In a new interview with Gayle King, Jim referred to Will Smith as “selfish” for delivering that slap to Chris Rock during the Oscars. He also referred to everyone who gave Will a round of applause during his ‘Best Actor’ acceptance speech (just moments after Will slapped Chris Rock) as “spineless.” But that’s not all, Jim thinks Chris should hit Will with a fat lawsuit…wait ’til y’all see how much. When Gayle King asked Jim Carrey what he was thinking as he watched the slap-gate situation unfold on live television, he stated:

“I was sickened by the standing ovation [when Will later won the Academy Award for ‘Best Actor’]. I felt like Hollywood is just spineless en masse. It really felt like, ‘Oh, this is a really clear indication that we’re not the cool club anymore.”

Chris Rock refused to press charges against Will for slapping him. Jim Carrey said Will “should’ve been” arrested, and he explained what he would have done if he were in Chris Rock’s shoes:

“He [Chris Rock] doesn’t want the hassle. I’d have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million, because that video is gonna be there forever, it’s gonna be ubiquitous. That insult is gonna last a very long time.”

Here’s what Jim thinks Will should have done instead, after Chris Rock insulted wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s, shaved head:

“If you wanna yell from the audience and disapprove, or say something on Twitter, or whatever [that’s fine]. …You do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face because they said words.”

Gayle agreed that although she felt Will should not have slapped Chris, she also pointed out that she realized it had “escalated to that level”…to which Jim snapped back:

“It didn’t escalate. It came out of nowhere because Will had something inside him that’s frustrated, and I…wish him the best. I really do…I don’t have anything against Will Smith. He’s done great things, but that was not a good moment.”

Jim went on to say that Will’s smack “cast appall over everybody’s shining moment” at the Oscars, because all of the actors/actresses “worked really hard to get to that place, and to have their moment in the sun” overshadowed by Will’s actions was uncalled for, he says. Jim further summed it up by saying, “it was just a selfish moment that cast appall over the whole thing.”

As we previously reported, the day after the Oscar’s Will Smith publicly apologized to Chris Rock.

However, Chris has not yet spoken publicly on the matter. By the way, there was a fake online apology circulating around the internet following the fiasco, which was said to be from Chris Rock, but his team shut that down with the quickness, by confirming that it did NOT come from Chris Rock nor his team.

Jim Carrey’s Tribute That Caused An Online Ruckus

When our beloved Aretha passed away on August 16th from pancreatic cancer, Jim Carrey, quickly picked up his paint and easel to show her love and celebrate her legacy in his own way. Unbeknownst to many, Jim has broadened his artistic horizons since his “In Living Color” days. He’s also now a talented, self-taught painting artist, who specializes in his signature caricature style of paintings. Jim has admitted, in the past, that drawing is very therapeutic for him and gives him an opportunity to paint the world as he sees it through his eyes.

His artistic style did not change when it came time for him to whip up a portrait of Aretha, but that’s why many were giving the comedic actor the side eye. On the same day of Aretha’s passing, Jim Carrey took to Twitter to display the artistic piece he’d drawn in her honor. It was a caricature-like image of Aretha and it was pretty creative. However, there was one problem that had many folks scratching their heads- apparently in Jim’s mind, Aretha’s complexion falls somewhere between his and Halle Berry’s, as opposed to the queen’s actual caramel hue. Fans Let Jim Carrey Have It

Like I said, Jim didn’t seem to mean any harm by his brown-paint-deprived-Aretha-painting, it just seems that his view is distorted somehow, or another. When it came to Re-Re’s loyal fans though, if there’s one thing they demand, it’s that Aretha gets all of the R-E-S-P-E-C-T she deserves. So, the last thing they’d want Carrey to do, is attempt to “white-wash” her, as one fan put it. See some of the comments and confusion fans displayed on Twitter below…

Although Jim didn’t respond to the comments, a few fans attempted to draw their own conclusions from the comic’s art and also offered an explanation to the others…

But other fans were quick to rebut that whole ‘light shineth upon thee’ assumption:

Then came the ultimate. One fan took the liberty of ‘fixing’ Jim Carrey’s melanin-deficient-Aretha depiction, by making Aretha’s complexion brown skin tone that she really was and other commenters LOVED this rendition far more:

Even though Jim pissed off many with his tribute, he also received a lot of love from other fans, who simply appreciated the fact that he took the time to create a tribute to the Queen of Soul.

That brings us to Carrey’s disdain for Donald Trump’s presidential practices and policies, which Carrey oftentimes voices. However, this time, not only is he demolishing Trump, he’s calling out the NFL and the corporations that sponsor the league too.

As we all know by now, the NFL recently announced it’s new controversial policy, which prohibits players from expressing their 1st amendment right to peacefully take a knee during the singing of the National Anthem. The league’s announcement on the new ruling, partly stated the following as the reason for it:

“Clearly our objective as a league and to all 32 clubs—which was unanimous—is we want people to be respectful at the national anthem,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at a press conference announcing the new code. “We want people to stand. That is all personnel. And make sure that they treat this moment in a respectful fashion. That is something that we think we owe.”

The kneeling ban was in response to ousted quarterback, Colin Kaepernick’s bravery in utilizing his name and platform to protest against the thousands of Black people who are continuing to be unjustly murdered by trigger happy police officers. Millions of people have defended Kaepernick’s courage, but apparently, NFL higher ups do not want that type of courage displayed in their sport.

That fact didn’t go unnoticed by many celebrities, including Jim Carrey, who has now taken to Twitter to call for push back against the Trump backed NFL ruling, by hitting the league where it hurts- their pockets. Carrey believes that instead of just boycotting the NFL, fans should put pressure on the many corporations who sponsor the NFL, to cut their business ties with the NFL League, until they lift the kneeling ban and their unspoken ban against Kaepernick. To further get his point across, Carrey, a skilled artist, drew a photo to clearly demonstrate what he meant:

Jim Carrey: “NFL — who exploits players for 3yrs then abandons them to a lifetime of pain — sided with a draft-dodging racist who uses fake patriotism to squash peaceful protest. Corporations shld rethink sponsoring moral cowardice before we start asking: whose side is Nationwide really on?”

Since the NFL’s kneeling ban, there have also been reports that several NFL players are planning to sit out the season until the league gives Kaepernick a fair shot at re-entering the NFL. Ever since the 2016 season- the year he took a knee- NFL owners have reportedly refused to hire him.

Overall, the NFL has now made it clear that although majority of NFL players are African American, the amount of money those Black men can earn for the league, supercedes their right to peacefully raise awareness about horrific injustices committed against of people of color.

According to TMZ, she left behind a suicide note that mentions her September 24th breakup with Carrey and on that same day, she wrote this on Twitter: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”

Last night White was found dead in her home by two of her friends. Los Angeles police say it appears that she intentionally overdosed on prescription pills.

Carrey and White dated on and off ever since 2012, and according to Gossip Cop, this is the statement Carrey released about his girlfriend:
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”

In the weeks prior to Cathriona’s last tweet on September 24th, she wrote a couple of eerily worded phrases on her social media accounts. On September 23rd, her tweet was a W.B. Yeats. quote that said, “Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind.” Just two weeks prior to that, she posted a meme on her Instagram page that said, “I sometimes smile and act like nothing is wrong. It’s call dealing with sh*t and staying strong.”

Jim Carrey’s last tweet was on September 16th when he posted a photo of himself and cited Cathriona White as the person who snapped the photo.

White’s suicide happened so soon after she and Carrey’s breakup, that it seems like that could have possibly had something to do with her pain, although that hasn’t yet been confirmed. We offer our deepest condolences to Cathriona’s family and Jim Carrey during this difficult time. May Cathriona rest peacefully.
