For decades, the iconic Diana Ross, has never been one to put her foot in hot water when it comes to controversy. Matter of fact, the Motown OG has managed to pretty much keep her nose clean no matter what was being said about her (i.e. the diva rumors, Supremes/Florence Ballard beef etc). So of course it’s now caught many by surprise to see the soul legend steppin’ up to defend her longtime friend, Michael Jackson.

The Leaving Neverland documentary has sparked a ton of controversy regarding the molestation claims that accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, are now saying they endured from MJ. Celebs and fans alike have given their take on the situation and some music outlets are axing Michael’s music.

However, the boss, Ms. Ross and MJ go back like Cracker Jacks and were even rumored to have been romantically involved back in the day. Therefore, she could not couldn’t fight the urge to share a bold message about her late friend, regardless of the controversy.

In a rare move, Diana took to Twitter on Saturday (March 23rd) to share one supportive message for MJ:

“This is what’s on my heart this morning. I believe and trust that Michael Jackson was and is A magnificent incredible force to me and to many others. STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE”

If there’s one thing we love seeing, here at I Love Old School Music, it’s watching our favorite Old School icons thriving and doing what they love best- performing on stage in all their iconic glory. That was the case the other night, for ‘the boss’ Ms. Ross. In case y’all haven’t heard, at 74 years young, Diana Ross is still cuttin’ up on stage and selling out major venues.

She’s in tip top shape, therefore, the brutal beatdown of being on the road several times a year in her 70’s, doesn’t seem to be taking a toll on her at all. In fact, it seems to give her life. Speaking of giving life and such, one of the five children Diana birthed life into, showed up to support her the other day at her concert and touched the hearts of many.

Her youngest child, 30 year old actor and artist, Evan Ross, shared an Instagram video clip (below) of his Mother calling him up on stage in the middle of her set, as the band stopped playing, and the audience looked on in anticipation. During the clip, Diana was in full ‘proud Mommy mode’ as she smiled from ear to ear, gesturing for Evan to start singing…a capella might I add, so we know it’s real.

Without further hesitation, Evan shocked Diana’s fans, because most of them never knew he’d inherited his Mom’s singing skills. But lo and behold, he has…just like his big sisters: actress, Tracee Ellis Ross (yep, Tracee can hold a note) and singer, Rhonda Ross. The jury’s still out on whether, or not, his other two Ross siblings- sister, Chudney Ross, and brother, Ross Naess- can actually hold a note, because as far as we know, they’ve never sang publicly.

They Were In A Music Video Together Too!

Seeing Evan Ross sing to his Moms in the above video, brought us back to that time in 2015, when he released his debut album and had Diana (along with his wife, Ashlee) in the music video. Watching Diana in it, was the coolest thing ever. And again, even in the video, she was beaming with pride as she stood in awe of the man her youngest baby, Evan, has become nowadays. Watch it below…

Evan accompanied his Moms to the club and the club-goers were beyond surprised to see her stroll up in there and get her dance on, like it was 1978 and she was at Studio 54.

Diana Ross (74) couldn’t be more proud of the moves her youngest baby, Evan Ross (29), is making at this time. He’s an accomplished actor, like his big sis,’ Tracee Ellis Ross. He’s a devoted daddy to his beautiful little girl, Jagger Snow Ross. He’s a dedicated husband to the mother of his daughter, singer Ashlee Simpson (33). Also, the brotha is musically inclined, like his mother and his big sister, Rhonda Ross. It’s the latter that he and his wife are focused on building their brand around at this phase of their lives.

Some years ago, Ashlee Simpson had a poppin’ music career, as the pop singer who managed to break free of her sister, Jessica Simpson’s, mega-succesful shadow and carve her own unique lane. Fans adored her as the rebellious lil’ sister of the once seemingly ditzy, cookie-cutter pop star, Ashlee. Out of nowhere, Ashlee fell outta the limelight, to apparently become a devoted mom to her two children (one from a previous marriage to rock star, Pete Wentz) and wife to Evan.

Evan, on the other hand, never quite had the same breakout success with his music, as he’d had with his acting career. However, he has released music in the past, that was actually pretty dope in my humble opinion. They just didn’t seem to take off in the way many would have wanted for the son of an icon, like Diana.

Fast forward to today and the two young lovebirds are joining forces in a new E! Channel reality show that is centered around both of them rebranding themselves as the talented music artists they are. The show is entitled, “Ashlee & Evan,” and it premieres on September 9, 2018. Evan’s sister, Tracee, shared a clip of the trailer on Instagram and boasted about how proud she is of her baby bro.’ In the clip, Diana is seen beaming with pride as well, as she sat in the studio with her son, watching him create his masterpiece. Following in his Mom’s footsteps as a singer are some big shoes to fill, but music is in Evan’s blood and he says he’s got a lot to sing about. In this new song “How to Live Alone,” Evan sings passionately about everything from his wife’s hair, to her lips, saying total solitude is better than being without the one he loves. According to People Magazine…

[My mom] comes into the studio and helps me,” says Ross of the legendary Supremes singer. “She’s so good at it, and she’s been doing it so long. And she’s such a perfectionist. Sometimes I’ll be like, ‘Let me have a few practices before she comes in to hear it.’ ”

When it comes to his mom, “a lot of people are like, ‘That’s Diana’s son, what is he going to do?’ There’s always been a lot of pressure,” says Ross. “But at the same time, you’ve got to do your own thing.”

[Evan] Ross will play Angel, nephew to Jahil Rivera (Benjamin Bratt) and a DJ with a bad-boy streak who is heavy in the Latin music scene. Mike Epps will appear in the Star/Empire crossover episode as Jay Holland, the girls’ record label president who is willing to cross the line with one of them. Luke James, who was mentioned during TCA as a cast addition for the new season, will play Noah Brooks, a top-selling R&B artist at the label. He is charming and a sweet talker with ambitious streak.

Like we said, ‘the boss, Ms. Ross’ has a lot to be happy about in regards to her son. Her grandbaby (Evan’s daughter), Jagger Snow, just turned two; Evan has a new solid acting gig; and of course we can’t forget about the smart move Diana reportedly forced her son to do- have his wife/singer, Ashlee Simpson, sign a pre-nup to protect the money he’ll inherit from Diana! Hopefully Evan and Ashlee will never need to put that pre-nup to good use, but it’s damn sure a great idea to always play it safe. Good lookin’ out Mama D.Ross!

Jagger Snow Ross is her name and she’ll be 3 years old on July 30th, but for her 2nd birthday, she had a cool retro Andy Warhol themed party, equipped with real vinyl records, fake bananas, a Mickey Mouse cake with a Warhol-style can of soup, that read “Jagger’s Tomato Soup,” and a whole lotta love.  Jagger Snow’s family, including her two famous aunts- singer, Jessica Simpson and actress, Tracee Ellis Ross- turned up for her birthday party, as you can see below…

Looking just like her Pops, with her grandmother Diana Ross’ beautiful eyes, Jagger was in her element for her party, as she painted the vinyl records with colorful artistry.

Something In Common With His Idol, Michael Jackson- Art

On a side-note, I can only imagine that for some believers of the everlasting Michael Jackson-Evan-Diana Ross conspiracy, this new artistic revelation about Evan will only heighten their suspicions. What suspicions you ask? Suspicions of some who believe that Evan’s real father is actually MJ, Diana’s rumored ex-boyfriend, and not Evan’s father, the late Arne Naess Jr., Diana’s former husband.

As most of us know by now, Michael Jackson knew his way around an easel and sketch pad too. He had crazy artistic skills that many fans didn’t learn of until after his untimely death in 2009.

So of course some conspiracy theorists may suspect that Evan’s artistic ability was ‘inherited’ from Michael Jackson.

The bottom line is that Evan’s art is the bomb-dot-com and he and Ashlee Simpson’s daughter is as cute as a button.

Ashlee Simpson Ross and Evan Ross welcomed a baby girl on Thursday.

On Friday night, the happy couple revealed their daughter’s name on Instagram.

“We are overjoyed about the birth of our precious baby girl, Jagger Snow Ross,” their message read.

Jagger is the first child for Ashlee and Evan together, but Ashlee’s second. She has a 6-year-old son, Bronx Mowgli, from her previous marriage to Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz.

Ashlee and Evan tied the knot in August 2014.

Diana Ross’ big sister’s name is Barbara Ross-Lee. They once both had a passion for music and used to sing together with their brothers and sisters, but eventually her sister chose a very different path from Diana.

Get this though: While Diana is a big time mega superstar in music, her sister is practically a superstar in her own field. They couldn’t have chosen more different life paths, that’s for sure.

Barbara Ross-Lee is a very well known osteopathic doctor, which as she explained, means this: “We do everything that M.D. physicians do. In addition to that, we are trained to use our hands and work with the musculoskeletal system.”

Like her sister, Diana, did in the music, Barbara’s credentials are off the radar in the medical world. So we’ve compelled a quick list of them:
1. Barbara also worked in private practice for the U.S. Public Health Service for many years, and served on numerous committees.
2. In 1993, Ross-Lee became the first African American woman dean of a United States medical school. She remained dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of Ohio University until 2001. During her tenure there, she reformulated the entire course of study, and drafted a women’s curriculum, earning a reputation as a “change agent.”

3. Ross-Lee and her husband, Edmond Beverly, have raised five children—two daughters and three sons—all of whom have pursued professional careers.
Dr. Ross-Lee has won many awards for her work in the medical field and has published more than thirty scholarly articles addressing a variety of medical and health-care issues.

4. In 2001, Dr. Ross-Lee was appointed vice president for Health Sciences and Medical Affairs at the New York Institute of Technology, and in 2002, she became dean of the New York Institute of Technology’s New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Ross-Lee said that she is the reason for her little sister, Diana Ross’ success, stating:

“If it wasn’t for me, she (Diana) wouldn’t have been successful.”

Dr. Ross-Lee said with a grin, recalling high school years spent in a Detroit housing project, she continued:

I was responsible for watching out for Diana, taking her with me, making sure she did right. Therefore I am the one who is responsible for her. I molded her into what she is today. She’s the choir and I’m at the pulpit.

And there it is folks! It sounds like Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee is just as no-nonsense and “bossy” as her lil’ sis.’ We can’t be mad at that!
