another awkward encounter with Jada, when the two crossed paths at the NAACP Awards. The moment was reportedly so uncomfortable, that Gabrielle described the photo opp as “stiff,” according to TooFab. “I think it was last year or two years ago, me and my friend were leaving the White House — this is some boujee Black people thing, so I was leaving the White House — and you were walking in and there was this moment of, ‘Do I hug her?'” said Union.

Communicating Through Negativity:

The ladies then dived a lil’ deeper, when Gabrielle decided to surprisingy open up about her flaws. Jada finally got the opportunity to commend Gabrielle for her powerful speech at Essence’s 2013 Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon and she opened up about the inspiration behind the speech. Union recalled the dark place she was in after her first marriage and the moment she realized she had a habit of “taking joy in people’s pain.”

Gabrielle also revealed the former actress, who checked her about her attitude –Babyboy actress turned fitness trainer, AJ Johnson. The Breaking In actress recalled the intense moment and how it changed her life. “She got me right between the eyes, it was harsh in the moment, but it was like ‘Damn, I have been communicating through negativity,'” Union explained.

Jada also chimed in, “We’ve all been there.” “Someone else comes along and we feel threatened in some form and we feel like we have to shrink somebody else down in order to feel bigger.” Gabrielle Union went on to admit a few more things about herself. She kept as real as she could and it definitely shows the growth. “I’m a hater, I’m a troll,” she said of her past. “[Johnson] was like, all those negative things that had been happening in your life, it’s exactly what you’re putting out, you’re getting back. I had to see myself clearly. It’s ugly, it’s hard, it’s painful to recognize that you are the common denominator for the vast majority of your problems.”

The ladies ended their conversation with a sigh of relief. Gabrielle admitted that talking to Jada felt like a burden had been lifted. She said it was “like a gorilla hopped off my back that I didn’t even know was there. I needed that, I needed you. So, thank you.” Jada also shared her hopes for their future. “I hope from here on out that we have a bond and you know, you can call on me for anything and thank you for just being open to this,” Jada said before giving Gabrielle a key necklace as a gift. “Let this key be a reminder that you are the key to your power.”

Why Jada & Gabrielle Beefed For 17 Years

During a recent interview with “Extra,” Jada Pinkett-Smith was promoting her new Facebook Watch series, “Red Table Talk,” when she revealed that she had a damn near two-decades-long beef with the “Being Mary Jane” star. Thankfully, they’ve recently squashed it on her show:

“I have a really touching episode with Gabrielle Union. We haven’t been on the best of terms for 17 years, and we have a reconciliation.” Jada continued, “When the producers said we want to do a girlfriends show… her name just kept coming up… it just couldn’t be anything else.”

The odd part is that they’ve been hating each other for years, but don’t even know why:

When Extra host, Tanika Ray, asked Jada if the beef was over, Jada said, “Oh, definitely…we don’t even know how it started!”

Well, glad that’s over.” The Red Table Talk series” will be hosted by Jada; her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris (63), and her daughter, Willow Smith (17). It will be focused on many personal and emotional issues, including an episode with the ex-wife of Jada’s husband, Will Smith, and mother of his first born, Sheree Zampino:

“Our Mother’s Day episode happens to be one of my favorites,” Jada admitted. “I sit down and talk to Sheree, which is Will’s first wife… When we get to the red table, you hear about the stuff that didn’t go so well! We talk about our 23 years together in this thing called family.”

Jada’s Ageless Mother Has Come A Long Way

Speaking of mothers, can we just pause for a second to marvel in the beauty of Jada’s mom? While at it, we’ll throwback to her now infamous 2016 beach body pics that had the internet on FIRE…

We mean this with all due respect, but Jada’s mother had these youngins out here checkin’ for her like she is a real life “Ms. Parker” from the “Friday” movie, or something. Thankfully, Mrs. Banfield-Norris is comfortable in her own skin and takes the many online comments and flirtations she gets with stride. Besides, she’s loving her newly married life to her husband, whom she jumped the broom with in 2016 at age 61.

Another applause worthy accolade, is that Jada’s mother has been sober for decades, following her prior addiction to crack cocaine. In a 2013 round table discussion Adrienne discussed her past addictions and regrets with Jada, and granddaughter, Willow:

“I had mommy when I was very young and then I got addicted to drugs after mommy was born,” Adrienne told Willow about Jada Pinkett. “It was a very difficult time for us growing up with her and Jada did not have the kind of life that you have now. […] I was on drugs until your mom was like 17 or 18 years old. That’s a long time.”

In that same roundtable discussion, Jada reassured her mother that she does not regret the conditions in which she grew up:

“I don’t look at the experience that we had as bad,” Jada said to her mom. “I turned all of that into power. So I used those things as motivation.”
