Beyonce’s and Solange’s dad, Mathew Knowles, has long ago proven himself to be a complex individual. He’s made mistakes (cheated on his now ex-wife, Tina Knowles Lawson), he’s molded one of the most dynamic superstars of today’s generation, he’s had love affair kid(s) outside his previous marriage to Tina, and he also dedicates much his time toward helping others in need within his hometown of Houston, TX. So…as you can see, the brotha has many layers from which he gets judged by…but quite frankly, don’t we all? It’s called being human, even though it does not negate any of the wrongdoing we may have done.

Anywho, apparently in 2018 Mathew was on a mission to shed a much needed spotlight on the ignorance of colorism in America. In doing so, he received backlash…as well as praise. Why? Because as we previously reported, he’s been brutally honest about his inflictions with colorism, while simultaneously holding a mirror up to America, forcing the nation to embrace it’s wrongs, so to speak. As we could expect, with bravery always comes adversity…and for Mathew, he’s received his daily dosage after an interview surfaced.

In an interview with Ebony Magazine, Knowles was promoting his then-upcoming book, “Racism: From the Eyes of a Child.” Aside from admitting that he thought his ex, Tina Knowles-Lawson, ‘was a White woman’ when he first met her, he then went on to discuss why Beyonce’ has had so much success. Simply put, he said it’s because of her light skin. Let Knowles explain in this excerpt from his Ebony interview:

Mathew Knowles: “When it comes to Black females, who are the people who get their music played on pop radio? Mariah Carey, Rihanna, the female rapper Nicki Minaj, my kids [Beyonce and Solange], and what do they all have in common?”

Interviewer: “They’re all lighter skinned.”

MK: “Do you think that’s an accident?”

Interviewer: Of course not!

MK: “So you get it!”

At first glance, hearing a Black man say that about his daughter, may make him seem very shallow and void of substance. But after reading what else Mathew had to say (below), it soon became clear he wasn’t necessarily attempting to sound like a brainwashed coon at all. He was instead shedding light on a very brainwashed state of mind within America that has existed since slavery…

Mathew Knowles: “I have a chapter in the book that talks about eroticized rage. I talk about going to therapy and sharing–one day I had a breakthrough–that I used to date mainly White women or very high-complexion Black women that looked White. I actually thought when I met Tina, my former wife, that she was White. Later I found out that she wasn’t, and she was actually very much in-tune with her Blackness. … I had been conditioned from childhood. With eroticized rage, there was actual rage in me as a Black man, and I saw the White female as a way, subconsciously, of getting even or getting back. There are a lot of Black men of my era that are not aware of this thing.”

It’s understandable that the psychological warfare – which has brainwashed many generations of human beings – is a painful wound to bear for many. However, we can only put a band-aid over it for so long, because even though it’s covered, it’s still bleeding. Therefore, what Mathew is admitting and raising awareness about – the nonsense notion that beautiful women – like Lupita N’yongo, Viola Davis, Lauryn Hill and Gladys Knight, to name a few – are not as ‘beautiful’ as a Beyonce’ is a much needed discussion– not only within the Black community, but it sure is a great place to start.

TONY! TONI! TONE’!’s D’WAYNE WIGGINS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MANY DESTINY’S CHILD HITS

Dwayne Wiggins is the man behind many Destiny’s Child’s hits. Like we said, if you know ’80s ’90s R&B, you certainly know D’Wayne, even though you may have just learned his real name today. Nope his name ain’t Tony, Toni, nor Tone’, but D’wayne along with his brother, Raphael Saadiq, and their cousin,  Timothy Christian Riley, helped created the hits for all three of those namesakes.

It all started when Gyrl Time signed to D’Wayne’s and Terry-T’s production company, Grass Roots Entertainment, in 1994 (they’re albums were distributed through Columbia Records). Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, who founded and managed the group, had allowed Dwayne and Terry-T to groom the the girls with their expertise in music. Here’s what Dwayne revealed about that to Post News Group about that time:

Together, [Wiggins] and Butler worked hard to develop the young singers. When asked what it was like working with a superstar, Butler said, “Beyoncé, then age 14, was like a little sister to me who needed some guidance. She was very talented with a great work ethic.”

For the first time ever, Beyonce’s and Solange’s dad, Mathew Knowles, has shared photos of his secret wedding to his wife on their 5th year anniversary. A while back, we informed y’all that while his ex-wife of 31 years, Tina Knowles-Lawson, had just started dating her now husband, actor Richard Lawson, Mathew was already happily married right up under the public’s noses. The one difference between Tina’s and Mathew’s wedding was that Bey’ and Solange only attended one of them, that’s neither here nor there though. What is important at this moment, is that we send a big congratulations to Mathew and his beautiful wife, on hitting the 5 year mark.

Many folks didn’t think they’d last for various reasons- their age difference, their quick courtship, etc.- but Mathew proudly boasted that he’s happy he proved their naysayers wrong. In two new social media videos, Mathew shared stood in front of a photo of his wife, as he delivered a message to his fans about their upcoming vow renewal and anniversary romantic getaway:

“We leave today to go on our anniversary…on our sixth year anniversary- although some people only gave us six months. … It’s an incredible, loving 5 years. And we’ll share some of that with you, we’ll renew our vows.”

When Mathew Finally Confirmed Secret Marriage

In April 2018, Mathew finally confirmed what we told y’all several years ago- that he’s secretly been married to his wife for years. When he appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” to discuss his latest autobiographical book, “Racism From The Eyes Of A Child,” Wendy brought up his new wife, Gena Charmaine Avery. Mathew seemed slightly caught off guard, but he decided to finally tell his truths:

“Uh…most people dint even know I’m married, it’ll be five years in a few months.”

Wendy also asked Mathew if his new wife fit the same mold that his beloved mother trained him to like as a youngin’: a non-brown, nor no-dark skinned woman with, and I quote, “nappy hair.” Again, Mathew was put on the spot, but didn’t back down, simply answering with, “She’s a beautiful woman” and we couldn’t agree with him more on that.

That seems to bring MAJOR joy to him, Solange and Beyonce’ these days and Mathew’s also a proud grandfather to his four grandbabies.

Why He Laughed At Solange & Jay-Z Fight

On a lighter note, during the interview, Mathew also admitted that he laughed hysterically when he first saw that video of Solange punching the hell outta Jay-Z in the elevator, as Beyonce stood by like nothing was happening. He says exactly what we saw, is exactly what it is behind the scenes on a daily, calling Solange a “firecracker,” Jay-Z a level headed big brother type to her, and Bey’ one to never involve herself in the nonsense.

False Accusations:

According to Complex magazine, Mathew Knowles claims a series of lies about Beyonce and Destiny’s Child caused him to lose out on a deal for $175 million. It has been reported that Knowles claims his former attorneys Lang Ferrer PLLC have accused him of refusing to pay $50,000 for their work. The attorneys claim Knowles held a silent auction during Super Bowl weekend back in 2017. Now, he’s being accused of quietly selling his Beyoncé’s, and Destiny Child’s memorabilia. Then to make matters worse, they’ve also accused Knowles of pocketing the money from the quiet sale to avoid paying creditors.

As a result of the accusations, Knowles claims some of his potential business partners have opted not to work with him. According to The Blast, Knowles’ company, Music World, had deals in the works with a Port Royal Resort and Texas Southern University. The Port Royal Resort deal, alone, was worth the $175 million. In addition to that deal, he claims he also claims he had another business opportunity to license over 3,000 songs. Unfortunately, that deal also fell through.

Denying All Allegations:

Despite the attorneys’ claims, Mathew Knowles has denied all of the allegations and he’s even clapped back with a countersuit of his own. The 66-year-old has filed a defamation lawsuit seeking $2 million in damages. In the lawsuit filed on February 21, Knowles described the attorneys’ actions as threatening and he argues that their legal invoices were “excessive and unreasonable.”

On February 21, Knowles filed new docs in the case accusing his former lawyers of having – prior to the lawsuit – threatening to make things “ugly for him” if he did not pay what Knowles called “excessive and unreasonable” legal invoices.

Controversial Comments:

The latest news follows reports about controversial comments Knowles made in reference to a chapter in his book where he discussed his attraction to fair-complected women. However, he didn’t stop there. He even went a step further claiming Beyonce probably wouldn’t be as famous is she were dark-skinned. During an interview on US pop radio market, he defended his comments and further explained what he meant. “I’ve been in the music industry for 25 years. When I made that statement, I was speaking specifically as our radio is in America,” Knowles said.

“We have urban radio and we have pop radio. When we look at pop radio we can look, I don’t use Beyoncé or Solange my younger daughter, I really talk about Mariah Carey and others, Rihanna, that it’s just a known fact, if we look over the last ten years, and we look at colourism – which is discrimination based on the shade of colour – it’s a fact.It’s a fact that Beyoncé or any of the other artists, Alicia Keys, I can go on and on, a shade of color does make a difference in pop radio.”

Like last time, his latest comments have also sparked controversy. Many fans have accused Knowles of using these types of situations to his advantage for the sake of publicity.

Money Moves:

In addition to the $2 million lawsuit that was recently filed, Mathew Knowles is also looking to make big bucks with his new book Racism From the Eyes of a Child. Knowles managed Destiny’s Child for more than 10 years before leaving the group back in 2006. Knowles now works as a visiting professor at Texas Southern University, but despite his relationship with the university, he claims the lawsuit also impacted the university’s decision to prohibit him from becoming a tenured professor. So, Knowles is looking to recoup from a number of losses he claims are a result of his former attorneys’ actions.

Knowles is also asking the court not to dismiss his defamation lawsuit against the attorneys.

Not Here For the Drama?:

Since Matthew reportedly showed up unannounced when Beyonce gave birth to 5 year old Blue Ivy, she’s said to be taking precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Via JB: “She is fearful that he’ll show up uninvited like he did with [their five-year-old daughter] Blue. She doesn’t want him anywhere nearby on her special day. She fully expects everything to be perfect as they become a family of five.”

The insider also revealed Tina Knowles will be there to make sure the big day goes smoothly and claims Tina does not play, so there shouldn’t be any problems:

Big Plans Underway:

The latest news follows a string of reports about Beyonce and Jay’s laundry list of requests for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Of course, the reported list has fans wondering whether or not Beyonce is the diva many speculate she is. However, those close to her reportedly claim that Bey and Jay’s demands are for security reasons only:

“[They] prepared an A and a B team as decoys to confuse photographers and fans, and everyone signed confidentiality agreements. Jay and Beyoncé have also been arguing with the hospital about the use of security cameras. Jay doesn’t want cameras in the room, hallways or elevators, which is an impossible request. They also made a plan to have everything fully catered so they don’t have to socialize in the hospital.” -via JB

Although it was rumored that Beyonce was in the hospital giving birth over the weekend, news outlets later confirmed the singer had only moved to be in closer proximity to the hospital. So it looks like Bey and Jay are still playing the waiting game, but they’ll probably do an effective job of evading the paparazzi when she does give birth. We wish them much luck with that.

The Big News:

Although it’s probably safe to say Beyonce’s mother, Tina Lawson, and her sister, Solange were told of the pregnancy before the big announcement, apparently, there’s one person who had no clue. During a brief interview with Essence, Beyonce’s father, Mathew Knowles learned of the pregnancy like the rest of us. “I got a first text and I kept saying ‘Why is this person saying Congratulations?’ I didn’t know myself!”

He admitted when he called his daughter, “She sounded a little tired because she’s been working on the Grammy performance.” Now, he knows exactly why.

Letting the Cat Out of the Bag?:

Mathew Knowles went on to discuss the strategic way his daughter chose to share the news with fans. But, when he mentioned Blue Ivy’s reaction to the pregnancy, he may have let the cat out of the bag.

“That was very smart that she did it rather than someone else, the media, doing it. I think there’s strategy. I think there’s more to come… I’m extremely proud, extremely happy both for Jay and for her. And Blue is gonna have brothers and sisters. She is already excited.”

His reference to “brothers and sisters” leads many fans to wonder if Queen Bey is expecting fraternal twins. Although she has yet to confirm or deny the speculation, fans agree it would be befitting.
