ILOSM fam,’ if you’ve been keeping up with the Jussie Smollett racial-homophobic hoax attack case as of late, then you know Jussie and his family have been goin’ off about his prison sentence. The 5-month prison sentence he began serving Thursday, March 10, 2022, pissed off Jussie to no end, and had his family and legal team claiming that it was an ‘injustice.’

Welp…fast forward to now, and the ex-“Empire” star has surprisingly walked out of jail, in less than a week. However, there are some conditions to this situation, and his get-out-out-jail card isn’t permanent…at least not at the moment.

Jussie’s legal team is pushing to appeal his 5-month sentence, and while doing so, the appeals court granted their request of allowing Jussie to be released during the appeals process. On Wednesday evening, Jussie was able to walk out of Cook County jail on his own recognizance…however, he’ll be coughing up an extra $150,000 if he skips any future hearings regarding his case.

Jussie happily strolled out of Cook County jail surrounded by law enforcement officers. As a crowd of reporters stood by hoping to get a word or two out of Jussie, he walked passed them in silence, got into a vehicle and was driven off to an undisclosed location. There were seemingly a few fans nearby cheering him on, to which he gestured in gratitude for their support.

Jussie’s legal team had some things to say to the awaiting media though. One of Jussie’s attorneys claimed the judge handed down an unconstitutional sentence…after Jussie was found guilty of creating an attack hoax, costing the city of Chicago approximately $150,000 during the investigation, and lying to law enforcement. According to the attorney, it’s a “shame” that Jussie was “put in a cage for a class 4 felony.”

Jussie’s legal team also claims that Jussie’s emotional state, while imprisoned for the past few days, was grim and seemed like he’d given up hope in the constitution.

Tina Glandian — another of Jussie’s attorneys — said “We are gratified that Jussie will be back with his family and loved ones and look forward to a dispassionate review and reversal of the serial injustices visited upon him.”

City Officials Speak Out Against Jussie’s Release

According to TMZ, the state of Illinois is a tad pissed over the release of Jussie, stating “Rather than attempt to meet his burden of showing good cause for his immediate release, Mr. Smollett makes only cursory, woefully undeveloped arguments. Each fails to demonstrate good cause to stay his jail sentence.”

Jussie’s Family Maintained His Innocence And Pushed For His Release

A few days prior to Jussie’s release, his brother, Joqui Smollett, took to social media to protest against Jussie having been placed in the psyche ward of the hospital. He pleaded with fans to speak out against the ‘injustice against Jussie’ as well.

However, the Cook County jail released a response stating that Jussie was simply housed in the psyche ward because that is where their high-profiled inmates are placed for their own protection. The jail’s rep’ also said Jussie was never confined to a bed like they would treat an average psyche inmate.

Additionally, in their push to get Jussie released…both Jussie’s fam’ and legal team ‘cited racist and homophobic threats they’d received, and also said Jussie was immunocompromised … and highly susceptible to contracting COVID-19 while in jail,’ reports TMZ.

In case you haven’t been keeping up with the Jussie Smollet news…Jussie was convicted of faking a racial-homophobic attack, by claiming two white dudes attacked him in the middle of the night as he walked down a Chicago street. However, law enforcement officials proved – via the two Osundairo brothers, who are Nigerian; and other evidence – that Jussie paid the brothers to stage the attack. This came after millions of people initially rallied behind Jussie through social media, only to later learn that the attack was a ‘hoax.’

Jussie has repeatedly claimed he’s innocent, just as he did as he was being hauled off to jail, following his jail sentencing on March 10th.

Chicago P.D. recently released several text messages, video footage, and as mentioned, Jussie’s Google search of himself. Turns out, Jussie Googled his name 57 times in 12 days after immediately after the attack. The search apparently raised a few red flags for cops, who previously stated that several of the actions Jussie had taken immediately being “attacked” were not the norm, so to speak.

In his search, Jussie was apparently trying to keep up with how many mainstream media outlets were covering his story.

On January 30th, the day after the “attack,” Jussie searched his name 7 times…

Records show that majority of his computer searches were of himself in the days following the attack, reading stories about his creative director speaking out on the attack and police tracking down where the rope used for the noose was purchased.

As y’all already know, Jussie claimed two White males attacked him, while yelling racist, homophobic slurs at him, during his walk home from a Chicago, IL  Subway restaurant. However, the “attackers” ended up being two of Jussie’s associates, who also happened to be Nigerian brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo.

Cops later concluded that Jussie hired the 2 brothers to “fake attack” him, in order to draw nationwide hype around his name, so he could ultimately demand a higher Empire salary. According to the reports, the Osundairo brothers said Jussie staged the entire attack because he was unhappy with his Empire pay. Jussie claims that’s all a lie and previously stated he didn’t know the brothers. It was eventually revealed that he does know the brothers and also communicated with them via text message after the “attack.”

Jussie was indicted on 16 felony counts for filing a false police report and more. His charges were suddenly dropped by the office of Cook County, IL State Attorney Kim Foxx. Now, he’s facing the possibility of being hit with new charges, after a judge recently ruled there was some unauthorized practices that took place in the prior investigation on S.A. Kim Foxx’s part.

The saga of Jussie Smollett’s allegedly staged “attack” seemed all but a done-dada, after his 16 felony count indictment for filing a false police report was dropped. Only for that same case to gain new steam after a judge recently decided that Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx had no authority to appoint her replacement, after recusing herself from the case. As a result, not only is Jussie facing the possibility of new charges for the crime, but a new videos have now been released of that fateful day in January.

Cops’ Body Cam Footage Of Jussie With Noose…

Chicago P.D. has just released body cam footage of the responding officers who showed up to investigate Jussie’s “attack” on January 29th. As we all know, Jussie claimed that he was attacked by two White dudes in MAGA hats, who poured bleach on him and placed a noose around his neck, as he was walking home from a Subway restaurant in Chicago.

In the newly released body cam video, Jussie can be seen with the noose wrapped around his neck approximately 40 minutes after he said the attack happened. The officers can be heard asking Jussie if he wanted to remove the rope from around his neck, to which he stated that he’d left it there for them to see it first.

Many of you may recall when the investigation began to unravel. At that time, Chicago law enforcement revealed they first had suspicions about Jussie’s story when they went to his apartment. One of their initial red flags was that the rope was still oddly wrapped around his neck for 40 minutes, before they’d arrived.

Prior to the cameras being turned off, Jussie made it clear that he didn’t want the neighbors in his building to witness the drama, so he immediately invited the cops to his apartment. He told the cops he didn’t want to be recorded. So before turning off their cameras, the two officers asked Jussie if he was sure he was cool with them shutting the cameras off and he agreed.

Prior to the documents release it seemed that there may have been redemption in Jussie’s future, however any plans of regaining favor in the public eye are now long gone. The Hollywood Reporter states that inside the documents it’s revealed that Jussie, along with the Osundario brothers, had a very casual relationship. So casual it involved Jussie allegedly requesting drugs like marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine from them. And that’s not all.

According to redacted police records, Smollett had a “planning meeting” with the two brothers, during which they set the time and details of the attack. Olabinjo Osundairo later told police he deliberately tried not to harm Smollett during the purported attack, only going so far as to rub his knuckles into the actors face to make it look bruised.

Smollett allegedly feared that the other brother, Abimbola, might hurt him and asked him not to participate in the staged beating. According to one released document, one brother was afraid to escalate the confrontation for fear of being shot by police, further strengthening the allegation that Smollett lied.

Triumph After Tragedy

The Osundairo brothers were thrust into the spotlight out of obscurity after the alleged attack on Smollett was reported back in late January. As the case unfolded it had more twists and turns than a roller coaster, with public opinion constantly changing. Once the Osundairo brothers were added to the narrative everything began to appear hazy and eventually Smollett was implicated as the one who may have allegedly orchestrated the attack. Eventually he was brought in for questioning and after a brief court case all of the charges were dropped. The Osundairo brothers, who remained cooperative during the investigation, were also spared of any charges.

Moving On

The whirlwind drama seems to be a distant memory for some as the nation has moved onto other clickworthy stories, and the Osundairo brothers must certainly be counting their blessings that they escaped this major scandal relatively unscathed. PageSix reports that just last Friday Abel won the Golden Gloves senior novice division boxing championship in Chicago. And though this is good news a bit of bad news from Ola’s past is catching up to him as reports have resurfaced from a 2011 incident where he stabbed someone.
