I Love Old Schoool Music family, we have extremely sad news to share today. Traci Braxton, the sister of Toni, Tamar, Towanda, and Trina Braxton, has passed away. She was just 50 years old.

According to reports, Traci was battling cancer for approximately one year, yet her fans didn’t know, because she chose to battle in silence. Sadly, she lost the tough on Friday, March 12, 2022.

TMZ shared that ‘Traci’s sisters and mom were by her side when she passed.’

Most of us fell in love with Traci when she first appeared on the family’s reality show, “Braxton Family Values.” She had a big personality, a pretty singing voice, and a beautiful heart…and she was never afraid to speak her mind…which we adored.

In addition to the reality show, Traci was She was an actress, best known for “Sinners Wanted.” She also appeared in “There’s a Stranger in my House” and “Chaaw.” As a solo artist, her song, “Last Call,” reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. Traci also released the song, “Broken Things,” which her three sisters.

Traci’s family is devastated by her passing. And unfortunately, they’ve experienced another tragedy in 2019, when the Braxton’s niece, Lauren Braxton (their brother, Michael’s child), suddenly passed away at age 24 from a reported accidental overdose.

Traci is survived by her longtime husband, husband, Kevin Surratt and their adult son.

Traci Braxton loved I Love Old School Music’s stories, and oftentimes shared our stories online. We love her dearly and she will be forever missed. Rest well queen.

Which Sis’ Toni Kicked Off Tour

As we all have heard by now, Tamar Braxton done stirred up all kinds of drama with her sisters, over her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Vincent Herbert. She recently accused her sisters and mother of attempting to paint a scrub-like image of Vince on their upcoming episodes of “Braxton Family Values.”

Her sisters have publicly hit back at Tamar’s claims and the tension among the ladies is apparently ongoing. That’s where Toni’s latest move comes in. Apparently, she’s decided to keep the reported ‘fire starter,’ Tamar on the tour and kick Traci off instead:

Via TMZ– Toni’s hitting the road with “Sex & Cigarettes,” her first solo album in 8 years, and sisters Tamar and Traci were set to be opening acts until Traci was pulled from the bill this week. Toni’s offered no official reason for the change, but sources connected to the fam believe Tamar’s behind the axing. […]

We’re told Traci’s been working on a new album and intended to perform some of those songs on the tour … so, she doesn’t think Toni would 86 her on her own. Still, Tamar’s team is denying she had anything to do with it.

This leaves many with several questions:
(1) Do you think self proclaimed “petty” diva, Tamar, actually had something to do with Traci being given the boot?
(2) Did Toni succumb to the pressure and simply chose to keep the more ‘popular’ singing sister -Tamar- on the tour, for a bigger show turnout?
(3) Or did Toni think Traci wasn’t quite ready -from a show performance standpoint- to open up for her yet?

The answer could be one, or all three of those choices, but at this point Toni B. and is keepin’ that info on the low.

On a lighter, more refreshing note: Despite Toni having to kick her sis’ off the tour, she did manage to cheese it up for Instagram on her son’s birthday, lookin’ like she ain’t got no worries at-all. Traci Braxton Still Has Reason To Celebrate In MAJOR Way

Traci also has a good reason to celebrate, despite getting booted off Toni’s tour. As we previously reported, Traci’s about to become a grandmother for the first time. Her son, Kevin Surrant Jr. and his girlfriend are expecting. Even though Traci jokingly admitted that she was pissed off and wanted to “punch” them when they first told her they were pregnant, she’s elated about her new grandbaby now.

Traci and her husband, Kevin Durrant Sr., recently threw a baby shower for the expecting parents. In a photo posted online, Traci and the fam’ prayed over the expecting mother, with a caption that read:

Traci Surprised By Grandbaby News

In a recent interview on “Sister Circle,” Traci revealed that she was hella shocked when she found out that her son had gotten his girlfriend pregnant:

“Chiiile, let me tell you the tea. My kids ain’t tell me until November [that], they were pregnant and I wanted to punch him, I really did. … You know, that’s MY child, I discipline him.”

Baby Shower Details

But obviously, soon-to-be ‘Grandma Traci,’ has moved passed her initial anger and shock, because based on Kevin Jr.’s baby shower photos, she’s happy as hell about her grandbaby now. She posted a photo of her and the fam’ having a collective prayer over the expecting mother, with a caption that read:

Traci also revealed this to The Grio:

“[Kevin Jr.] made me a duchess and I’m ecstatic because now my parents, my sisters, and my brother…my grand-baby is making them a first generation of a great grandchild. […] My sisters and I…when we were younger, we said if we ever have kids, and our kids have kids, our names would be duchess. That’s royalty, thats what they call the Queens when they have grandkids. So, I’m royalty.”

Sibling Drama

In other Braxton news, Traci, along with her sisters and mother, have been at odds with sis,’ Tamar Braxton. As we previously reported, Tamar is reportedly pissed off with Mama Evelyn and her sisters because she thinks the ladies are trying to create “fake storylines,” by bashing her estranged husband, Vince Herbert, and his reportedly abusive ways (which he denies) on upcoming episodes of their “Braxton Family Values” show. Tamar reportedly believes her fam’ is plotting to gang up on Vince, in order to destroy him and portray him as ‘a villain.’ It’s also been reported, by sources close to the Braxtons, that Tamar is NOT happy her moms and sisters would “stoop so low for personal gain” a.k.a. television ratings. She’s also allegedly refusing to promote the show, unless she has final approval of the which scenes -as it pertains to Vince- make the final cut before they air on TV.

Trina, Towanda, and Traci Braxton are not ones to take Tamar’s claims lightly. That’s why they decided to speak out and tell their side of the story to TMZ. First, they wanted to give Tamar a wake up call- ‘HELLO!’…they’re all on a reality show, where they display real incidents that happen in their lives. The Braxtons are letting Tamar and the world know, that just because Vince is Tamar’s husband doesn’t make him off limits, when it comes to them giving their opinions about him on their show. The ladies also pointed out that when they were having problems and/or going through their own divorces, they not only shared that part of their story on the show, but Tamar had a LOT to say about it ON THE SHOW. Tamar filed for divorce from Vince in 2017 and prior to that, there were several reports and/or allegations of cheating, domestic abuse, and side-baby rumors. She and Vince have also discussed their marital problems on their own show, “Tamar & Vince,” and in interviews. Therefore, ‘all is fair in love and war’ and Tamar’s marriage is not exempt from that rule.

Traci Braxton spoke to HipHopHollywood about her sister, Toni, dating ‘Mr. Respek On It,’ and she seems a lil’ creeped out at the thought of their relationship, but she explained why. It’s not that Traci doesn’t like Birdman, in fact, she has much love for him, but Toni and Birdman’s relationship is incest…almost…well, at least according to Traci it is. Traci says she and her family view Birdman as part of their family because they’ve been very close to him for many years. So when she found out Toni and Birdman were dating, she viewed their relationship as kissing-cousins so to speak:

“He’s been in the family for such a long time, so it’s like almost INCEST. It’s like kissing your brother in the mouth or something,” said Traci.

Overall though, Traci is very supportive of her sister dating Baby because she says he is a great guy who sometimes gets a “bad wrap” in the media. When asked if she would want Toni and Birdman to jump the broom, Traci said “As long as he treats her right. As girls, we are going to dominate the whole relationship anyway.”

We’re happy that Toni B. found love. Her and Birdman prove that opposites really do attractIt’s too soon to tell, but if Birdman ever decides to put a ring on it, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Respek’ has a nice ring to it, don’t you agree? (I joke I joke, I kid I kid 😂 ).
