The Carver County Sheriff’s Office recently closed the criminal investigation into Prince’s death and thus, made all of the files within the nearly two year case public on their website. Now that they’ve done so, all kinds of information has surfaced, including Sinéad’s interview with investigators in the case. As a result of the major claims Sinéad made about Prince, his ex-wife is clappin’ back as well.

What Sinéad Told Investigators About Prince

Carver County Sheriff’s Office investigators interviewed Sinéad 10 days after Prince’s April 21, 2016 death. His death was caused from an accidental overdose of what we now know were counterfeit Vicodin pills laced with Fentanyl, unbeknownst to Prince. During her interview, Sinéad claimed Prince was a hardcore drug addict, who enjoyed physically abusing women. Check out quotes from her audio interview below.

Sinéad O’Connor: “In the case of Prince, everyone is mistaken who believes that he did not have a drug habit for the entire of his life. He used hard drugs commonly. … I know this because I spent time with the man. … He did not release an album, famously, which is called The Black Album. The reason he didn’t, he told me himself, was that he had been taking so many dark drugs that he had had a vision from God and God had told him, the album [was] evil and he was not to release it. The man’s been using drugs all of this time.”

Even though Sinéad made the drug claims, she also admitted she’d never actually seen Prince do the drugs.

SO: “I’ve seen him in very frightening conditions after using drugs. Now, I cannot say that I ever saw him use the drugs. I never saw him actually take them. He would retire to another room to take whatever the drugs were. When he would come out of the room, he would be very violent, very aggressive. His eyeballs would disappear, literally, from his eyes. They vanished. … He had been extremely violent to a number of women in his life, including myself, and several women were put in the hospital while Prince was under the effects of these medications.”

Sinéad also claimed that Prince -who was a devout Jehovah’s Witness- was supposedly into some type of devil worshipping.

Following the release of Sinéad’s interview, Prince’s ex-wife, Mayte Garcia, spoke out:

Via TMZ- Mayte Garcia tells TMZ he was never violent with her and she never witnessed him being violent with anyone … man or woman. She also says he didn’t do hard drugs while they were together, and she only saw him drunk once. […] Garcia admits she found the reports of Prince’s deadly pill stash shocking and heartbreaking, because she knew him for years and didn’t see anything like that. …

But as for O’Connor’s most outrageous claim — that Prince was into devil worship — Garcia…says he was spiritual and religious, but any claims of him doing something sinister are “ridiculously wrong” … adding, “I strongly deny that in his honor.”

In addition to that, Mayte also thinks that the timing of Sinéad’s claims are fishy, because she says she waited until after Prince was deceased to make them.

Sinéad’s claims do sound a lil’ fishy, but to her credit, she did tell one of those claims about Prince well before his death. At that time, Sinéad claimed, in a prior interview, that she actually had a fist fight with Prince back in the day over the song he wrote for her, “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Read about that HERE. never say the words ‘they’re gone’…
they’ll come back, yeah.”

My husband wrote those lyrics in 1997 after the loss of our son, Amiir. The first time I heard “Comeback,” which he recorded at Paisley Park, my heart fell. The beauty and power of the song deeply moved me but at the time, it was too raw and for me, too soon. Writing the song allowed him to grieve about Amiir in a way that was difficult for him to do in person, even with me, his wife. But music was his refuge. It’s what he knew how to do – what he had to do – as an artist.

And people loved him for it. I’ve had the chance to meet so many of his fans over the years – his “fam” as he called them, short for family, of course, because to Prince, they were. They were much more to him than simply “fans” or “admirers.” I believe they always felt that.

And they returned that love right back, tenfold. Prince was beloved and revered in a way that few artists ever have been or likely ever will be. Online communities dedicated to his music and to his art are thriving. He was selling out shows and touring relentlessly up until his last days.

I’d started out as an admirer of Prince the artist myself – first as a kid dancing to Purple Rain on the radio along with the rest of the world, then years later as a dancer, when I was lucky enough to meet him backstage at a concert. We became pen-pals and friends and I got to know the man. As beautiful as the artist was, I realized that the man was even more so. Many people felt that Prince wanted to remain a mystery but when I was with him, he wanted something else: to share our love and start a family. Those aren’t mysterious things. It’s what most of us want.

This month, on the one-year since his all-too-soon passing, and with all the media surrounding the anniversary, I wanted to, in some small way, leave an impression of light and of love which is what he was. Prince was many things: an artist, an amazing friend, the love of my life and family. I wanted to write a love letter to his legacy. Mystery is often cloaked in darkness. I wanted to share the light.

No one could make me laugh like that man. His personal pranks are legendary. He was also the guy who stole the pants out of my closet and had them altered to fit him (and left me with high-waters!). He loved to spend hours talking about the nature of truth, the universe, and past lives with me. He was a generous artist who always tried to lift up other, less-established artists and give them opportunities to see and be seen. And he was, of course, a musical genius. That’s indisputable.

I broke my silence this month to talk about my time with Prince for one reason: I wanted to make sure something beautiful came out of his story (and our story together). If you look at his music, you will see the dimensions of this special man. He laid it all bare for us to understand, in his lyrics and in his melodies.

None of us can stay in this world forever, but in his music and his singular art, Prince has left a legacy that will live on for centuries to come. In this way, he will always be with us.

Ever since the iconic Prince passed away on April 21, 2016, there have been many details that have surfaced about his life. All of which have been very interesting, being that the world has never really known Prince- the man as opposed to just Prince the music icon. As we approach the 1-year anniversary of his death, Prince’s ex-wife of four years, Mayte Garcia, has been releasing tidbits of intriguing- and at times very heartbreaking- personal information about the man she loved more than any other man in her life. *See Video Interview On Next Pg.*

In preparation for her upcoming memoir, The Most Beautiful: My Life With Prince, Mayte did an interview with ABC News. The things that she discussed ranged from the loss of their babies, to Prince remarrying almost as soon as he divorced her, to his near-death escape during their marriage, and the one thing that made her finally resent him for quite some time.

The Incident That Made Mayte Resent Prince

Mayte revealed that after they lost their first baby just days after his birth, due to a severe birth defect called Pfeiffer syndrome, what Prince did next left her resentful and heartbroken. She says that Prince was very loving, but that he had a pretty controlling personality and pretty much made decisions for them without consulting with her. Therefore, Mayte says she did not have any input into whether, or not, she could be with their baby when he passed away. Prince made the decision for her and did not allow her to be there when their son sadly took his final breathe. Although Mayte later confessed that she felt she’d have never overcome seeing her son die, she later resented Prince for not allowing her to.

Her Suicide Attempt Afterwards

A while later, Mayte tried to commit suicide due to her overwhelming grief and she says she was only to be stopped because her dog stopped her.

As we previously reported, Prince’s first wife, Mayte Garcia, is releasing a memoir titled The Beautiful One: My Life With Prince. She’s detailing everything she experienced for a decade with the man she loved dearly- the good, bad, and the ugly.

Mayte, who started out as Prince’s dancer in 1990 and was married to him from 1996 to 2000, has just dropped a hella big bombshell in her interview with People Magazine and in her book. In a nutshell she says at the time of their marriage she was clueless about his drug usage, but she had suspicions after several odd incidents and looking back now, she’s pretty certain her suspicions were correct. See what she revealed, to People Mag, about a very hidden incident Prince had that nearly cost him his life LONG before his April 16, 2016 death…

Her Admission & Suspicions

“I never actually saw Prince doing drugs. He didn’t want me to. I’m sure he knew what my reaction would be.”

Despite never witnessing Prince using drugs, she references several “disturbing occasions when he told me he was ‘sick’ or had a ‘migraine’ ” that seem to hint at the rock star’s substance abuse issues.

Clarity In Hindsight

“Looking back now and being much older I can see it was something else,” Garcia, now 43, tells PEOPLE. “I never saw him do anything – not even take an aspirin.”

Mayte’s Bombshell #1

And yet within weeks of the couple’s wedding on Valentine’s Day 1996, she received a late night phone call from one of her husband’s bodyguards, informing her that an unconscious Prince had been rushed to the hospital to have his stomach pumped. He claimed he’d combined wine and aspirin.

Bombshell #2

On another occasion, a distraught Prince pleaded with Garcia to return to his hotel room and “flush some pills [that he told her he’d left there] down the toilet.” His wife did exactly what was asked of her, admitting, “I didn’t question what it was.”

“I never told him about my thoughts of suicide [after their son died soon after birth] or how close I had come to doing it. […] But I started to think he knew, because my Vicodin kept disappearing. I assumed he was hiding them to keep me from hurting myself. In retrospect, I don’t know what to think.”

That stomach pumping incident is a really major revelation for two reasons:
(1) The thought that the world came THIS close to losing Prince 20 years ago and didn’t even know it, is scary.
(2) The ’96 incident sounds eerily similar to the reportedly near death emergency airplane landing incident Prince had on April 15, 2016. Just six days before his death, it was reported that Prince’s plane had to make an emergency landing in Moline, IL, to rush him to the hospital for “flu symptoms.” It soon came out that he was allegedly unconscious after a Percocet overdose and his bodyguard was seen carrying his body off the plane as the EMT’s rushed over and gave Prince a ‘save shot’…a shot used to instantly reverse the effects of certain types of drug overdoses…

Like we always say, celebrities accomplished a level of greatness, but they aren’t perfect. They are simply perfectly flawed human beings, just like the rest of us. That doesn’t automatically make them bad people, it simply makes them human. Rest on Prince, we still love you.

By now, most of us have heard that the late Prince and his then wife, Mayte Garcia, unfortunately lost their baby boy just days after he was born in 1996. But there’s way more we didn’t know…

Their son, Amiir, which means ‘prince’ in Arabic, was born with the rare genetic disorder, Pfeiffer Syndrome, which affects the normal growth of the skull and causes deformities.

In Mayte’s upcoming memoir, The Beautiful One: My Life With Prince, she reveals the previously unknown, heart wrenching details of what really went down behind the scenes during that tragic time.

Two weeks after Prince and Mayte jumped the broom on Valentine’s Day in 1996- when she was 22 and he as 37- they found out she was pregnant with Amiir, the blessing they’d both been hoping.

The Doctor’s First Warning & Prince’s Refusal Of Tests

People Magazine, released excerpts of Mayte’s upcoming book and according to their report, everything was going fine with her pregnancy until she started experiencing bleeding. That’s when their doctor warned Prince and Mayte that their baby may have birth defects. The doc recommended an amniocentesis to test for genetic abnormalities, but warned the procedure could cause a miscarriage. Prince refused to risk their baby’s life, so they didn’t do the test:

The doc then told them, “Sometimes the body is trying to release the fetus for a reason.” But Prince, Garcia writes, was against it: “My husband said, ‘No, we’re not doing that.’”

Prince Dropped To His Knees

After returning home from the doctors office, Mayte described how Prince fell to his knees and desperately tried to pray away any illness from their unborn baby:

“Please, bless this child,” said Prince as he prayed on his knees. “We know you won’t allow this child to be harmed.”

“The Most Beautiful: My Life With Prince”

The 304-page memoir, titled “The Most Beautiful: My Life With Prince” is set to be released on April 14, 2017 just a week before the one-year anniversary of Prince’s death.

The book, which has been described as “uniquely intimate, candid and revelatory look inside the personal and professional life of one of the world’s most beloved icons,” will give fans an indepth look at Mayte’s relationship and marriage to Prince from 1996 to 1999.

Hachette Book Group, the company responsible for publishing the book, has released an announcement about the book offering fans a quick overview of what they can expect to read.

“Their unconventional meeting backstage at a concert (and the long-distance romance that followed), to their fairy-tale wedding (and their groundbreaking artistic partnership), to the devastating loss of their children that ultimately dissolved their romantic relationship for good,” the announcement read.

Her Relationship With Prince

Mayte has also released a statement about the upcoming book and her relationship with the late legendary musician. “Prince was loved the world over but few knew him intimately,” Garcia said. “And ours was a rare, almost otherworldly connection. I want to share our love story, and with it the highs and lows–always coming from a loving place, as this man is still part of my family and always will be.”

SincePrince was very adamant about keeping his personal life private, the glimpse into their marriage will probably be quite interesting for many fans.

Bizarre Marriage

Several years ago, Mayte did an interview where she revealed several “bizarre” things about their relationship that will make you laugh and cry at the same time, including the fact that Prince never took off his short “stiletto heels”- not at home, not ever! Prince is 5’2″ and Mayte is 5’4″, so maybe he was compensating for that, who knows? She also said that she never called her then-husband, Prince, any name because during that time he was nameless and had simply changed his name to a symbol; she said the relationship with Prince “screwed up” her relationships after him; and she also talked about the very tragic time when they’d lost one of the two babies they eventually lost, but that they went on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and pretended their precious baby was still alive when they talked to Oprah about him.

After they married in 1996, Mayte got pregnant almost instantly. Unfortunately their son, Boy Gregory, passed away at just one week old due to a very rare birth defect called Pfeiffer syndrome, which is a defect of the skull. Soon after that, she became pregnant again and had a miscarriage and both of those incredibly painful losses are what began to tear their marriage apart.

Mayte explains: “To lose two babies is really scary… it really caught on me emotionally, physically, everything. It took me at least 15 years to get over it and still, to this day, I miss my son. I believe a child dying between a couple either makes you stronger or it doesn’t. For me, it was very, very hard to move forward and for us as a couple I think it probably broke us.”

Bizarrely, within days of losing their son the couple went on the Oprah Winfrey show and pretended he was still alive. She says now they were simply unable to process the death..

“We had to show people that we were strong, that we had faith, and that we would try again. But I didn’t really want to speak to anybody. I was physically distraught. When you miscarry your body is freaking out, like ‘Why can’t I feed the baby?’ so those were the things I went through. Every day was a struggle even to breathe.”

Mayte on never addressing Prince by any name:

“We never had any pet names, and I don’t think in the whole time we were together I called him anything, which I guess is a bit weird,” she confesses. I never called him Prince because I wanted him to be a person to me, not the man behind Purple Rain. Plus, technically, I was married to the Symbol. Our house was full of them, but I just couldn’t say the word. When we got married it was much easier. If someone else was there I could say, ‘Could I speak to my husband please?’ ”

Neither did they ever go out on a date. “I doubt any woman ever has… he’s not really a cinema kinda guy,” she says.

And then Mayte revealed how Prince rocked his high heels 24/7…even in the comfort of his own crib, but she also said that lack of confidence about his height was never an issue for him…

“When I was with him he always wore these little stiletto heels – I don’t know what size he was but I could put my feet into his shoes. But I never felt his insecurity in height. You didn’t see it because he was who he was. He’s also really, really, really funny, which most people don’t realize. This is why so many people fall for him. Prince never, ever mentioned it except to say he wished he was taller so he could play basketball. He was actually a really great basketball player.”

Prince’s ex-wife, Mayte Garcia, officially went on public record to admit that her marriage to Prince was the most “bizarre thing ever,” but she wouldn’t trade that experience for the world.
Prince and Mayte met when she was 16 years old, after her mother, Nelle, submitted a VHS tape of Mayte’s dancing to Prince and his team. Maybe and her Mom eventually met Prince backstage at a show in Germany and Prince thought Mayte’s belly dancing skills were on point, but he didn’t dare touch her with a ten foot pole until she became a woman at 18 -smart move Prince! That’s also when Mayte became the primary dancer for his shows and joined his New Power Generation band.

They started dating when she was 18 and he was 34…four years later they were at the alter joining in “bizarre,” yet loving holy matrimony. Prince also based his entire “Love Symbol” album around Mayte and created the song “The Most Beautiful Girl In The World,” specifically about her.

“When we met I was a virgin and had never been with anybody,” [Mayte] reveals. “I’d always been a very focused dancer and very protected. Prince was my first crush, and my first love, but we didn’t start to get serious until I turned 18. He was very respectful.

“I remember our first kiss, and thinking, ‘Oh God, oh wow, this is not happening!’ I remember it being overwhelming and weird. Our entire time together was amazing and surreal, and he showed me some incredible things and introduced me to incredible people.”

On comparing Prince to other men she’d dated afterwards:

Mayte says: “All the songs he wrote for me, that’s a pretty hard act to follow. I’ve dated a couple of guys, musicians, who have written me poems or songs and I’m like, ‘Seriously, don’t even go there. You can’t compete!’

“But I think I’m now screwed for life because my first relationship was the most bizarre relationship ever and I’m not normal any more. I’ve kind-of been spoiled and I guess I am kind-of screwed-up now.”

Okay let me pause for second and point out that I can’t help but think about the infamous “Chapelle Show” episode when Charlie Murphy told the story about the time they played Prince and his crew in a game of basketball. Chappelle was playing Prince and he named Prince’s team was “Blouses” LOL. Okay we digressed, let’s get back to Mayte…

With a music studio and nightclub inside the marital home, their daily routine was a world turned upside down, going to bed at 6 or 7am and not surfacing until past midday.

“Sleep is over-rated,” laughs Mayte. “When you’re creating, traveling and having the best time of your life the last thing on your mind is sleep. Often we would play an arena then there would be an aftershow, and afterwards you’re not tired because you’ve got so much adrenaline going. We didn’t have cellphones then, and we never wore watches, so time was just never something we would think about. We were our own creators, and he didn’t have anyone to report to. I loved his energy, his charisma.”

She adds: “We last spoke about five years ago when I reached out to him. There is no animosity or bad blood, and he was my husband and the father of my child. So although I am not actively in love with him, I will always love him – he’s a great guy.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard one of Prince’s exes say something was a lil’ strange about their relationship. Back in the day when Prince was dating actress, Carmen Electra, she admitted that she had to sleep in full makeup every night because he loved seeing her look like a sleeping beauty so to speak.

That Prince is something else I tell ya,’ but he’s still a musical genius and as we all know, the term ‘genius’ is on the borderline of having a lil’ bit off crazy mixed in too. Prince fits that definition perfectly and we can’t be mad at him for that at all, do your thing Prince!
