They’re 90’s Singers & Their Soul R&B Dad Has Sold Millions Of Records
This R&B duo had a couple 90’s hits back in the day and they are also the sons of a 70’s/80’s singer/songwriter who is responsible for penning many multiplatinum selling hits from the 70’s and 80’s old school soul music era. Old School music lovers have either jammed to or slow danced off of at least on of his Dad’d songs back in the day.
Here are two hints: The mystery singer is a part of a group and his sons’ stage name incorporated his last name as well. You know the drill ILOSM fam,’ see who below…
Their Legendary Father Was Tragically Killed
Their dad is John Whitehead (pictured left in the above photo), one half of the 70’s soul duo, McFadden & Whitehead.
Many of you remember their name, but you probably know their music even more. Their most popular hit is “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” and they’ve also written some of the most classic soul hits to have ever graced soul music, such as “Backstabbers” by The O’Jays, “Wake Up Everybody” by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and many more. Unfortunately they both of them died within 2 years apart from each other- John Whitehead was tragically killed in 2004 and Gene McFadden died in 2006.
As we mentioned earlier, John Whitehead’s sons, Kenny Whitehead and John Whitehead Jr. had a couple mid- 90’s R&B hits that made a little noise back in the day. Their group’s name is the Whitehead Brothers and you may recall their 90’s songs, “Your Love is A 187,” “Forget I Was A G,” and “Sex On The Beach” Check them out below…
This is another Old School fun fact for you ILOSM family. We thought it was interesting to see that Whitehead’s sons carried on their father’s journey in music. Hopefully we’ll hear more from them one day, but until then, we’ll just reminisce to their’s and their Dad’s hits.
