Most of us may not know actress, T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh, by name, but we definitely know her face. She first made her mark in the entertainment game when she had us crackin’ up from her characters on “In Living Color” (1990 to 1994).

She then starred ABC’s “On Own Own,” (which starred the entire popular Smollett family, including Jussie from “Empire” and Jurnee Smollett from “Underground” as well as their siblings). Soon after that, T’Keyah went on to star in Fox’s “The Show,” and Damon Wayans’ animated “Waynehead” for Warner Brothers. Her work also included her role as Bill Cosby’s daughter, “Erica” on CBS’ “Cosby” sitcom (1996- 2000; based on the British show, “One Foot in the Grave”); and then as Raven Symone’s mother in Disney’s “That’s So Raven” (2003- 2005). The acting legend was off the scene for a minute, but she’s now resurfaced, looking just as beautiful as ever and also with a new job title.

Her New Career

T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh was already known as actor, producer and director, but now at 55 years young, she’s added ‘college instructor’ to her resume.’ She’s now teaching and directing drama students at her alma mater, Florida A&M University (FAMU) and making history at her school while at it:

Via Undefeated- In early August [2017], Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) announced that Keymah will become the university’s first W.K. Kellogg Foundation artist-in-residence in the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities theater program.

“Me being here at FAM was a dream of mine, and I am very excited,” Keymah said. “One of the administrators said, ‘You just seem so happy,’ and I said, ‘Oh, you have no idea. I am so happy.’ She said, ‘I have to take a picture of you smiling before the students get here.’ They’re making such a fuss over it…and it made me think, a lot of working actors went to HBCUs. I’m really hoping that some of my compatriots will join me…they need us to return. They need us to return with our expertise and with our favor.”

Heartbreaking Reason She Had To Step Away From Acting

In a prior interview with MadameNoire, T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh explained that the reason she took such a long break from doing what she loved- acting- is because her beloved grandmother, who raised her, needed her more. Her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease just before T’Keyah landed her “That’s So Raven” role, but the amount of time it took to care for her grandmother, caused T’Keyah to finally walk away from Hollywood:

T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh: “I didn’t know anything about Alzheimer’s disease. … I just had no idea what was happening. […] God stepped in, I found wonderful caregivers. They were with me the whole time I was doing the [“That’s So Raven”] show, but my grandmother was getting increasingly worse and it was a bigger and bigger effort to supervise her care and work.

When I started the show, I only agreed to do three seasons and that’s all the network was doing. So when I came to the end of the three seasons…by that point—I mean God bless them. The cast and the crew were just phenomenal and I will always be grateful to them because by that point, my grandmother was so combative that I couldn’t keep a caregiver for her. So I was bringing her to work with me. And [co-stars] Kyle (Massey) and Orlando’s (Brown) mom would watch her in my dressing room while I was on stage. And that just couldn’t go on.

So, when I was done with the third season, I said, ‘Ok, this was all that it was supposed to be.’ And I couldn’t—there was no choice to make, really between work and her. So I chose her and focused on her care. And that became my life until she passed away.”

Years later, T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh is pursuing her passion again. She’s currently starring in the Hulu series, “There’s …Johnny,” which is an adaptation of Paul Reiser’s 1970’s comedy. She’s also starring in several roles for independent projects, TV shows, and theatrical plays. At 55, it’s beautiful to see the “In Living Color” veteran out here fulfilling her dreams to the fullest.

Ever since the 30 year old former child star has been outta the Hollywood limelight for the past few years, he seems to have fallen victim to the ‘ex-kid actor syndrome.’ You know, the kind that is oftentimes difficult for ex-kid stars to escape, due to various circumstances- some within their control, some outside of it. Anywho, fast forward to today and video has surfaced of Orlando violently being taken down by bounty hunters in his underwear…

It was a very hostile situation and Orlando was captured as he apparently tried to hide in a friend’s home. Check out the video and the details below:

Via TMZ: We’re told the crazy video footage — obtained by TMZ — is from a raid by Lucky the Bounty Hunter in Las Vegas around 6:30 AM Friday. It starts with Lucky and his team trying to enter, but getting pushback from the homeowner, who claims they have no legal right. Lucky tells us he had legal paperwork and warrants so they were allowed to enter the home and look for Orlando … so they made it happen by force. After an intense search, they found Brown hiding in a bedroom closet in a t-shirt and boxers and made the arrest. […]

The owner of the Vegas home tells us he was letting Brown stay there as a favor for a music producer neighbor, but he got concerned about harboring Brown when his fiancee showed up Thursday night … saying he was a fugitive.

The home owner is reportedly also pissed off because although he harbored a fugitive, he says the bounty hunters entered his home illegally, damaged his door, and injured his shoulder during the fiasco. He also says he will definitely be contacting authorities over this one.

Why Bounty Hunters Were After Orlando

Orlando reportedly had a warrant for his arrest due to skipping his March 2018 court date for the January 2018 assault charge he caught for allegedly hitting his girlfriend. Oh, you didn’t hear about that one? Well, that was yet another hostile incident involving the “Family Matters” kid.

As we previously reported, Orlando was arrested, along with his girlfriend’s mother, on January 18, 2018, for a heated altercation reportedly involving his girlfriend and his mother. The alleged incident went down at his apartment in Barstow, California, according to a police report obtained by People. The dispute happened around 8 a.m. and when the cops arrived, they took Orlando into custody for unrelated reasons:

Via People: When officers conducted a warrants check on all the individuals, they found an active arrest warrant for Brown from the Torrance Police Department stemming from charges in 2016 including an alleged battery charge, resisting a peace officer and possession of a controlled substance. Brown was booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for those charges. His bail was set at $25,000.

During the time of his January arrest, another thing that caught our attention, was that Orlando actually looked like he was happy as hell to be in jail, based on the way he was cheesin’ it up for the camera that new mugshot…

By the way, in case you’re wondering why his girlfriend’s mother was also arrested at the same time as he was in January, here’s why: When cops arrived to Orlando’s apartment and ran a search on his girlfriend and her mother, Tanya Henson, they found that Ms. Henson had an outstanding warrant as well. Therefore, she too, was dragged right on down to the San Bernardino police station along with her daughter’s man, Orlando.

Laaaawd….hopefully Orlando, his girlfriend and her moms can all make some forward progression in every level of their lives soon.

Remember the witty kid from the 90’s show, Family Matters? Yeah we’re talking about the one who had all that charisma and whose acting skills were like he’d been on this earth for 50 years as opposed to the 10 years he was here when he was on the show.

Well unfortunately all of that talent hasn’t been put to use much lately (with the exception of an appearance in the recent film, Straight Outta Compton), so it sounds like after actor, Orlando Brown, was no longer starring in the hit Disney series, That’s So Raven (which ended some years ago), he’s had a lot of free time on his hands to get caught up into some illegal and foul activity.
He was arrested recently and his arrest had to be one of the most historic and easiest arrests for any cop to make in the history of law enforcement. Know why? Because he was in a police parking lot when he committed the alleged crime.

The illegal crime was that he had meth on him. The foul crime is that he allegedly hit his girlfriend and all of this went down right there outside of the doors of the police department, where several officers were no more than about 15 to 20 feet away, ready and willing to slap the cuffs on Orlando…crazy right?

Here are the details of how this incident transpired via TMZ:

Ex-Disney star Orlando Brown pulled into a police station parking lot while arguing with his girlfriend and then allegedly struck her, while he had meth on him.

Law enforcement sources tell us the bizarre incident went down in January in Torrance, CA when someone using a nearby ATM spotted the “That’s So Raven” star in the car. We’re told the witness saw the couple arguing and called police … who were conveniently located.

Brown initially refused to leave his car, according to our sources — but once cops got him into jail, they found methamphetamine on him. We’re told his girlfriend was not seriously injured.

Brown’s been charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, obstruction of justice and 2 felonies — drug possession with intent to sell, and having contraband in jail.

I’m not sure if Orlando was actually taking the meth that he’s being accused of selling, but if those claims are true, the dude had to have been high on something to think that it was a smart move to actually pull up to a police station with meth on him and strike a woman.
I don’t know what’s going wrong in the brotha’s life right now to make him get caught up in such an unfortunate situation, but I hope he can get his mind right real soon. He is an incredibly talented actor and he’s only 28 years old, so he has a lot of time to right his wrongs, continue building his legacy and set a great example for the youngins coming up behind him.

Unfortunately this isn’t Orlando’s first arrest, he’s been arrested at least three other times since 2007- twice for a DUI and once for possession of marijuana. In another alleged incident, a woman Orlando knows, called the cops on him in 2014 after she said he threatened to kill her, her mother, and her daughter and she told 911 that he was standing outside of her apartment screaming at her…Orlando said that wasn’t him, but police didn’t believe him…not sure if he was ever arrested for that though.
As of late, Orlando has been working on new music because he isn’t only an actor, he’s rap artist. He’s recorded songs with artists like T-Pain, Akon, Pimp C, Raven Symone, and others in the past, and like we mentioned earlier, his most recent acting gig was in the 2015 NWA film, Straight Outta Compton. Hopefully Orlando will get back on track and not continue the path that far too many former childhood actors eventually follow after they have fallen out of the spotlight…right now it sounds like he’s traveling that road.
