The update from Blow’s wife comes hours after Russell Simmons broke the news that Blow was headed into emergency open heart surgery on Tuesday evening. At that time, the Def Jam founder was immensely worried about his friend, and asked that fans pray for Kurtis Blow in this online message:

unclerush: Fu*k, Captain Kurt damn!!! He just informed me that prayers are needed again. Please put @kurtisblow back into your prayers. He has been called to emergency open heart surgery. Kurtis Blow is a survivor, but this is not good. I say this to all who loved his music, his heart is bigger than his music. His family is a testimony to his goodness. His loving wife of at least 35 years and beautiful children are examples of his willingness to give. Let’s all give him the prayers and our blessings.

What’s Next For Kurtis Blow’s Healing
It’s unclear what the rehabilitation process will be like for Kurtis Blow, but we’re simply grateful that his heart is functioning on it’s own. He may have an uphill battle before reaching 100% recovery, because clearly, open heart surgery is NO joke. However, one step at a time is all that matters right now for the “Basketball” rap legend.

Hopefully, we will be updating y’all with even more good news regarding his health soon. Meanwhile ILOSM family, let’s all take heed to Russell Simmons’ request, by continuing to send prayers up and uplifting energy to Kurtis Blow at this time.
