Former Destiny’s Child singer, Kelly Rowland, has just opened up some very fresh emotional wounds for her during her new interview on 60 Minutes. That wound is the sudden death of her beloved mother Doris Rowland.

The year 2014 was the most joyful and painful one for Kelly. She married the love of her life, Tim Witherspoon, on May 9, 2014 in Costa Rica. She gave birth to their son (her first and only child), Titan Jewell Witherspoon, on November 4, 2014. Then sadly, just three weeks after Titan’s birth, her Mother died suddenly from a heart attack at age 66. It was the greatest pain Kelly had ever felt in her life.

The exact date of Doris Rowland’s passing is unclear, but on December 2, 2014, Kelly released this statement at the time of her Mother’s untimely death:

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today. We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time.” -via Essence

Now, almost two and a half years later, Kelly is painfully opening up about the woman she loved more than any other woman on the face of this earth and the thing she most regretted doing to her just before she passed away. Below are a few things she discussed in her interview with 60 Minutes:

“It just came out of nowhere,” Kelly revealed about her mother’s death, stating that she was ready to “fight with her” Mom through it, but it was too late.

When asked what the last thing her Mother said to her was, that’s when Kelly became even more emotional and admitted that was one of her “greatest regrets.”

“Oh, that was really tough,” said Kelly. “That was … That’s a really tough question. It’s one of my greatest regrets. I actually…I have to carry that to my grave.”

She further revealed that she just was not ready to discuss what she did to her mother that she’ll forever regret. The host, Peter Stefanovic, respected her wishes and moved on.

Kelly then went on to explain how she was by her Mother’s side at the time of her death and how her Mom’s passing engulfs her thoughts every single day of her life, understandably so.

Via News.com: Rowland said the loss of her mother was hard to face because she had just given birth to her son, and then she watched her mother die. “I just watched my son come into this world, and I watched her go,” she recalled. “Like, literally watched her go. I remember when they pulled the plug,” she said as she choked back tears. She then went on to say that “life is such a beautiful, cruel thing”. “There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her,” she said.

KELLY ON HER PAST JEALOUSY OF  BEYONCE’

As many Destiny’s Child fans know, a few years ago, Kelly confessed in her music that she went threw a period of time where she was extremely jealous of her former group member, Beyonce’. She has since explained where that jealousy came from:

“I wouldn’t say it was jealousy, I was happy for her but I was wondering why things weren’t igniting for me the way I wanted them to in my head.”

Kelly said that she let Beyonce hear the song first and that they both “shed a tear” at the time. That was Beyonce’s first time learning how Kelly actually felt about her and the mega success she was having in comparison to her own.

We applaud Kelly for being so transparent about her emotions. Her story reminds all of us that because we never know when our’s nor our loved ones’ last breathe may be, it’s imperative that we do everything in our power to live life to the fullest and most importantly, tell those we love that we love them, honor them, and appreciate them for all that they are, every chance we get.

The Youngins Were Today Years Old When They Learned Who These 90’s Artists Are…
In a new ESPN video clip (below), a few of the top NBA draft players of 2019 were quizzed on what many of us would refer to as ‘common knowledge,’ regarding the 90’s era. For these players- who were born between 1998 and 2000- ‘common knowledge’ of said 90’s nostalgia was anything but.

For example, when shown photos of an Easy Bake Oven, players were dumfounded and some referred to it as a ‘microwave.’ Additionally, they thought rap legend, Ice Cube’s, name was “Iceberg” and that the Boyz N’ The Hood film he starred in was really named “Bad Boys” (as in Martin Lawrence and Will Smith’s film). Also, the players assumed that the 90’s Sister, Sister actresses, Tia and Tamera, were just some random “twins.” Interestingly, they all seemed to know the 90’s movie, Good Burger though. However, nothing -and I mean NOTHING– was more surprising than the players’ utter confusion when trying to figure out who exactly the people were in the throwback pics of Destiny’s Child and Outkast!

One player was able to identify Beyonce in the photo, but assumed the other ladies were “her sisters” or “Soul Sisters”…or something. Another player guessed that Destiny’s Child was actually the “Spice Girls.” While another thought they were the “Cheetah Girls.”

Shown a photo of Outkast…and the draftees were equally as dumbfounded. Most of them had NO clue who Andre 3000, nor Big Boy were, and they damn sure couldn’t name their group. This is in spite of the fact that Outkast is the only rap group to EVER go diamond (sell 10 million records for one album). All that hard work the two ATLiens put in, and still their name didn’t even ring a bell in the minds of these new-breed Generation Z’ers. Help ’em Lawd….

Beyoncé’s a Destiny’s Child story is hitting the stage!

Mathew Knowles is producing the show, “Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical,” and he says it will be premiering in Houston next year. In addition to that, he also plans for Broadway, London’s West End and even a world tour!

The musical will be told from Knowles’ perspective. “I want to pull back the curtain”. “I feel it’s time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I’ve had as a husband, father. And manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams—those of mine and others.” Remember Knowles was Destiny’s Child co-creator and manager.

The musical will begin from the group’s inception and recount its climb to superstardom. It will also tell Mathew’s own rise through the music industry. Knowles says, “Ultimately, the story shares the message that building a dream takes sacrifice. Even at the cost of everything and everyone you love,”

The ladies of Destiny’s Child are all grown up. It’s hard to believe that LeToya Luckett-Walker is a wife and now about to be a mommy. LeToya Luckett-Walker’s baby girl isn’t even here yet, but she is well prepared. The 37-year-old mom-to-be has been getting showered with love and advice from all her celebrity girlfriends, including her former Destiny’s Child member, Beyoncé.

 LeToya Luckett-Walker Has Received Mommy Advice From Beyoncé And Her Celeb Friends:

Back in June, LeToya Luckett-Walker announced that she was pregnant in the most adorable way. Using her precious stepdaughter, Madison, along with beautiful images of herself with her hubby, Tommicus, LeToya shared the exciting news in a creative video.  Madison began by sharing that she knew something that we didn’t know. Then, she sang her own rendition of the classic K-I-S-S-I-N-G song: “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes… the baby!” The song ended with Madison holding sonogram photos.

Since the announcement of her pregnancy, LeToya has received tons of mommy advice from her celeb’ homies, including Beyoncé. The two childhood friends reunited in Texas back in September, during Beyoncé and Jay Z’s ‘On the Run II Tour.’ The Greenleaf star shared with Essence Magazine that the former band members talked like old times. Mrs. Luckett-Walker also said Beyoncé went into “straight mommy mode,” as she celebrated LeToya’s growing belly. As the friends checked out LeToya’s sonogram photos, Bey’ offered mommy advice:

“That was such an awesome moment. There was so much joy in that room. She was … she went into straight mommy mode as far like, ‘Oh my god. What’s she doing? Is she doing this, is she doing that?’ And I was showing them my sonogram pictures and everything. She was just so excited. We’re both very, very happy, and you could feel the love in the room. There wasn’t a lot of people in the room. It felt like it was just us, chatting it up.”

In addition to Bey’ giving the new mommy advice, LeToya’s friends and co-stars, Tiny Harris, Toya Wright, and Monica Brown, have been holding her down, making sure she has everything that she needs:

“Monica, Toya and Tiny, they told me everything that I needed to use. Everything … the right bottles, the right this, the right that, and Monica has been one that has most of the old school advice that still works for her, and I really like that. She’s like, ‘Girl, all my kids stayed in four to six weeks, didn’t go outside, didn’t see the light of day because I wanted to bond with them and connect with them. And I would only leave to go to my doctor’s appointments, because you really need that time with the baby.’ “

Beyoncé and her former Destiny’s Child members have been showing a lot of love, forgiveness, and genuine sisterhood in the past few weeks. First, Bey’ and LeToya Luckett had fans big uppin’ them on their backstage reunion at Beyoncé and Jay Z’s “On The Run II Tour.” Now, just days later, Bey’ has reunited with the former member who took the split from the group the hardest throughout the years- that is, LaTavia Roberson.

It’s Been 18 YEARS!

It was approximately 22 years ago when Bey’s pops, Mathew Knowles, fired LaTavia and LeToya from Destiny’s Child. After giving the two ladies the boot, seemingly so did their DC sisters -Kelly and Beyoncé- because it’s been 18 YEARS since they’ve seen each other! Can you believe that?!! They were like sisters and had been bangin’ it out together in the music gams since they were tweens. However, things happen…but what Latavia just shared about her reunion with Bey, overshadows any bitterness that ever existed between them.

In a series of Instagram posts early Thursday (September 20, 2018), LaTavia revealed that she and her lovely Moms, Cheryl, went to see Beyoncé backstage at the “On The Run II Tour” the other night. LaTavia also admitted it was her first time in 18 years, seeing the woman she refers to as her ‘FRIEND of 30 years.’

In one post LaTavia wrote:

They’ve Come A LONG Way

As we previously reported, LaTavia has been very vocal about her bouts with severe depression, alcoholism, etc. after getting outed from Destiny’s Child. In a 2016 interview with People, she revealed how bad things had gotten for her.

“I never left Destiny’s Child,” [LaTavia] Roberson explained. “That is something that people say. But who would leave Destiny’s Child? That’s crazy! I was dismissed from the group. It was very difficult because of the way that I found out about it. I hate even talking about it, and it’s been 20 years — but it is what it is. We saw the ‘Say My Name’ video on TV, and that’s how I found out I was no longer in the group.

“It was very difficult,” she continued. “I’m pretty sure that it was difficult for all of us — because we were young. My issue was always with the management; it was never with the girls.”

LeToya and LaTavia sued and won lawsuits against Mathew Knowles, ultimately receiving royalties for the records they recorded while in the group. However, that was nothing in comparison to the severe pain that came afterward:

“It was almost like a bad divorce — you’re no longer with your friends, people that you love so much, ” Roberson said. “So that was hard in itself, and then being by myself at that time, when other aspects starting taking ahold of me. It lead me into a depression. And it wasn’t pretty, like at all.”

As many of us continue to root for former “Cosby Show” actor, Geoffrey Owens, following the foul job-shaming he was recently subjected to for working at Trader Joe’s, a former Destiny’s Child has a revelation. LaTavia Roberson is saluting Geoffrey for handling his business by any means and she’s also simultaneously confessed to going through a similar situation.

After Mathew Knowles (Beyonce’s Dad) kicked LaTavia out of Destiny’s Child years ago, she fell on some extremely tough times. In efforts to make ends meet, like Geoffrey Owens, she did what she had to do to earn an honest living. In a recent Twitter post, LaTavia voiced her opinion about Owens’ Trader Joe’s cashier job and revealed that she understood his plight. Why? Because after having sold millions of records and won Grammys in one of the largest female groups of that era, she ended up working behind the counter of a local record shop. She expressed her initial embarrassment every time fans would flock to the store to make sure it was really her . She also expressed her strength of withstanding that part of her life. Here’s what she wrote:

Jackee Harry Makes Her Own Confession While Supporting LaTavia’s Admission

Shortly after getting word of LaTavia’s prior record store employment revelation, former “227” and “Sister, Sister” actress, Jackee Harry replied to LaTavia and what she revealed was equally humbling and real. In her post, Jackee stated that, like many entertainers, she’d fallen on tough times, following the decline of her acting gigs. According to Jackee, if it were not for the help of fellow actress, Loretta Devine, she would have had to take backwards steps in her career, just to stay afloat:

Moral of the story is, celebrities go through ups and tough times, just like us regular folks. What matters is how we get up from the down times and how we maneuver during the up’s. That is what makes the character of a human being, nothing more and nothing less. For the longest, fans heard about LaTavia Roberson and fellow original DC member, LeToya Luckett getting kicked outta the group, but never knew the details. Thankfully, LaTavia Roberson is far removed from her days of deep depression and it’s beautiful that she’s still showing support for her Destiny’s Child ‘sister.’

Michelle Gives Update On Her Mental Health Treatment

On Sunday, Michelle Williams took to social media to let her fans know that everything is all good with her mental health treatment thus far:

“I feel the [love]! I just wanted to let you guys know I’m better,” she wrote on Instagram, along with a pair of ‘praying hands’ emoji. Then Michelle eventually shared the same message on Twitter, adding that “Progress not Perfection! ❤️.”

In case y’all missed the latest news about Michelle Williams, we reported that she bravely checked herself into a mental health facility on Tuesday. She’d previously revealed that she’s battled severe depression since her teen years. Now, Michelle has given an honest message, about her mental health check-in, to her fans:

M. Williams: “For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your well being.” She continued, “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals. Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for betterment of those in need.”

Latavia Speaks Out About Michelle Williams’

As fans are continuing to send well wishes to Michelle online, Latavia Roberson, is proving that she’s a woman of character and sincerity. She, too, commented online, commending Michelle on her bravery:

Latavia: “It takes a strong & amazing woman to acknowledge that they need help. Michelle I’m proud of you & hope this starts a trend for others to seek help if needed. Keep striving and pushing Michele my belle.”

That was big of LaTavia, because as recently as 2016, she revealed that she was still distraught over being kicked out of Destiny’s Child. Beyonce’s dad/Destiny’s Child’s manager, Mathew Knowles, kicked LaTavia and Letoya out in 2000, over reported friction among them. Here’s what LaTavia said in 2016 to People Magazine:

Latavia: “I never left Destiny’s Child. That is something that people say. But who would leave Destiny’s Child? That’s crazy! I was dismissed from the group,” she says. “It was very difficult because of the way that I found out about it. I hate even talking about it, and it’s been 20 years — but it is what it is. We saw the ‘Say My Name’ video on TV, and that’s how I found out I was no longer in the group.”

We applaud Michelle Williams for revealing such a personal issue to the masses. By doing so, she’s helping to remove the stigma – especially among the African American community- that mental health issues should be kept secret and are taboo.

Destiny Child’s, Michelle Williams, Is Prioritizing Her Mental Health:

Michelle Williams, of Destiny’s Child, is leading by example, as she’s just checked herself into a mental health facility to address her struggles with depression. The R&B star-turned gospel singer -who has been open about her struggles with depression in the past- took to Instagram to share with her followers about her decisions to put her mental health first:

“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your well being.” She continued, “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals. Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for betterment of those in need.”

According to reports, Williams is getting treated in a facility just outside of Los Angeles and has been there for the past several days.

In October 2017, Williams also bravely discussed her struggles with depression on “The Talk” daytime talk show. She candidly shared that she unknowingly began struggling with depression in her early teen years and it continued throughout adulthood. She also revealed that her depression was due to unresolved childhood trauma, which she didn’t go into detail about.

“So many people are walking around acting like they’ve got it all together and they are suffering,”  Michelle Williams told the ‘The Talk’ hosts.

While Rising To Fame, Michelle Williams Often Had Thoughts Of Suicide:

In the early 2000’s, Michelle joined Destiny’s Child. She achieved major success and became a household name, singing alongside group members, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland. While she was thankful for the opportunity, Williams says she still struggled with being happy, contemplated suicide, and even wanted out of the group at one point. At that time, Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father and DC’s manager, couldn’t understand Williams’ depression. In all fairness to Mathew,  Williams admitted that she, too, didn’t understand how to classify her condition:

“I’m in one of the top-selling female groups of all time, suffering with depression,” Williams explained on ‘The Talk.’  “When I disclosed it to our manager [Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father] at the time, bless his heart, he was like, ‘You all just signed a multi-million dollar deal. You’re about to go on tour. What do you have to be depressed about?’ I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that ‘I’ve been suffering from depression,” Williams said.  “I didn’t know, until I was in my 30s, what was going on; I thought it was growing pains. I just thought, ‘I’m just turning into a woman’…so I’ve been suffering since between the age of 13 to 15.”

After visiting “The Talk,” Williams took to Twitter to thank CBS for being a safe place to share her story. Williams thanked God for the opportunity to use her platform to save lives and let people know they’re not odd, crazy, WEAK, nor alone…that they instead just need help and guidance to get to find their own emotional balance.
