Singer, Ne-Yo, done took things way too far, according to his wife of six years (m. 2016). And the story only gets more interesting from here. You see, Ne-Yo and Crystal Renay’s, marriage has had quite a few twists and turns as of late — with clearly, the latest twist being the new divorce petition she filed a few days ago.

Details Of Ne-Yo’s Wife’s Divorce Filing

In her divorce filing, Crystal claims Ne-Yo has now done the most, by recently fathering a new baby outside of their marriage with another woman. As a result, Crystal states that their marital union is “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.”

According to the divorce petition, their separation date was July 22, 2022. Crystal states that she and Ne-Yo share three children together (Ne-Yo also also has two more children with his longtime ex, Monyetta Shaw), but she says she’s been taking care of the three children ever since their separation.

Reports state that Ne-Yo’s wifey is now asking for primary physical custody of their children and joint legal custody; as well as child support and alimony.

On July 30, 2022, Crystal reportedly did a post-and-delete on her Instagram page, when she took to the platform to initially blast Ne-Yo publicly for ‘cheating.’ In the now-deleted post, Crystal reportedly wrote the following:

“8 Years. 8 Years of lies and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected.. every last one of them! To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is an understatement.”

This Isn’t The First Time They’ve Been Down This Road…

Back in 2020, Crystal filed for divorce from Ne-Yo. However, she eventually pulled her divorce petition, and they’d seemingly worked things out at that time.

What’s odd is that everything seemed all good just four months ago when Ne-Yo and Crystal re-walked down the isle in April of this year (2022). They’d renewed their vows in an extravagant Las Vegas wedding, where several of their loved ones and celebrity friends — including reality stars Nene Leakes and Tammy Rivera — were in attendance. R&B legend, Brian McKnight, and singer, Ne-Yo, received some great news recently, after gettin’ GOT by their former business manager. As far as the news that their ex-manager received, well…let’s just say it’s on the opposite end of great.

A man, by the name of Kevin Foster, was once the manager of McKnight and Ne-Yo, and according to reports, he was recently busted for jackin’ millions from Ne-Yo and hundreds of thousands of dollars from McKnight. As a result, Foster not only received a lengthy prison sentence for those two crimes and others, but a judge is now forcing Foster to pay the two singers their money back ASAP, according to The Blast:

Kevin Foster, the former business manager for Ne-Yo and Brian McKnight, has been ordered to pay restitution for his financial crimes. The judge awarded Ne-Yo a total of $6,456,250 and McKnight will be paid $151,675.

The restitution that Foster has now been ordered to pay back, comes after he was sentenced in New Jersey for several crimes, such as money laundering and wire fraud:

Via The Blast- Foster was accused of getting Ne-Yo to invest millions in a sports drink company under “false pretenses,” and then took millions more from the singer without telling him.

It’s unclear how Foster was caught stickin’ Brian McKnight for his paper, but thankfully he, too, will be getting his money back.

Meanwhile, the two singers’ ex-manager has now been sentenced to nearly 7 and a half years (89 months) in prison after being found guilty.

What Started The Beef

Ne-Yo has a new single titled, “Good Man,” and the song is FIRE by the way! Anywho, Ne-Yo’s “Good Man” song is all about a brotha in a relationship, who wasn’t always the best man to his lady, but is trying to now be the very best man his woman deserves. Ne-yo’s latest joint is reflective of his own life. Today, at 38 years old, he admits that he’s learned and is still learning to be a “good man” to his wife, Crystal Smith.

Amid his journey toward becoming a “good man,” for his wife, Ne-Yo posted a message on Instagram early Saturday (3/17/2018), to not only encourage other men to do the same, but to also bring 90s romance back to R&B music and our society as a whole.

Fans Slam Ne-Yo’s “Hypocritical” Post

As soon as Ne-Yo posted his Instagram message, fans flooded his timeline with allegations about him, his wife, and his ex-fiancee. Many of y’all may recall the 2 year old drama surrounding the claims of Ne-Yo’s ex-wife, Monyetta Shaw. In a 2016 interview, Monyetta implied ‘made her’ get her tubes tied in 2011, following the birth of their second child and suspected that Ne-Yo may have cheated on her with his now current wife, Crystal. Shaw also said Ne-Yo told her he would get a vasectomy as well, but that he then surprisingly called off their wedding in 2013 and went on to eventually have a baby with and marry his current wife, Crystal.

Many folks immediately bashed Ne-Yo, following Monyetta’s reveal. So as you can imagine, after Ne-yo posted his latest IG message, encouraging men to cherish their women, fans pounced all over him in the comments, calling him a “hypocrite,” among other things:

The Instagram Post:

On Tuesday, February 20, Crystal took to Instagram with a photo of their son’s hair.  She then proceeded to compare her straighter hair texture, which she referred to as “Hawaiian Silky” to her and Ne-yo’s son, which is more tightly coiled. In her comparison, she implies that her son is somehow less fortunate than she, for having a much coarser hair texture than her.

“So my son wasn’t blessed with mommy’s ‘Hawaiian silky’ as my sister @nikki_loraine likes to say,” Smith said on Instagram. “Can anyone suggest some good products or moisturizers? Nothing I’ve tried will help the dryness. His hair seems to just soak up everything instantly. Comment below if you’ve had this issue. Helllllllllllp.”

Now, the post appears to have been removed from social media, however, the damage is already done. It definitely didn’t take long for the post to begin circulating on social media. Unfortunately for Crystal, the post has led to all kinds of drama and it’s even sparked a big debate on social media.

Many have taken to various networks to discuss the situation. While many African Americans have explained how they find the post offensive, some have also come to Crystal’s defense, insisting people are just too sensitive. “If she was so worried about having the Hawaiian hair texture, you make babies with a man with that texture. You dealing with black mostly kinkier hair type man, the chances are higher to have such hair,” one social media user argued.

Another person commented, “It’s her son. She can say what she wants. She doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. When u have kids their are some features that u wish your kid may have taken from you that they may not get. It’s no big deal. She’s not talking about someone else’s kid.”

Her Clap Back: ‘People Hating Because Of  Their Interracial Relationship’

Despite all the backlash Crystal has received, she’s made it clear she won’t be backing down or making any apologies. Why is that? Well, apparently she has a totally different take on the situation and argues that people are twisting her words. When TMZ caught up with Crystal, of course, she was asked about the controversial hair comments that have sparked such a debate on social media. Crystal wasted no time defending herself, clapping back at the haters. She insists social media users took her words way out of context. Crystal clarified that she made the comment asking for help with her son’s hair and that her words weren’t an attempt to ridicule her own son. Ne-yo’s wife also says folks are hating on her because they’re mad about their “interracial relationship.”

“I love my child and I quoted something that my sister-in-law [Ne-yo’s sister] says to me, so if people want to take things literal that’s fine,” she said. “I was asking for help and I was met with criticism.” However, the criticism may end up being the inspiration behind a new business venture for the couple. Since Crystal can’t find any hair products that work well for her son, she claims she’ll just have to create one. “But that’s okay because it inspired me to start my own hair care line.”

“They assume I’m not mixed with Black, which I absolutely am,” she said. “And they don’t like Black men being with white women or other race of women and it’s just really stupid … People are gonna say what they want to say and that’s OK. Doesn’t change how I feel about my child.”

Crystal continued her rant, by reiterating how she doesn’t mind putting people in their place when they come at her sideways. “I will check you, but I’m learning to do better at that so it is what it is,” she added. Crystal’s latest Instagram debacle follows a heartwarming photo she shared after becoming a mother. She recalled the birth of their first son together, Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr., who was born in March of 2016. The photo which captured Ne-Yo and Crystal in the delivery room includes a caption that reads, “The absolute best moment in my life thus far ( Aside from marrying you @neyo) The arrival of SJ was the most terrifying and beautiful day ever! I had to have an emergency C-section because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck TWICE! Talk about scary!!! Although the post offered fans a glimpse of an unforgettable moment in the couple’s lives, some fans still had somethin’ to say. Many of the arguments most likely stem from the criticism Ne-Yo received when it was revealed that Crystal was pregnant with their first child. Fans quickly reminded the singer of his alleged hypocrisy where his ex-girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, was concerned.

Hypocrisy Or Nah?:

After Crystal became pregnant for Ne-Yo, Monyetta expressed regret over getting her tubes tied. According to the New York Post, the reality star admitted that she underwent the surgery to burn her fallopian tubes because it was something that he wanted. So, when he moved on and got Crystal pregnant, of course, she was feelin’ some kind of way. Monyetta shared her reaction to Ne-Yo’s relationship with Crystal.

“Now I look back and wonder what I was thinking. I love hard, and I made so many permanent decisions based on what I thought a man wanted from me, not what I wanted for myself. When my daughter comes of age, I will tell her: ‘Your body is your temple. Don’t do anything to it you don’t want to regret.’”

Fans immediately came to Monyetta’s defense, dragging Ne-Yo to hell insisting he “forced” her to have her tubes tied. Then, Monyetta responded to the heightened criticism toward Ne-Yo.

We all know there will always be drama, which is why Crystal and Ne-Yo aren’t sweating any of the backlash. Last month, the couple revealed they are expecting another boy. With the birth of Crystal and Ne-Yo’s second son, the singer will be the father of four children. The two he’ll have with Crystal and his two children from the relationship with Monyetta. Maybe by the time of his and Crystal’s second son together, Crystal will have found a way to better manage her son’s hair texture, a texture that she seems to be new at managing. News. “This definitely wasn’t in the plan and we weren’t trying at all!” When she shared the news on Instagram she admitted that the new pregnancy was quite a surprise because it wasn’t planned but she and her husband are definitely excited. “We didn’t plan for you but you are Gods plan and I thank you for choosing us to be your parents! Impatiently awaiting our newest addition. WE’RE PREGNANT!!!” the expectant mother shared on her post. She added, “I think he did it on purpose–joking!”

Of course, there were fans who congratulated Ne-Yo and Crystal but many fans wasted no time reminding him of his seemingly insensitive demands for his ex-fiance, Monyetta. For those who don’t know, Ne-Yo reportedly asked Monyetta to tie her fallopian tubes after the birth of their second child.

During past interviews, Monyetta has also opened up about the situation and she revealed Ne-Yo also agreed to have a vasectomy. Ne-yo responded that he would be willing to perform at Trump’s Inauguration, not because he supports him, but one of his reasons was because it would be a dope party.

While other African-American performers, such as Jamie Foxx, stated that they wouldn’t even attend. When Jamie Foxx was asked, he said the following.

“I’m going to leave all that alone, It’s kind of crazy,” he said in November.

Ne-yo said he would go for the party and still express his disappointment with Trump being president while there.

Not to mention that Ne-yo would be getting PAID for performing at the White House.

There’s no word on who will perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20th, but it’s probably safe to assume that finding a soul/R&B singer, a rapper, or any Black artist for that matter, who’s willing to sing and dance for Trump will probably be tough for Trump’s team to locate. Too bad Trump’s loyal supporters, Omarosa and Don King, don’t sing…although they have they have been accused of ‘tap dancing’ for him…

By the way, obviously this isn’t just about African American artists, Elton John was rumored to play for the president-elect, but adamantly shot down that speculation with the quickness.
