R. Kelly’s hopes of getting his hefty sentence knocked down a few notches just came to a screeching halt, but his lawyer is speaking out and vows that their ‘fight is not over.’

A federal appellate court has upheld R. Kelly’s 20-year sentence in his child po*nography case, dismissing his appeal and affirming his conviction. The “Ignition” singer had tried to have his sentence tossed, claiming that the statute of limitations had expired. However, the court rejected this argument and called his crimes “horrible” and “horrific.”

In a statement to TMZ, R. Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, expressed disappointment with the court’s decision but vowed to continue fighting for her client. She stated, “Our fight is not over. We will seek review from the USSC (SCOTUS) on the statute of limitations questions at a minimum. And he has habeas remedies at his disposal. And if we win in NY, he will be entitled to re-sentencing in Illinois. So this story is far from over.”

This ruling comes after R. Kelly’s 30-year sentence in his New York case. The court acknowledged the influence of the highly influential “Surviving R. Kelly” Lifetime docuseries, but stated that the Chicago case’s sentence was determined separately and based on the nature of his crimes. However, the Chicago court also noted that it ‘kept in mind’ Kelly’s 30-year sentencing in his New York case, citing that case as the “elephant in the room.”

While R. Kelly attempted to paint himself as unfairly portrayed and influenced by the media, the court’s decision solidifies his conviction and sentence in the eyes of the law. His lawyer’s remarks indicate that they will explore all legal avenues available to challenge the conviction and potentially achieve a different outcome.

R. Kelly has come forward to attempt to defend himself against a massive $10.5 million lawsuit filed by six women who claim they were victimized by him. Kelly asserts that he had no knowledge of the lawsuit and should not be held accountable for its consequences.

The lawsuit stems from an incident in December 2018, where the women allege that Kelly and his ‘former manager,’ Donnell Russell, orchestrated a scheme to disrupt a screening of the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ docuseries in New York City by making a mass shooting threat. In August, the women were awarded the substantial amount of $10.5 million.

According to new legal documents, Kelly argues that had he been aware of the lawsuit, he would have vigorously defended himself against the allegations. However, he claims that with the numerous criminal cases and prosecutions he’s currently facing, plus the increasing number of lawsuits filed against him, he struggles to keep track of it all from his prison cell in North Carolina.

Kelly further argues that the lawsuit might have mistakenly fallen by the wayside of his ever-changing legal team, or not been delivered to him at all. He also claims that even if he had received it, he wouldn’t have been able to comprehend the contents or differentiate them from other legal documents, stating, “I cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade schooler.” He relies heavily on his lawyers to explain things to him.

Additionally, R. Kelly denies the claim that Donnell Russell was his manager, as claimed in the lawsuit. He claims that he had zero knowledge of Russell’s alleged involvement in attempting to prevent the ‘Surviving’ screening. Kelly maintains that if Russell did indeed make the mass shooting threat, it was done for his own personal reasons and not at his request.

While the outcome of whether the women will receive any portion of the $10.5 million judgment remains to be seen, one thing is clear – R. Kelly firmly believes he should not be held responsible for this particular lawsuit.

R. Kelly is currently going through yet another sexual assault trial…and this time the female alleged to be the then teen in that infamous tape from the early 2000s is unleashing all the deets that she says are fact, regarding their alleged past relationship.

For starters, we all remember when in 2002 the infamous sex tape emerged of a dude ‘who looked a lot like R. Kelly’ (side note: we’ve got to word it that way for the sake of keepin’ things politically correct, but yeah…that tape) had sex with and urinated on a female who was allegedly not of legal age.

By 2008, R. Kelly was tried and acquitted of all charges related to his sexual assault case involving a minor, mostly because the alleged sex tape victim refused to cooperate with law enforcement and/or testify against Kelly back then. Welp, apparently things done changed, because now, the alleged victim has told it all about what she says went down back in the day between she and R. Kelly dating back to when she was just 14 years old.

Details Of “Jane Doe’s” Testimony

The woman — who is going by the name “Jane Doe” in court docs — is R. Kelly’s goddaughter. She says she’d ask R. Kelly to be her godfather when she was 14 years old in the 1990s, but says their relationship quickly turned sexual.

The now-37-year old woman testified that R. Kelly made his first move at a Chicago recording studio, when he allegedly touched her breasts when she was 14 and Kelly was approximately 37 years old. She also said things soon escalated to sexual intercourse by the time she was 15 years old, stating that Kelly had sex hundreds of times before she turned 18 years old. And apparently, it was so many to count that she eventually summed it up to be an “innumerable” amount of times. She says their encounters occurred at R. Kelly’s home, studio, tour bus, as well as in hotel rooms.

When “Jane Doe” was asked why she continued having sex with R. Kelly, she explained to the jury that she perceived Kelly to be an authority figure, and was unsure how she should react to his alleged requests of her. As a young girl, the woman says she didn’t quite know how to say “no” to Kelly, and that their encounters were so frequent…it eventually felt ‘normal’ to her at that time. But there’s more…

“Jane” also testified that R. Kelly would have her ‘recruit’ other teen girls back then, and that they’d have threesomes with those girls at that time.

Additionally, “Jane” says Kelly began recording their sexual encounters when she was as young as 14.

Simply put…R. Kelly seems to be screwed right about now. Why? Because for many years, “Jane Doe” and her parents repeatedly claimed she was NOT the female in the video, and did NOT have any type of sexual, nor inappropriate relationship with R. Kelly. In fact, she wasn’t even called to testify during his 2008 trial (for the sex tape), because she and her parents were adamant it was not her…even though prosecutors were, however, adamant that it was her in the video.

After already having been sentenced to 30 years in the pen’ for sex crimes, R. Kelly’s latest trial began Monday, August 16, 2022 in a Chicago federal case, in which he’s being accused of similar crimes by 4 different women — all of whom are scheduled to testify. Many of us old school R&B fans once believed Guy member, Aaron Hall, was the laid-back, romantic, R&B crooner type. However, ever since social media emerged, giving Aaron the opportunity to let his true light shine, we’ve learned otherwise.

Those beautiful love songs Aaron sang back in the day were just that — songs — and not exactly a complete representation of who Aaron, the man, is. He’s really one of the rawest and uncensored R&B cats out there, who cusses up a storm, and will tell it like it is, no matter who gets offended by it…which brings us to his thoughts on R.Kelly. And this time, it has nothing to do with Kelly’s recent conviction…apparently Aaron Hall wasn’t diggin’ Kelly long before that.

AARON HALL’S SHADE: “R. KELLY STOLE MY STYLE, BUT CAN’T TOUCH MY SWAG”

Aaron Hall’s diss occurred during a now-deleted video interview with CarltonJordan.com, and it’s from a while back, but still very entertaining nonetheless. Why? Because while speaking on R.Kelly and other R&B dudes, let’s just say *in R. Kelly’s voice* Aaron Hall’s ‘mind was telling him noooooo, but his ego, his EGO was telling him YE-E-EEEES!’ Aaron ‘ain’t tryna hurt nobody, but there is something that he must CONFE-E-E-ESSSSS!‘ And that is, that R. Kelly jacked his entire style…at least, according to A. Hall he did.

Peep Aaron’s throwback excerpts below. He also threw shade at singer, Trey Songz; and singer/producer, The Dream, in true classic Aaron-Hall-fashion.

Aaron Hall: “I know a lot of people out there are saying that R. Kelly stole my style,” Hall said. “But remember he can’t touch my swagger. I got that old school swag, that ’80s swag, and ain’t nobody touching that.”

He continued:

“You should never get mad when someone copies your style, you should feel flattered because everyone knows where they got it from. Like [R.Kelly], he can’t get dropped off in the streets because the streets love me and they know a thief when they see one. Shout out to thieves because I love them.”

His thoughts on The Dream and Trey Songz at that time:

“…As far as music goes, he [The Dream] needs to lose some weight. He writes good songs, but he definitely needs to slim down and I hope he sees this. …

As far as Trey Songz…I’m glad he’s got R. Kelly by the headlock, copying his style, but the king of R&B, nobody can touch my vocals.”

Oop! And there ya’ have I Love Old School Music fam’…Aaron Hall said what he said. Granted, R. Kelly, nor Trey Songz and The Dream probably do not like Aaron Hall’s views of them…but we have a strong feeling that Aaron doesn’t quite give a damn.

And besides, when it comes to the “Bump ‘N Grind” crooner…he has much bigger issues on his hands at this time — like the 30-year prison bid he’s just began serving at MDC Brooklyn. Just sayin.’ 🤷🏾‍♂️

Details Of Joyeclyn Savage’s Engagement Claims In Letter To Judge

Via E!News: In a letter to a judge dated on June 13 [2022] and recently obtained by E! News, aspiring singer Jocelyn Savage shared that she and the R&B singer are engaged and asked the court to hand down a more lenient prison sentence in his case. The letter was filed by Kelly’s legal team ahead of his sentencing.

“My name is Joycelyn Savage, and I’m Robert Kelly’s fiancé,” she began in letter. “I’m writing this letter in support of Robert in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be.”

Joycelyn also described her relationship with Kelly as “amazing,” and added that R. Kelly is “best thing that’s ever happened to me.” There’s more…

“We have a very special connection and are deeply in love, [wrote Joycelyn]. … Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind. .. He’s very determined and focused on his goals, and the things that have been said about him, with me and other women being held against our will is absolutely untrue.”

Joycelyn also wrote that “it breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that I’m a victim.”

“I’m a grown woman, and can speak for myself which is why I wanted to provide this letter to the court,” she added. “[Kelly] is a great man, with a great heart and deserves to be home with his loved ones who are ready to support him.”

Joycelyn wrote her letter to the judge two weeks prior to R. Kelly being sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of all nine charges he was facing — including bribery, racketeering, coercion, enticement and sex trafficking. So, it seems that her letter had zero affect on the judge’s sentencing at that time.

Joycelyn’s Parents Claim Engagement Is BS

According to Joycelyn Savage’s parents, her engagement to R. Kelly is hella suspect. Below, is what their attorney stated on their behalf, regarding Joycelyn’s engagement claim…

Via TMZ: Gerald Griggs, an attorney for Savage’s parents, tells TMZ … she never made the engagement known to the family, and they’ve never even spoken about the possibility beforehand.

Griggs tells us he finds it odd Savage didn’t testify about it under oath, and instead slipped it into the letter submitted to the court. Savage’s family “strongly doubts” the engagement story … and are wishing to reconnect with her to get the full story.

They do admit it isn’t unusual she wouldn’t make it known to her parents — Griggs says she hasn’t really spoken to them since she left to be with Kelly.

As y’all already know, Joycelyn Savage was the one girlfriend (Kelly had several at once) who has stood by his side during his many legal battles. Not quite sure if Joycelyn will continue to be her man’s ride-or-die ‘fiancee’ for the duration of his 30-year bid…but only time will tell.

R. Kelly is in MDC Brooklyn Prison apparently goin’ off, after he says he was violated by the prison’s head honchos and/or rules. Just days after the “Step In The Name Of Love” crooner was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex crime charges, among other charges…he is now pretty much telling the prison they better get tuh steppin’ in the name of cutting him a check for the way he’s being treated. Okay, not exactly in those words, but check out the details of his lawsuit below…

Kelly just filed a lawsuit against MDC Brooklyn because he says he’s being severely mistreated by being placed on suicide watch, even though he is adamant he’s not suicidal. According to the court docs, Kelly says he is being subjected to “cruel and unusual punishment” as a result of the suicide watch the prison has him under, due to the fact that he’s a celebrity.

But there’s more…

Via TMZ: Kelly claims he was put on suicide watch this week after he was sentenced to 30 years in prison, arguing his 8th Amendment rights are being violated because “he is not suicidal and expressly told MDC officials that he was not suicidal and had no thoughts of harming himself or others.”

In the docs, he mentions Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell — who was also placed on suicide watch — saying the same thing has happened to him.

R. Kelly is also describing the harsh hygienic conditions he’s reportedly suffering under while on suicide watch. He says he’s in a single-cell that has no bed rails, nor showers, no shaving utensils, nor toilet paper. He also claims he’s being ‘forced to eat meals with his hands, and being shut off from loved ones.’

Additionally, Kelly couldn’t help but notice that inmates on suicide watch actually do not receive psychiatric treatment inside the MDC Brooklyn facility, according to his observation.

Thus, Kelly is now suing for emotional distress and damages.

Here’s what the The Bureau of Prisons had to say about Kelly’s claims:

“The BOP is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all inmates in our population, our staff, and the public. Humane treatment of the men and women in our custody is a top priority.”

Not sure if the MDC Brooklyn Prison is going to win or lose this new legal battle vs. R. Kelly. But the facility has recently been thrusted into the national spotlight by media outlets that reported many other inmates’ complaints of inhumane conditions. So it should be pretty interesting to see how R. Kelly’s lawsuit plays out.

As y’all have likely heard by now…R. Kelly is gonna be in prison for decades to come — three of them to be exact. However, in case you missed that info…inside a Brooklyn, NY courtroom on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the “Bump n’ Grind” crooner was sentenced to 30 years for 9 charges he was previously found guilty of, including sex crimes and human trafficking. Federal prosecutors accused R. Kelly of targeting women, girls and boys. Judge Ann M. Donnelly handed down the 30-year sentence, which brought one of the highest profiled cases the U.S, District Attorney’s office had seen in years.

The public’s views on R. Kelly’s sentencing have been mixed. R. Kelly’s non-supporters feel the sentencing is perfect, given the sex assault crimes several of his former girlfriends and/or associates have accused him of. However, his supporters believe he was sentenced far more harshly because of his race, while people of other races have received far less time for equally harsh crimes.

It’s the latter group that waisted no time droppin’ by Andrea Lee-Kelly’s (R. Kelly’s ex-wife and mother of his kids) social media page to call her out over this, soon after Kelly’s 30-year sentencing was announced. Peep some of the comments below…

In one post, Drea promoted her children’s acting program, to which one commenter wrote, “This bi**h aint.a damn actress! Unless I want to learn how to be a peophile n act like u a victim instead😂😂😂 and its for KIDS??? uuuhm. Yea”

For several years there seemed to have been a love/not-so-loved type of outlook the public has had with Andrea Kelly. Many accuse her of being a ‘hypocrite’ for supposedly knowing about some of the sexual/physical abuse R. Kelly was reportedly capable of inflicting on his alleged victims,  yet not speaking out about it publicly until decades later, when the support checks Kelly was paying her reportedly began to slow up. On the flip side, other fans applaud Drea for finally having the courage to speak out.

In addition to coming for Drea following R. Another commenter referred to R.Kelly’s sentencing as a diversion. “#RKelly, like Cosby, is a diversion by the white predators who own/run the media to keep attention off themselves. Ever since the release of the documentary, “Surviving R. Kelly,” aired on LifeTime, many celebrities and fans have shared their opinions on the many R. Kelly allegations. While some chose to silently express their views, the legendary songstress, Stephanie Mills, chose to speak out on the issue shortly after the documentary released in 2019. We all remember R. Kelly’s infamous sit-down with Gayle King, where he yelled and scream about how he’d given, “30 years of his career” to everyone throughout the last two decades, and that he was innocent of all sex abuse claims against him. Well, soon afterwards, Stephanie Mills responded to his allegations, stating that ‘he should go to jail for what he’s done.’ On the other hand, the songstress did feel it was unjust for radio stations and streaming services to ban R. Kelly’s music.

According to BlackAmericaWeb, Stephanie Mills definitely believes the R & B singer is guilty, but she also believes that his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, is guilty as well. WOW…now that’s the real scoop!

Ms. Mills went on to say:

“I don’t believe that his music should be muted. And I also believe that the handlers and his ex and his ex-wife and all of that should go to jail, too. You cannot tell me you live in a house with a man and you don’t know what’s going on. That is not true. I don’t believe that. She should go to jail, too. And so should the handlers that helped him”.

Contrary to Stephanie Mills’ viewpoint on this, Andrea Kelly went on the record stating that she was also abused by R. Kelly during her interview on “Surviving R. Kelly,” where she described very cringing details of the abuse she says she experienced while married to the “Bump N’ Grind” crooner:

“It started with yelling and being slapped and grabbed. He chips away at your self-esteem, your ability to even think. You’re just thinking, ‘What do I do to not piss him off’?” she told LifeTime.

Despite R. Kelly’s latest sex abuse conviction, many people are torn between whether his music should be banned or not. While some are not able to listen to R. Kelly’s music the same, others feel as though the art of music should not associate with his personal life dealings. Stephanie Mills was in agreement with this idea, as she felt as though his music shouldn’t be “tied to his alleged crimes.” Black America Web reported:

“Him writing his music has nothing to do with that. Him being an entertainer and a star,” Mills said. “And those parents bringing those children to the show and then allowing him— I have a son; there’s no way I would take my son to a Bruno Mars show, and say ‘OK, Bruno, you can mentor my son. I’m gonna let him stay with you.’ There’s no way.”

It’s unclear if Stephanie Mills feels the documentary should have been released, but she does believe R. Kelly and his ex-wife are guilty.
