Now although Chris Rock has been going thru a very messy divorce for about a year, it seems that he’s starting this year on a good note. Last night after hosting the Oscars, Chris Rock, 51 showed off his girlfriend Megalyn Echikunwoke. Check her out, along with another lady on his arms, his mother Rosalie.

If she looks familiar to you, it’s because she’s an actress, best know for her role on CSI Miami.

Rock’s mother Rosalie, 71, showed off her amazing genes as she looked youthful in a black heavily sequined floor length number.

So after almost 2 months of dealing with the unpopular opinions and views of actress Stacey Dash, we’ll fast forward to last night’s Oscars and the Chris Rock/Stacey Dash skit was another jab at the at the notion of Black accomplishments. Yes, we all need to laugh at ourselves and not take things so seriously, but this was not the time or place to “mock” the historical struggle of racism. If you tuned into the Oscars, the Hollywood crowd was left in shock as Stacey Dash was invited on to the stage by host Chris Rock – as he continued to poke fun at the all-white nominations controversy.

Stacey, who infamously said Black History Month should be scrapped, shamelessly walked on laughing before promoting it again – and the reaction was everything we’d have expected and much, much more. Introducing her as “the new director of our minority outreach program”, Chris welcomed Stacey on to the stage to SILENCE.

In addition to the Stacy Dash Skit, there were several other lines from Chris Rock’s monolouge, that question if Chris Rock should have just did his job, but not at the expense of African American people. In short he made a mockery of black people, and it is not a proud moment for the black culture. Here’s I Love Old School Music’s short list of the other lines that took it too far for us;

“Why are we protesting this Oscars? It’s the 88th Academy Awards, which means this whole no-Black nominees thing has happened at least 71 other times.”

“Black people did not protest [in the 60s] because we had real things to care about… Too busy being raped and lynched to care about who won Best cinematographer.”

“When your grandmother’s swinging from a tree, it’s really hard to care about Best documentary, Foreign short.”

“If you want Black people at the Oscars every year, just have Black categories like “Best Black friend.’ And the winner for the 18th year in a row is Wanda Sykes.”

Our take here is that, if it would have been 60s when voting and civil right issues were rampant, and he would have made a joke using the same sentiment; “When your grandmother’s swinging from a tree, it’s really hard to care about voting or civil rights, then if that were the attitude, we wouldn’t taken the steps that we’ve taken now. It wasn’t appropriate then, and it isn’t appropriate now.

The problem is that this gives Stacey Dash completely undeserved relevancy. Chile would never have made it on an Oscars stage otherwise.

While many actors are standing in support of skipping the show, Chris Rock is is caught between a rock and a hard place. Tyrese has a few words for Chris Rock who will be hosting the show this year. As “harsh” as folks may say they are…maybe it’s just the outright truth. Tyrese tells Chris Rock to bail out on his Oscars hosting gig because it’s a no-win situation for the comedian.

“There is no joke you can crack to ever change the way we all feel.”

Tyrese may be right, because this could be the one situation where Rock’s comedic skills won’t be appropriate. But so far, Rock’s standing firm.
