Karyn White Tells How She Feels About Being Left Out Of Soul Train Awards

After the 2015 Soul Train Awards aired on Sunday (11-29-15), everybody was wondering why did Babyface have Fantasia sing “Super Woman,” when Karyn White is alive and kicking, and still in the music game?

All of the other artists showed up to sing their own songs during Babyface’s tribute- Brandy, Bobby Brown, Tevin Campbell, and Boyz II Men– but the only person they did the ol’ switcharoo on was Karyn White. We LOVE us some Fantasia, so she was just as entertaining to watch no doubt, but it was very interesting that Karyn was mysteriously missing from the show’s lineup, that’s all.

Anyways, Karyn White took to her Youtube channel on Monday (11-30-15) to formally address this whole absentee performance herself, because she said that she has been getting a ton of calls and questions on social media about her Soul Train Awards absence.

Karyn said that without Babyface, L.A. Reid, and Darryl Simmons producing and writing “Superwoman,” it would have never came to fruition, but that it is SHE who made it a hit. Check out what else Ms. White had to say in the video clip below…

I’on know ILOSM family, it sounds like there are some pieces missing from this puzzle. Why would Babyface ask all of the other original singers, of the songs he produced, to be on the show EXCEPT Karyn White? I’m sure he could have gotten in touch with her, or her people somehow. So my question is was there ever any friction between Babyface and Karyn, or maybe even Babyface and her ex-husband, producer Terry Lewis (of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis)? Whatever the reason, Fantasia did a helluva job like always, but it also would have been great to see the originator, Karyn White, up there too, just for old time’s sake.

With that said, it’s only right that we end this by throwing back to the original 1988 classic version of the ‘Superwoman’ herself, Karyn White, singing her 80’s women’s anthem, “Superwoman”…
