In a recent interview, 50 Cent dropped some interesting gems about what reportedly went down behind the scenes of the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. And apparently, it was all surrounding the decisions Jay Z’s Roc Nation was making in an alleged attempt to do 50 dirty.

50 Cent’s near-exclusion from the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show– which he ultimately appeared in alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar– almost really happened. According to 50, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation tried to stiff-arm him out of the lineup, but it was his ally, Eminem, who ultimately stepped up for him in a major way.

The Drama Unfolds:

In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 50 Cent revealed that Roc Nation, which is helmed by Jay-Z, attempted to give him the cold shoulder for the Halftime Show performances. The star-studded lineup seemingly did not include 50 Cent as a part of the initial plan. However, things took a surprising turn when Eminem, a long-time collaborator and friend of 50, refused to perform without him:

50 Cent recounted, “Eminem wouldn’t do it (The 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show) without me.”

Realizing the potential loss of having a rap legend like Eminem on stage, Roc Nation had no choice but to bring 50 Cent on board:

“Roc Nation. Yeah, they didn’t want me there. Eminem wouldn’t do it without me. That’s how I ended up on the show because he was not coming if I didn’t do it. When that happens, you go, “Damn, so you just lost Eminem because you didn’t bring 50? Damn. All right. Bring 50 then.” But if it was up to them, they would not have me there. I’m the surprise. I’m not on the bill at all. But they couldn’t get Em to do it without me.”

Even though 50 didn’t say Jay Z’s name directly, everybody knows Jay’s name is synonymous with the company he owns–Roc Nation and it’s Super Bowl Halftime Show lineups ever since the brand took over production of the SB shows in 2019, just sayin.’ But there’s more…

Taking a swipe at the musical accolades, he boldly stated that the trophies have “ZERO VALUE.” But that wasn’t all—he also raised suspicions about Bey’s multiple wins, suggesting an inside job. “I don’t know who’s voting in that s***,” he mused, adding, “It’s crazy. To go after Dash’s shares in Roc-A-Fella, the record company he co-founded with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke.

But Jay-Z and Biggs weren’t about to let that happen. They came to Dame’s defense and pumped the brakes on the process of selling his shares. This move was not entirely surprising, considering the history between the three co-founders. Despite the fallout of Roc-A-Fella, it seems that there is still enough mutual respect and camaraderie for Jay-Z to protect Dame Dash from losing his stake in the company.

To understand the gravity of the situation, let’s go back to 2016 when Dame Dash was fired as the director of Webber’s crime thriller film, “Dear Frank.” It was claimed that Dash was unfit for the role, displaying abusive behavior towards staff and showing up to set under the influence. This led to a series of legal disputes between Dash and Webber, including a lawsuit for copyright infringement and defamation, which resulted in a judgment against Dash in 2022.

While Dame Dash has yet to comply with the court order to pay off the judgment, Jay-Z and Biggs made it clear that they won’t let Dash’s shares be sold off without their consent. They argued that the bylaws of Roc-A-Fella require the full board’s approval for any significant sell-offs. Although U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger criticized this decision, stating that Dash wasn’t present at the board meeting where it was finalized, the court still ordered Dash to make his stock certification available within 180 days.

Many of y’all may have seen the viral May 29 (2109) video of the hostile arrest of couple, Iesha Harper and her fiance,’ Dravon Ames. They were violently arrested after cops supposedly received a ‘tip’ that their 4 year old daughter had taken a baby doll out of a dollar store. Also, did we mention that Iesha was visibly pregnant when Phoenix cops aggressively approached them that day? Crazy, right?!!

Anywho, in the video, Phoenix officers are seen approaching a very stunned Iesha and Dravon, with their guns drawn and loudly shouting, “I’m going to put a cap in your ass,” and “You’re going to f***ing get shot!”

Reportedly, Jay Z has invested $1 million into a Black-owned vegan cookie company,  and it’s expected to change the game health-wise.

According to Vibe, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter has put $1 million into Black-owned cookie company Partake Foods. This is happening through his investment company Marcy Venture Partners.

The source states that Partake Foods is a three-year-old vegan company based in New Jersey and is founded by Denise Woodard, a former Coca-Cola national sales director.

Also, according to Baller Alert, Jay Z isn’t the only one taking interest in the company. Reportedly, the following investment ventures are also putting up money in Woodard’s company:

Although it was first reported, in 2014, that Dr. Dre alluded that he’d became the very first hip hop billionaire, that wasn’t necessarily fact. The inaccuracy occurred when Dre and business partner, Jimmy Iovine, sold their Beats By Dre headphone brand to Apple for $3.2 billion.

At that time, they also had a third party in Carlyle Group which acquired a $500M minority shareholding in the company the year prior. In addition to the third party having dibs on the profits from the selling of Beats by Dre, Dr. Dre also had to pay taxes on his portion.

Therefore, his net worth went from $550 million pre-sale, to $800 million post-sale. And that be’s the reason why he officially did NOT become hip hop’s first Black billionaire.

Roc Nation Sports is a joint venture between Jay-Z and Los Angeles based Creative Artists Agency as a foray into sports management. So far the company has represented many successful athletes such as NFL players Victor Cruz, Dez Bryant and Saquon Barkely as well as WBNA player Skylar Diggins-Smith. In an attempt to capitalize on the boxing market RNS recruited boxer Daniel Franco in 2015. Things started out fine with Franco winning his first five fights. But according to TMZ Sports in 2017 Franco came down with the flu and was sidelined from training for a few weeks. He reached out to RNS so they could cancel an upcoming fight, but they answered by telling him that wasn’t an option.

Franco claims he told Roc Nation he needed to postpone or cancel the March 23 fight — but Roc Nation pressured him into fighting anyway.

Franco says he lost badly in the 3rd round and should have taken time off to recover … but instead, Roc Nation booked him to fight again 50 days later on May 12.

Then, Franco claims Roc Nation booked him for a third fight just a month later on June 10 … his third fight in 79 days.

Jay Z and Timbaland are about to come outta their pockets with a few million if one 1970’s soul singer has his way in court.

The two hip hop legends have just been named in a lawsuit, by former Stax Records singer, Ernie Hines (81), who 21 years later has apparently just recently discovered that Jay Z and Timbaland sampled his songs in two different records.

According to the lawsuits, Jay Z is accused of sampling Hines’ 1969 single, “Help Me,” on his 1998 hit, “Paper Chase.” Music producer, Timbaland, is accused of sampling that same Hines song on singer, Ginuwine’s, 1999 hit, “Toe 2 Toe.”

Both tracks were produced by Timbaland, yet, neither of he, nor Jay Z, had permission to use the song, according to Hines and his attorney.

In addition to Jay Z and Timbaland, Hines is also suing Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Recordings, Universal Music Group and Sony Music.

As to why it took the soul legend 21 years to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against all of the aforementioned? His attorney has a an answer for that:

Timbaland produced both tracks, and the document notes that “Toe 2 Toe” has sold over “2 million copies.”

Hines’ attorney, Christopher Brown, writes that his client is a “senior citizen, does not listen to rap music and was unaware” that the songs contained his music and composition.

The lawsuit claims neither Jay nor Timbaland ever reached out to Hines, and between 1998 through [2018] never paid a dime to sample his work.

Ernie Hines is now demanding $2 million in his lawsuit. Pretty sure Ernie Hines be able to get his paper, if his claims are accurate.
