Fast forward to today, and Magic is finally speaking out about it. He has now released the following statement:

“I’m aware of the false story circling the internet,” the 63-year-old said, “and to be clear, I have never donated blood.”

In other words…Magic says ‘hell to the naw-naw,’ he did not donate blood to anyone, and that photo is BS.

However, Magic also didn’t elaborate on what exactly he was having his blood drawn for in that viral photo. Because it closely resembles the same process as donating blood, a lil’ further clarity what’ve been good to calm the online chit-chatter, and ease some nerves.

As you all know…after initially being diagnosed with HIV in 1991, and ultimately retiring that same year, Magic Johnson has since become an advocate for HIV awareness. It’s good to see the brotha continuing his fight.

NBA icon-turned-business man, Earvin “Magic” Johnson (61), has been married to his wife, Cookie Johnson (61), since forever. They’ve had a ton of highs and lows throughout their marriage, with one of the most extreme lows being the time he was diagnosed with HIV 30 years ago, in 1991. One of their highest of the highs came three years later, when they decided to adopt their beautiful daughter, Elisa Johnson,  in 1994.

For the longest time, many never realized that 25 year old Elisa was adopted, nor that her mother, Cookie, was not pregnant at the time of her birth. In fact, it wasn’t really known until Elisa introduced the world to her biological mother, Dawn, on her brother, E.J. Johnson’s, E!Entertainment reality show, “EJNYC” a few years ago. Their reunion was a very emotional one and it was all caught on camera.

In the video clip below, Elisa revealed that she was grateful to have been blessed with her Johnson family, as well as her biological family. Although she views Magic and Cookie as her real parents, she says she’ll never feel “alone,” with so much love coming from both families.

Elisa met up with her birth mom, Dawn, along with her other biological siblings and aunt in a park.  As Dawn was approaching, Elisa couldn’t help but run toward her and embrace the woman who gave her the gift of life. After watching their emotional reunion, it became apparent that Dawn’s motive for putting her daughter up for adoption, was done out of love and not selfishness.

Elisa stated this about seeing her birth mother, whom she refers to as Dawn:

“It’s surreal, like you can’t explain that- seeing your own flesh and blood for the first time. …It’s an incredible experience.”

Through tears, Dawn admitted her heartache to Elisa:

“The pain of me placing you for adoption…everyday, that does not go away. […] People think like…as a birth mom, ‘Oh you’re done…you made a decision, you decided…this is what you wanna do with your child and then you’re done.’…NO! Every time around your birthday [Dawn shakes her head] there’s NO way. … I was in school and every December (Elisa’s birth month) came, I couldn’t focus. …Like, it was pointless for me to even try.”

Clearly, that internal motherly love Dawn has for Elisa has never faded, ever since she handed her over to Magic and Cookie 23 years ago. Instead, Dawn’s decision to place Elisa up for adoption appears to have been the heart-wrenching one she’d made in order to give Elisa an opportunity to find a loving family who would give her what she could not at that time.

Dawn was 17 years old when she gave birth to Elisa. That’s why they appear to look more like sisters, than mother and daughter. It’s also why Dawn felt that at that stage in her life, she did not have the ability to care for her child, thus making the unselfish decision to part with her.

Thankfully, Elisa has been able to fill the void she may have had, to simply know where she came from.

Dawn’s and Elisa’s emotional reunion is one that not many adopted children never get to have. However, not all adopted children wish to meet their biological parents, it just depends on the individual. The beautiful thing Elisa has probably become aware of, is that her Johnson family chose her and that they wanted to love her unconditionally, raising her as their own flesh and blood.

Magic Johnson’s eldest son, Andre Johnson, is 39 years old now and he has the ladies of the internet talking up a storm. Why is that, you ask? Because he and his 61 year old Pops were spotted on vacation on beach in Hawaii a while back and it was Andre’s shirtless pics that drove the ladies wild.

Okay before we go any further, let’s back up for a second: when most of us think about Magic’s son, we typically think about his youngest son, E.J. Johnson III, the flamboyant and openly proud gay reality star, who is oftentimes seen everywhere. Andre’s wife, Lisa, is the founder and ED of Private School Village (PSV), a non-profit organization she created to build a network of African American families with children in private schools. As a black mother of children in private school Lisa uses her organization to strengthen relationships with other African American families through social gatherings and networking. As their mission states;​

PSV, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, builds community by organizing social events, sharing resources, and providing programs for Black/African-American families in independent schools (K-12). This fortunate yet sometimes marginalized group experiences a disjointed sense of community in the private school setting which impacts the ability to fully reach potential. Without a sense of belonging in the school community (along with the reasons why that is the case), there are often behavioral, psychological, and/or academic issues that can permeate life. Through PSV programs myriad issues are addressed–cultural identity, self-esteem, leadership skills, and more. PSV helps Black/African-American students realize their maximum potential by working alongside parents, students, and private schools.

While Lisa continues to strengthen children in her community according to his LinkedIn profile Andre is blazing his own trail in the world of gaming as the Vice President of Business Development for Mythical Games, per their mission statement:

We believe that true ownership of digital assets, verifiable scarcity, and integrated secondary markets will spawn a new generation of games. These new economies, based on digital ownership, will bring players, developers, and content creators closer to the games they love.

And as for Andre’s and Lisa’s children – daughter, GiGi, and son, Avery (pictured above)- they keep them both very active with many projects and academics. Yet, just like their legendary Grandpa Magic, the love of athletics courses runs through their veins.

Although the entire Johnson family is walking their own path in life the one thing they can always rely on is the fact that they have each other. And as long as they remember that there’s no limit to what they will accomplish.

A few years ago we reported about a family beach outing in Hawaii with Magic and his eldest son Andre. The collective response, especially from the ladies, was “Where has he been all this time?” Honestly, he’s always been around.

When it comes to Magic and his family he is super supportive and has tons of love to spread with all of his children. Many recognize Magic’s youngest son Earvin ‘EJ’ Johnson III for his bold presence as a reality television star and advocate for the LGBTQ community. And sadly, many have become familiar with Magic’s daughter Elisa because of a recent home invasion that almost took her life. Thankfully outside of the constant media presence surrounding the Johnson family they all continue to provide the example for what true love looks like. And even though Andre is more low-key than his famous father and siblings he is living a very fulfilled life with a successful wife and two beautiful children.

We’re a lil’ tardy for the party with this one family, but it’s still a beautiful thing to witness nonetheless. As many of y’all may already know, NBA legend, Magic Johnson, has three adult children- EJ, Elisa and Andre Johnson. What many may not be aware of is that Magic and his wife, Cookie, adopted Elisa when she was a newborn. That tidbit of info is largely missed, because she not only looks as if she could possibly shares the same DNA as her parents, her loving Johnson family view her as no differently than their own flesh and blood. To them, she IS their own.

Even though Elisa makes it no secret that she’s adopted and that she loves her family to death, there’s always the possibility of questioning one’s own identity and self worth when adopted. As Elisa celebrates her new womanhood as a 23 year old, she’s managing to shed any feelings of unworthiness, or not-good-enough syndrome shared by many. Therefore, she’s decided to chop her hair completely off to display her true, natural beauty and we are LOVING it.

In a beautiful Instagram post, Elisa flossed for the camera, while cheesin’ it up with her cropped TWA (teeny weeny afro) style. In her photo’s caption, she explained the journey she’s been on to conquer her fears, insecurities, and self-doubt by allowing her true crown to shine:

On a side note, it’s sad, although understandable why a woman wearing her natural hair is still considered a ‘courageous’ act. It’s not a diss to those who view it as such, but it is a diss to the history of America, in which African Americans have been told ‘you are not good enough just as you are,’ ever since slavery. Thus, I agree, that in our current state of society, Elisa Johnson’s beautiful natural ‘fro is a ‘brave’ part of herself to display to the world. Keep shining Queen!

One commenter wrote, “I have no room to judge but how can a man let his son turn into this? If they actually believed in god and Jesus like the publicize then they would’ve set their son on the right path.”

Magic & Cookie Share Their Conflicting Feelings When E.J. Came Out

Magic and Cookie previously revealed on “The Steve Harvey Show” what his and Cookie’s true thoughts were upon learning that E.J. was a gay man. They had two very different experiences with his coming out. Cookie was okay with E.J.’s sexuality from day one, but Magic on the other hand, had a bit of a struggle at first.

Magic’s process evolved from denial, to trying to change E.J. into more of a manly kid, to understanding and embracing his son for who he is no matter what. See what Magic and Cookie explained below:

It’s wonderful that E.J. has had the unconditional love and support of those who matter the most to him- his mom, his dad, his sister, Elisa, and his big brother, Andre. With that type of love, he can conquer the world regardless of how much scrutiny he faces every time he steps out of his door as a gay male.

This is just another reminder that we cannot always foresee what our children will become, nor will we be able to control who they truly are. What we can control as parents, is love them unconditionally, train them to be good people and hope that as they grow older, they’ll never forget those lessons- regardless of if they’re gay, bisexual, or straight.

Remember when we told y’all that they, along with their wives, family, and friends, were vacationing for the past few weeks on a $680K per week yacht in celebration of Magic’s birthday? Also, remember that time when a TV reporter mistook Samuel Jackson for Laurence Fishburne and he had to check him?

Well combine those two memories and that’s pretty much what has just happened to Jackson and Johnson…except what they were mistaken for was far worse than the legendary Laurence Fishburne.

The Shopping Spree That Started It All

While vacationing in Forte dei Marmi, Tuscany, Italy, the two friends took a photo of themselves chillin’ in chairs, next to their Prada and Louis Vuitton shopping bags, after a shopping trip. Johnson posted the photo on Twitter, captioning it: “Sam and I chilling out on a bench yesterday in Forte dei Marmi, Italy. The fans started lining up to take pictures with us.” Although that sounds innocent enough, that is where all HELL broke loose across the internet.

The Italian Meme

In what he referred to as a social experiment, comic, Luca Bottura, created a meme from the photo of Jackson and Johnson with this caption: “Boldrini’s resources in Forte dei Marmi shop at Prada with our €35 [dollars]. Share this picture if you are outraged.”

According to TheIndependent.co.uk, Luca’s meme ‘was a reference to Laura Boldrini, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, who has drawn fierce criticism for her progressive open migration policy.’

Turns out, thousands of Italy’s citizens came across Luca’s meme of Jackson and Johnson and did not know who neither one of them were. But they did notice, however, the expensive shopping bags surrounding the superstars in the photo. So what did the oblivious Italian citizens do next? They responded with some of the most racially profiled comments Samuel Jackson and Magic Johnson have ever been the topic of.

‘Lazy Immigrants On Welfare?’

The Italian citizens mistook Jackson and Johnson as two “lazy immigrants” who abuse Italy’s system by spending all of Italy’s tax payers’ dollars (because of course they’re on welfare) on expensive items they cannot afford. The Italians then proceeded to bash them in droves all over social media. What in the HELL?!!

One commenter posted: ”Nina Moric is right and this is shameful … I am not racist, but I know there are people who really do not have money, while these wear branded clothes and relax.”

Another one wrote: “Immigration is crushing us.”

Other’s went on to state how they were ‘disgusted’ by seeing such lazy immigrants taking over their country.

Soon after the meme went viral, the comic responded with this on Facebook:

“The meme has been shared thousands of times and 40 per cent of people understood the provocation, 30 per cent were outraged and 20 per cent thought it was a racist meme and that I had failed to recognize Samuel Jackson and Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, (I will not reveal the 10 per cent).”

Now it’s probably safe to assume that the thousands of Italian citizens, who were angered, are walking around with their faces cracked, after learning that the “two lazy immigrants” in the meme have enough wealth to buy several whole islands in the very country they were accused of taking advantage of with their expensive shopping sprees. Ah well…we live and we learn I suppose.

Magic’s reportedly spending almost $680,000 per week on a yacht rental from the luxury yacht company, Siren.

So, therefore, based on my estimations, Magic has spent about $1.75 MILLION so far for his exotic sea getaway! Laaaawd…he better make sure every last one of his guests are partying it up on that yacht EVERYday, so he can get his money’s worth.

Now, being that Magic’s a smart man, I’m pretty sure he’ll be able to write off at least some of that yacht expense come tax season, because for businessman with many successful business ventures in operation, like Magic’s, it’s probably safe to assume he’ll utilize some of his yacht time to conduct business.
