Legendary producer, Jimmy Jam (of the production duo, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis), is the brother-in-law of another legend. Turns out Jam’s wife, Lisa, isn’t the only one in her family who married a famous rich celebrity…her younger sister, Brandi, married (and has kids with) one of today’s greatest athletes.

As many of us Old Schoolers may already know, Lisa and Jimmy Jam have been married for 27 years (since 1994) and have three children together. Lisa’s sister’s marriage didn’t hit the 27-year mark, but she and her famous hubby had a pretty lengthy run at it as well.

Ten years after Lisa Padillia married Jimmy Jam in 1994, her lil’ sis,’ Brandi Padillia, said “I do” to Kevin in a private 2004 wedding ceremony. They also have two precious daughters together, ages 13 and 8. Unfortunately, as of 2019, Brandi and Kevin were in a VERY expensive divorce battle.  Word on the Old School curb is that Lisa came up big time with their divorce agreement. The former Mrs. Garnett reportedly receives $300,000.00 per month in spousal support and $46,000.00 monthly in child support.

The Padillia sisters seem to have a type: successful, powerful brothas. In the past, some have labeled them as gold diggers because of their tastes in men, but I don’t know if those claims hold any truth, or not. However, the sisters at least deserve props for managing to do what many celebrity marriages unfortunately cannot – stay together well past the 5-year mark.

Of the arguments they were saying to me on why he should play, the only thing that really resonated to me was just the fact that once you retire you can’t really unretire, although Michael Jordan was different. That was the one. People said that if he waited another year then he would go into the Hall of Fame and it would be his year [instead of being with Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan in 2021]. I said, ‘Well, you don’t know Kevin really well.’ He’s not really a spotlight guy.”

Jimmy Jam: I went to every [home] game [in Minnesota] and I used to drive my assistant crazy because whenever someone would say, ‘Can you come on this day to work on this project? A while back we reported that legendary producer, Jimmy Jam, and retired NBA’er, Kevin Garnett, share a close bond that began nearly two decades ago, when Brandi Padillia-Garnett -the sister of Jimmy’s wife- began dating Kevin. Now that Kevin and his wife of 14 years are amid a bitter divorce, the family get-togethers probably ain’t the same for Jimmy Jam these days. Anywho, here’s the latest on their divorce war…

Wife Now Claims Pre-Nup Isn’t Valid…
Although Brandi initiated their divorce in 2018 -two years after Kevin retired from his 20 year NBA career- she is now apparently claiming that their pre-nup agreement is invalid. As a result, Kevin Garnett is now on a mission to protect as much of his $300 MILLION fortune as he possibly can.

Via The Blast: The former NBA star filed a request to bifurcate their divorce and set a trial to discuss enforcing the prenuptial agreement against his ex, Brandi Garnett.

Kevin explains there is a “dispute” between the two and Brandi now claims she signed the premarital agreement “under duress.” He wants a trial to decide on the enforceability of the agreement before the former couple get into divvying up their assets and setting guidelines on temporary support he may be forced to pay.

Why They’re Divorcing

According to new reports, Kevin’s wife of 14 years decided to officially say ‘peace out’ to their marriage, when she filed divorce papers on Thursday July 12, 2018. She cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of her wanting a divorce from her husband, who retired after 21 years in the league. The parents of two kids- ages 10 and 5- will now have to figure out their parental custody, but as it stands right now, Brandi is reportedly seeking spousal support and physical custody of their offspring, with Kevin only getting visitation.

This is a big switch up from the ‘happy couple’ they appeared to be on the outside not too long ago. Overall, 2018 hasn’t been the best year for Garnett. In June, his sister, Ashley Danyelle Phelps, made headlines and dragged his family’s name into controversy. Ashley was arrested for reportedly trying to rob not 1, not 2, but THREE check cashing facilities in South Carolina. While at it, she allegedly told employees she had a bomb and that brought on even more charges. So, again, our man, Kev,’ is having it tough this year. Their Twins

The twins, Max and Bella, are still in high school. However, Bella lives the life of a full fledged adult with the many responsibilities she carries on her shoulders. She can be seen in magazine spreads, runways, and billboards, modeling for many brands, including Guess, Drake’s Ovo Clothing, Calvin Klein, V Magazine and more. And as you can see from the above pic, Max has dabbled in modeling as well.

Their Oldest Child

Jam’s and Lisa’s oldest kid, Tyler (20), was an aspiring basketball player, standing at 6’5″, but his parents realized he was better working behind the scenes. So now he’s in college studying sports medicine.
