Model and Baby Phat co-founder, Kimora Lee Simmons, opened up about the challenges of raising her children as the single mother she says she’s had no choice but to be. With five children from past relationships –including two daughters, Ming Lee and Aoki Simmons, with Russell Simmons; son, Kenzo, with actor, Djimon Hounsou; son, Wolfe, with ex-husband, Tim Leisner, an investment banker/former Goldman Sachs exec; and one adopted Son, Gary — Kimora claims that none of her children’s fathers are actively involved in their lives.

Kimora Calls Out Her Exes

Kimora called out all of three of her children’d fathers in an interview with Bustle…

“I have beautiful children, but our necessity for [men] in our life is very minimal,” Kimora candidly shared. “It’s not all that it’s cracked up to be. It’s not giving what it was supposed to have gave!”

At the age of 23, Kimora married Russell, but their marriage ended while their children were still young. She then had a five-year relationship with Djimon, in her 30s; and later married Tim, from 2014 until last year — after finding out through court documents that Tim was already married to another woman. Anywho, she emphasized that she does not co-parent with any of her children’s fathers and hasn’t spoken to Russell in years.

Reflecting on her past relationships, Kimora voiced her disappointment and referred to her exes as “con artists”:

“I’m so bruised by it all. I feel like I’ve run into con artists every step of the way.”

Kimora says even though it may seem like she is the “common denominator” she is rebuking that assumption to the fullest. Instead, she believes it has more to do with her personality and her stance in society. She described a pattern with powerful men who seem impressive on the surface, but hide their insecurities:

“It looks like, ‘Well, it’s all you, all fingers point to you, lady. You’re the one.’ I guess it is me, but I think it has more to do with my personality or my stance in society. Something about powerful men and how they really appear to be powerful and big and this and that. But they’re nursing an ego inside of there. Not just these men, any men. Men, powerful men, famous men, rich men, business rich men, whatever you want to call it. There’s a thing there and I don’t know what it is, but I don’t really have a great relationship with any of them and they’ve left me to it to just kind of do things on my own. I do everything on my own. Like I say, I’m a single mom.”

In 2019…DJimon Hounsou Called Out Kimora Over Their Son

Although Kimora says none of her kids’ fathers are in their lives, it seems that as of 2019 Djimon was fighting like hell to be there for their son. Djimon was interviewed outside of what appeared to be a courthouse, where he was clearly pissed off with Kimora regarding their then-10-year-old son, Kenzo. At that time, Djimon claimed that Kimora was keeping him away from Kenzo. Soon afterward he filed for joint custody of their son.

And get this…in the midst of the Djimon-Kimora drama, Russell and Kimora were still great friends. Russell even attempted to facilitate a resolution between Kimora and Djimon regarding Kenzo. Not sure what resulted from Djimon’s custody battle, but just thought it was interesting how things have seemingly drastically changed…based on Kimora’s latest reveals about her exes.

All in all, it would be a beautiful thing if Kimora and her exes – Russell, Djimon, and Tim – are eventually able to reach a peaceful resolution for the sake of their children.

However, Russell is unfazed by the controversy…or maybe he’s just pretending to be down with the thought of his daughter linking up with a 65-year-old dude. Anywho, in an interview with TMZ, the Def Jam co-founder expressed his unconditional love and support for his daughter’s choices. He emphasized that he respects her autonomy to make her own decisions, even if they might be unconventional:

“I’m not gonna kick and scream about her choices. … All I can do is offer my advice and unconditional love,” said Russell Simmons.

Russell revealed that he had prior knowledge of the relationship before it became public, because Aoki gave him the heads up that the news was about to spread across social media. Despite the backlash and criticism from fans, Russell remains steadfast in his role as a supportive father, offering advice and understanding to his daughter.

Aoki, for her part, seems to be avoiding the noise and negativity surrounding her relationship. She has addressed the backlash through her Instagram Lives, making it clear that she is unbothered by the public’s opinion.

As previously reported, Aoki seemed pretty much unbothered by the news of her alleged older boo-thang surfacing. Soon after the kissing photos of her and Vittorio surfaced, she posted a photo of herself to her Instagram Story, with a caption that read, “Errr well now I know why folks were calling me.”

According to reports as well as recent photos (below), Aoki was spotted kissing Vittorio Assaf, a 65-year-old restaurateur, during a recent getaway to St. Barts.

To put their 44-year-age difference further into perspective…Aoki’s moms, Kimora, is 48; and her pops, Russell, is 66…just one year older than her alleged new man.

Photos published by Page Six show Aoki and Vittorio sharing a steamy kiss on the beach. Aoki, dressed in a bikini, seemed to be having a good ol’ time time with the shirtless 65-year-old businessman. The pictures also captured their playful moments in the ocean, showcasing the apparent familiarity between the young model and the seasoned restaurateur.

Sources have revealed, to People, that Aoki and Vittorio are reportedly officially dating after meeting on the Caribbean island.

This isn’t the first time Aoki has made headlines. In 2023 she was in the spotlight for her public dispute with her pops. However, in a more recent interview, Aoki shared that she is doing great and was excited for the holidays with her family.

As for her future plans, Aoki had previously expressed her intention to attend law school in 2023. It seems like she’s making her own path and following her own dreams, regardless of the attention surrounding her personal life.

Overall, Russell’s kids and Kimora seem to suspect he’s having some mental health struggles, but is refusing to seek the help they fee that he needs.

Wow…the Russell Simmons his family has put on display here seems a to be lot different from the kumbaya-meditating-peaceful Russell his fans have come to know him as in recent years.

During the season finale’ of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kimora (44) gave Khloe Kardashian (35) advice about how to check Kylie Kardashian’s (21) former best friend, Jordyn Woods (21). The drama was over the much talked about controversial ‘drunken kiss’ that Khloe’s NBA baby daddy, Tristan Thompson (28), supposedly planted on Jordyn one night.

What fans have just learned during the finale’s airing, is that Kimora was the one who instigated the public shaming that the Kardashian clique ultimately delivered to Jordyn regarding the ‘kiss.’ In the show’s video clip, Kimora told Khloe and her sister, Kim, the following:

“I just think you guys cannot let people take advantage of you like this. When Djimon Hounsou and ex-supermodel, Kimora Lee Simmons, dated from 2007 to 2012, they seemed like the happy couple. Even after their break-up, they were the perfectly blended family, who smiled in family photos, along with Kimora’s new man, and her ex-husband/hip hop mogul, Russell Simmons.

We don’t know what went down between then and now, but it is very evident that Djimon is NOT feelin’ Kimora right now, and it has everything to do with their 10 year old son, Kenzo.

In the 1997 Amistad film, Djimon epically said “Give us, us free,” but fast forward to 2019 and he’s telling Kimora Lee Simmons, ‘Give me my child!’ Okay, maybe he’s not saying it exactly in those words, but he clearly drove home that point, without flinching, when he was randomly stopped by paparazzi recently.

Kimora & Russell’s Past

Kimora Lee Simmons took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the sexual abuse allegations made against Russell, which Russell has adamantly denied. Kimora revealed that she met him when she was a model at the age of 17, which by the way, is the legal age of consent in New York.  At that time, 35 year-old Simmons was known for dating models. He had the reputation of being a ladies man. After meeting, Russell and Kimora started dating and they married in 1998. Many were surprised that Simmons had finally found a woman to settle down with.

Becoming a power couple, Russell helped Kimora transition from the modeling world, into fashion design, through his Phat Fashions empire, under which his Phat Farm clothing brand became a hit. He also helped Kimora launch her Baby Phat line, where she became President and Creative Director of Phat Fashions. Remember when women everywhere were rockin’ the Baby Phat velour jogging suits with a rhinestone cats on ’em? Simmons introduced Kimora to the world of ‘fabulousity’ and she began to take over the fashion world. In addition to birthing businesses, Kimora and Russell had children. The first was Ming Lee Simmons, who was born January 21, 2000, and the second was Aoki Lee Simmons, born August 16, 2002. I think everyone was shocked when they divorced in 2009. Through it all, Kimora and Russell have remained the best of friends. To this day, the two are so close that Russell is even close friends with Kimora’s husband, Tim Leissner, and is also the Godfather of their son, Wolf.

On her Instagram page, Kimora shared that she was now adding her voice to the many voices that are speaking out against sexual harassment. Sharing her and Russell’s past, gave a brief synopsis of their history. Speaking on his philanthropic acts, Kimora shared that the man she knew has always been kind, a good father, and an avid supporter of helping those in need. Despite the fact that someone she loves is now being accused, Kimora was quick to point out her support of the women who are bravely coming forward. As a mother of 2 daughters, Kimora stressed that these women should not be ashamed and that their accusers should be held accountable.

On the flip side, Kimora also stated that she believed in a fair trial and that she is committed to fighting the injustices of the world.
