Word on the Old school curb is that Peabo went out on a double date with Sugar Ray Leonard and apparently liked what he saw sitting across the table from him – Leonard’s wife! After Juanita and Sugar Ray divorced, Peabo took his shot and landed his new girl, Juanita. They actually stayed together for about 2 years after that and were engaged to each other a few times. We’re sure this is water under the bridge now for all parties involved, but it would be interesting to know how Sugar Ray Leonard felt about this back then. Here’s Juanita! Sugar Ray Leonard married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Wilkinson, in 1980. Pictured here, you see their six-year-old son, Ray Jr. He’s a splitting image of Sugar Ray, and during their wedding, he served as the ring bearer.

The marriage lasted 10 years, because sometime in 1990 they divorced. Per Wikipedia, during the divorce proceedings, Juanita Leonard accused her Sugar Ray of physically abusing her while under the influence of alcohol. She also said he was an occasional cocaine user. Good thing Sugar Ray didn’t punish Peabo like he punished Tommy Hearns…

After Heart Attack Peabo Bryson & Wife Pay Emotional Visit To 1st Responders Who Saved His Life

Life is unpredictable, as we all know…and for R&B legend, Peabo Bryson, one of the most unpredictable events happened to him in the early morning hours of April 27, 2019, when he suffered a heart attack at his Atlanta, Ga. home. The “Feel the Fire” crooner is 68 years young and seemingly very healthy, so the terrifying ordeal caught his wife and fans off guard.

Peabo has now made a remarkable recovery just weeks after the heart attack and now, first time, he and his wife, Tanya Boniface-Bryson (38), are speaking out about what really happened…and they did so during their visit to thank the first responders who saved his life that morning.

What we’ve now learned is that fortunately, Peabo Bryson’s wife, Tanya, was home at the time of his heart attack and was able to call 911 for help. So a few days ago, they both went to Cobb County Fire Station 3 to personally thank the first responders.

Peabo first expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and the rest of the staff:

“Here I am, thanks to you guys. … You don’t know that you’re going to survive anything like this, but when you do, the life that you had before is not the life that you have now. There is so much to be grateful for and I’ve learned to believe in the concept of second-hand grace.”

Peabo’s Wife Recalls Fighting To Revive Him…

Tanya then chimed in to thank the staff and first responders as well:

“From the minute it happened to the minute they found a pulse to the minute he got better, the whole thing has been flawless and I can’t thank everybody enough,” she said.

Then Tanya turned directly to 911 Supervisor and Dispatcher, Chris Hayes, to thank him for remaining on the phone with her and walking her through the CPR she had to administer to Peabo until the first responders arrived:

“I was a mess,” Tanya Bryson confessed to Hayes. “And you guided me through it in a way that I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.”

She also added a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff who worked diligently to get Peabo back in tip top shape after his heart attack:

“He [Peabo] wasn’t aware of all the nurses working around him, but I was the one liaising with them and talking to them, and they guided me through each phase of his recovery.”

Peabo then big up’ed his wife:

“She gets the ‘Xena Award.’ She is the warrior princess from now on!”

First Responder Reacts To The Brysons’ Gratitude

“When you think of the magnitude of what we do as first responders, I really am not sure that people wrap their minds around the difference that they make in people’s lives,” said Cobb County Department Fire Chief Randy Crider. “There are very few occupations out there where you can lay your head on your pillow at night to say I gave a one year old son an opportunity to be raised by his mom and his dad,” he expressed, referring to Peabo and Tanya’s 1 year old son.

Speaking of the Bryson’s son, as y’all can see in the video above, he is VERY happy his Daddy is still here…and so are we, here at I Love Old School Music.

Update On Status Of Peabo Bryson’s Health Days After Heart Attack

Days after R&B legend, Peabo Bryson, suffered a heart attack, an update on the 68 years young singer has been given.

A representative for Peabo Bryson tells I LOVE OLD SCHOOL MUSIC that his health is on it’s way back to a full recovery, but he’s currently still on the mend. Here’s what the rep explained:

“We are happy to report that Double Grammy / Double Oscar Award-winning balladeer, Peabo Bryson, is on his way to making a full recovery!

Mr. Bryson is still listed in stable condition and is improving, rapidly. The family continues to request privacy, but extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation to friends and fans for the outpour of love and support expressed throughout this experience.”

As far as his upcoming concert dates, the rep says a few of them for the month of May have been canceled, and offered instructions for fans who have bought tickets to the following show dates:

“Concert dates in May have been canceled so that Mr. Bryson can continue his rest and recovery. These dates include:

Efforts are being made to reschedule these performances; however, fans who have purchased tickets are encouraged to call local box offices for details and instructions.”

As we reported recently, the “Feel The Fire” crooner suffered a heart attack at his Atlanta, GA. home on the morning of April 27, 2019. He was rushed to the hospital and at that time his condition was unknown. A couple days later, his rep’ said his family was grateful for “the thoughts and prayers of friends and fans,” and confirmed that he was listed in stable condition, though no further details were given, until now.

As the world continues to pray for groundbreaking director John Singleton people need to extend those same positive thoughts and prayers to legendary R&B singer Peabo Bryson as he’s suffered a heart attack and remains hospitalized.

TMZ was the first to break the news earlier today stating;

Singer Peabo Bryson suffered a mild heart attack over the weekend and is currently in the hospital … TMZ has learned.

A rep for Peabo tells TMZ … the Grammy-winning balladeer was at his home in Georgia early Saturday morning when he suffered the mild heart attack. We’re told Peabo’s currently responsive and both his medical team and family are optimistic he’ll make a speedy recovery.

Peabo, who’s won consecutive Grammys for duets “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion and “A Whole New World” with fellow soul singer Regina Belle , has long been a staple of classic R&B music with a career so successful he still continues touring and amazing audiences with his soulful voice to this day. Many have been offering their well wishes and prayers via social media.

A representative tells us that he is currently listed in stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery. The rep tells us,

“At this time, privacy is requested; however, the thoughts and prayers of friends and fans are welcomed and appreciated.”

The legendary Peabo Bryson is indirectly responsible for the births of many. His his baby making hits, like “Baby Can You Stop The Rain, “Feel The Fire,” “I’m So Into You,” “Tonight I Celebrate My Love,” and SO many more are to blame. We all know his timeless classics, but what many may not know, is that at 67 years young, the brotha is out here having a lil’ baby making fun of his own and lovin’ life with his beautiful wife and 9 month old son.

In an exclusive interview with I LOVE OLD SCHOOL MUSIC, Peabo chopped it up about all of that, including how Aretha helped him find his 37 year old wife, and his fire new album (produce by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) and how he keeps his woman stimulated…plus more…

Why He Waited To Get Married & What Aretha Franklin Had To Do With It

Peabo first wanted to clear up one misconception about his good friend, Aretha, and the ‘diva-tude’ she was so often known for: “She was not a ruthless person or hurtful person. BUT if you got on the other side of that, you truly grabbed a bull by the horns.”

He then revealed that Aretha, oftentimes guided him through his journey of finding true love:

“I wouldn’t even be married now if it wasn’t encouraged by Aretha. … She knows what love is because it’s the one thing that’s eluded her into her life. Now, all she wanted in this life was the one thing that ALL of us want at the end of the day- it’s just to be loved for who we are and not what we do…not what we can do for you…just for WHO we are.

She encouraged me to wait that out, to have patience enough…to not give up faith that I would find the person that I was looking for. And when I did, I was 56 at the time… So, that’s a long time period to wait for something.”

He continued:

“[It’s] my first and only [marriage], because my main thing has always been that I was gonna only do it one time.”

The fact that he and his wife share the same musical passion, helps them also understand each other better. FYI: Tanya’s a British native (half African and half European-British), who’s in a successful British female band called, 411.

On How He Keeps His Marriage Spicy

Peabo Bryson: “Traditional male and female roles are a thing of the past, if you really want a relationship to work. You gotta be willing to play all of the parts. I don’t mind getting up with the little boy, I don’t mind changing diapers, I love cooking, it relaxes me.”

He says that “the only solid foundation in ANY relationship, has to began with friendship,” stating that if one is basing it off of beauty or looks then it will fizzle before it barely starts. However, just because there’s a 30 year age difference between Peabo and his wife, Tanya Boniface-Bryson, don’t get it twisted, the R&B vet’ knows how to keep her pleased in every way. In addition to friendship, Peabo says he and his wife stimulate each other sexually and mentally:

“Here’s the thing, you still gotta ring my bell [sexually], but if you can’t talk to me about it, before, in between, and after, LOL…then…some portion is gonna be empty.”

“Keep the mystery alive- the mystery of who you are and what you are, because we’re always evolving, are we not? At least, I’d like to hope so…So, as you’re evolving, you need to introduce that to your significant other.”

Examples of how Peabo and Tanya keep the mystery alive:

“If I came home one day sitting in the same chair, eating the same sandwich, watching the same program…then I’m boring. But if y wife came home and I’m in the kitchen wearing nothing but a British flag and an apron, LOL…then” Peabo says he’s not boring. “Or if I come home and my wife is wearing a catsuit with some red bottoms, LOL…then AYYYYE!!!”

He continued:

“Or if I come home one day and my wife says lets go to the….museum tomorrow…such and such from Picasso is in town,” then he’s all for that too, because it’s unpredictable yet still stimulating mentally.

Bryson’s advice to men in relationships or looking to get into one:

“Play the role that’s available for you to play and don’t sit around waiting on the woman to do what you consider as ‘woman’s work.'”

The “Beauty & The Beast” crooner credits his 9 month old son, Robert, with keeping to keep him active at 67 years young:

“Listen, I’ve been up since 6:30 this morning. […] He’s scooting across the floor and crawling around and pulling up on everything…and RUNNING around in the walker, not walking [in it] anymore, he’s running in the walker. … So I give him about 30 more days, he’ll be up and walking.”

He also joked about the age difference between his 20-something year old granddaughter and his son:

“As I do this interview, my granddaughter’s in there raising her uncle, LOL.”

A few years ago, we introduced y’all to the London born wife of legendary singer, Peabo Bryson. At that time, Tanya and Peabo had no children together, but Peabo had one older daughter from a prior relationship. Although at 36, his wife, Tanya, is young enough to be his daughter, they’ve been going strong for years and have a major reason to celebrate- the New Year’s Eve birth of their son.

In a series of Tweets, Peabo and his wife expressed their excitement and gratitude for their new baby boy, whom Peabo referred to as Kit Bryson/RobertKittrick-Peabo Bryson. We’re assuming Robert will be the baby’s ‘government name’ and ‘Kit’ will be what his fam’ and friends lovingly call him.

Peabo & Wife Appear On Oprah’s Network

In November 2017, Peabo and Tanya made an appearance on Oprah’s OWN Network, for the reality show, Checked Inn, which focuses on getting couples to spend some quality time together. On the show, they’d announced that their son, Kit, wasn’t expected to arrive until January 26, 2018, but clearly their baby boy and the Higher Power had other plans. Peabo’s STILL Making Music

As you can see from the above clip, Peabo has not slowed down one bit, when it comes to putting in work for his career. In fact, he’s announced that he’ll be releasing a new album, produced by hit-making duo, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis! “This year, in the first quarter. It’s already done. Production by the great Jam and Lewis team. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🎶 […] New music is far more than rumor, it is a finished certainty, I’m happy to say!! Cheers!” Peabo wrote on Twitter.

Needless to say, his fans are hella excited about his new music news and we are too. Can’t wait to see what else 2018 has in store for Peabo, Tanya, and their new baby. Congrats again to the happy couple.

Jody Watley Makes Major Move w/Peabo Bryson, “Solid Gold’s” Marilyn McCoo & They’re All Ageless!

Remember when real R&B music dominated the airwaves back in the day? Those were the days when beautiful memories were created through song, singers sang slow jams that helped us set the mood when we were courting our lovers. That’s also when twerking was nonexistent and slow dragging was the respectable way to get close to that female, or male, you were diggin’ at the house parties and clubs.

Back then, Jody Watley was “Looking For A New Love,” Peabo Bryson wanted to “Feel The Fire” and Marilyn McCoo was hosting Solid Gold, and along with her husband/5th Dimension group member, Billy Davis Jr., they had us vibin’ to “Stone Cold Picnic” on a laid-back summer day.

Needless to say, the days of classic R&B memories, like those, are long gone. However, when we fast forward to today, Jody Watley has just reminded us of what those days were like.

In a series of online posts, the talented and still sexy “Real Love” singer shared some background photos and video of ‘The Colors Of Christmas Tour 2017′ she’s currently on with the above mentioned stars, as well as the youngin’ of the crew, Ruben Studdard (39).

The thing that fans couldn’t help but notice, is how age-less the old school legends are looking these days. Jody is 58, Peabo is 66, Marilyn is 74 and her husband of 48 years, Billy Davis Jr., is 79. They ALL look great and fly as they ever were! Check out the pics below and reminisce with us on this one…

“Feel the Fire” crooner, Peabo Bryson, is one of our all time Old School R&B favorite singers here at ILOSM. So while we had his ’77 “Reaching For The Sky” album on blast at the office, we decided to see what the brotha has been up to lately. We just so happened to come across some photos of he and his lovely wife, who one of the staff members was absolutely convinced was his daughter, but NOPE, she’s his wife.

After being engaged to his ex, Juanita Leonard (who is also Sugar Ray Leonard’s ex wife), a few times throughout the years, they never married and eventually called it quits on their relationship.
