ILOSM fam, it looks like Mariah Carey won’t be tying the knot anytime soon. According to Page Six, James Packer has called it quits. That’s right, the billionaire casino magnate has severed ties with the famed singer.

“It’s all over,” a family friend reportedly told the Australian publication Woman’s Day.

According to the publication, there are a number of reasons that led to Mariah and James’ downfall and fans might be a bit surprised to know what reportedly happened.

The Downward Spiral:

Apparently, their relationship has been spiraling out of control for quite some time. But, Mariah’s recent decision to take on reality TV reportedly made things worse. The family friend revealed James adamantly opposed the idea of her broadcasting their personal lives on television. “James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.”

Although fans may be shocked about the split, it reportedly comes as no surprise to James’ family and friends who weren’t too fond of Mariah from the beginning. While both are wealthy, his family felt Mariah’s level of stardom would eventually prove to be an issue for James. However, the fame wasn’t James’ only reason for walking away.

Lavish Spending Habits:

It’s no secret James Packer is a billionaire, but it has been reported that Mariah’s spending was a bit more than even he was willing to handle. Mariah’s lavish lifestyle and “over-the-top” shopping sprees raised concerns for James. But, he wasn’t the only one concerned about the potential union. His mother and family also had issues with Mariah, according to insiders.

Familial Problems:

 

The past couple months have been a bit difficult for James and Mariah as they’ve reportedly spent very little time together. In addition to the monetary problems, James’ mother also struggled to establish a relationship with Mariah. Since the singer has been busy with her own obligations, preparing for her reality show, she also refused to attend his sister’s birthday party which also created more of a rift between her and his family. All of the problems they’ve faced contributed to the breakup and it doesn’t look like they’ll be reconciling.

Mariah’s World is set to premiere on E! this fall.
