D.L., Harvey, & Ced The Entertainer Bring Bernie Mac’s Fam’ To Tears With Emotional Surprise

During an episode of The Steve Harvey Show, Ced, D.L., Steve, and also Guy Torrey, and Mike Epps (via satellite) surprised Bernie Mac’s wife, Rhonda, their daughter, Ja’Niece, and granddaughter, with an accolade their family is forever grateful for. Harvey read a proclamation from Chicago, IL Mayor Rahm Emanuel, officially announcing November 14 as “Bernie Mac Day.”
That was the last thing Bernie’s family was expecting, but the surprise was not over just yet. Via satellite, Mike Epps was standing in front of an auditorium of students, with the principal of Bernie’s and Rhonda’s high school alma mater, Chicago Vocational High School. Bernie’s family looked on in confusion as to what was about to happen.
That’s when Mike happily announced the official renaming of their high school’s auditorium, now called the “Bernie Mac Auditorium.” There was not a dry eye in the building as fans cheered, the Kings of Comedy tearfully applauded, and Bernie’s wife, daughter, and grandbaby rejoiced.
Steve Harvey had a tough time maintaining his emotions, he nearly seemed remorseful. What we later learned is that there may have been some issues between him and his friend, Bernie Mac, at the time of the legend’s passing.
