BAM! The big brother is Spike Lee!!! I know, I know, we had the same reaction that you’re probably having right now, which is ‘Say whaaaaat?!!’

Arnold Lee is a jazz musician (saxophonist) and he’s is Spike’s baby brother from another mother, literally- same Dad, different Mothers.

Like we said, there’s no way we would have called this for a couple reasons, one of them being that Spike Lee has such distinctive features that it makes him one of the most easily recognizable faces in the entertainment world, and although when you look at a side by side pic of Spike and his baby bro, you can see a few of the same features if you look at them closely.

When I think of a younger Spike Lee sibling I expect to see the skinny, pigeon toed Spike walking through Brooklyn in Do The Right Thing. You would be able  spot that Spike anywhere.

The second reason we probably wouldn’t have put them together is because Spike’s brother’s fashion taste is more alternative than Spike’s. Although if we factor in the time that Spike wore this get-up to his favorite team, the New York Knicks game…

and got roasted on the internet with these funny memes, then maybe we can say that sometimes Spike, too, also has alternative fashion tastes. I joke, I joke…we have nothing but love for Spike and his brother, but as you can see from the above photos, Spike was on a mission to make sure everybody in the building knew he was a diehard Knicks fan.
Arnold is the product of Spike Lee’s dad, Bill Lee’s, second marriage to his wife (pictured below). There has been known tension between Spike and his Dad on and off for years over his dad’s wife, who is also Caucasian. There’s more to that story though, because that wasn’t the only problem Spike had with his Dad about this.
Arnold is just an innocent bystander in the whole situation regarding his dad and his big brother, so we’re not quite sure if he and Spike were able to ever see passed that tension that existed before he was even born, but we sure do hope they were able to get past it.

On the brighter side of things, Arnold, like his older sibling, is an artistic person- a trait they inherited from their father. He’s an excellent saxophonist whose style seems to be very similar to the music his Dad has scored for several of Spike Lee’s films, like Mo Betta Blues and Do The Right Thing.  Check out this short clip of Arnold killin’ it on sax…
