ILOSM fam,’ when you grow up with a dad who’s one of the most iconic musicians/producers ever, you tend to have quite a few interesting throwback memories to share. One such memory is the one Jones’ 46-year-old daughter and “Black AF” actress, Rashida Jones, told during a 2015 interview on Apple Beats 1 radio show, with Vampire Weekend’s host, Ezra Koenig. It involved “Blurred Lines” singer (and son of late “Growing Pains” actor, Alan Thicke), Robin Thicke, and R&B legend, Al B. Sure.

Why Rashida Jones Cancelled Thicke For Al B.

During her Apple interview, Rashida discussed her days growing up with her Pops and actress mom. In doing so, she revealed that in junior high school, she dropped Robin Thicke like a bad habit, for Al B. Sure, but apparently her plan didn’t quite work out when it came to Al B.:

Via Eurweb: “I was 12, 13. His dad was on ‘Growing Pains’ and my mom was on ‘Twin Peaks’ at the same time so we met at an ABC party and we flirted and exchanged numbers, landlines obviously,” Jones recalled. “I called him and asked him to come to junior high prom with me. And then for whatever reason, I don’t remember this, he reminded me of this a few years ago, I called him back and said, ‘I’m so sorry. You can’t come with me because Al B. Sure is actually coming with me.’”

The daughter of Quincy Jones explained Sure was a family friend who was probably trying to be nice, but it wound up not happening. “So you didn’t get to go to the dance with Thicke or Al B. Sure,” Koenig concluded. “I didn’t. I actually worked the door! So sad.”

So, Rashida gave Robin the cold shoulder long before his now ex-wife/actress, Paula Patton, EVER did! For the record, Al B. Sure probably views Rashida as a little sis,’ so like she said, he was probably trying to be nice to her. They have a 7-year age gap and at that time, Al B. was a 19-year-old man, with a very poppin’ music career and millions of grown women practically throwing themselves at him. And besides, as we all know, the “Naturally Mine” singer likes his women older than him. “Growing Pains” actor, Alan Thicke, passed away at 69 from a heart attack in December 2016. But unfortunately, years afterwards, two of his three sons — singer, Robin Thicke (44); and Brennan Thicke (47) — were still having major issues with their pop’s widow, Tanya Thicke (46).

Alan Thicke’s Widow Wins Big & Robin Blasts Her

Alan Thicke’s two eldest sons were legally battling his widow, over the fate of his $15million estate. Now, the battle has come to an end and left lingering emotional wounds. According to The Blast, Robin is accusing Tanya Thicke of ruining his father’s legacy, by going on a media blitz to “feed her insatiable desire for publicity.” This comes after Tanya was rewarded the largest rationing of Alan’s $15M fortune:

Via The Blast- According to documents obtained by The Blast, widow Tanya Thicke will get 40% of her late-husband’s estate, valued at $15,793,278.48. Each of his three children — Robin, Brennan and Carter — will receive 20%. Robin, who is an administrator in the estate with Brennan, blasts Tanya by saying she stayed “True to form” and “initiated a media blitz serving no purpose but to besmirch the Co-Trustees and feed her insatiable desire for publicity regardless of the consequences to Alan’s legacy or his children.”

Along with cash, Tanya gets to keep a ranch in Carpinteria, CA. A $100,000 loan which was given to Robin by his father was also cleared and “forgiven.”

Robin Thicke’s Previous Claims Against Dad’s Widow

Tanya and Alan Thicke married in 2005 and have one son together, Carter Thicke (24). According to the LA Times, in 2017 Alan’s eldest children, Robin and Brennan Thicke, filed a court petition in LA, asking the judge to uphold the agreement their dad and Tanya had before their 2005 marriage. The docs state that Tanya “threatened to make her claims fodder for ‘tabloid publicity’ unless the Co-Trustees agreed to participate in a mediation and succumb to her demands.” Also included in the filing, are Alan’s 1988 living will, as well as the updated revisions their dad made to it in February 2016.

What Alan Thicke Left Wife In His Will:

It seems that Thicke’s three sons and his widow pretty much received what his latest will ordered, because here’s what was previously reported about that in 2017…

Via LATimes: Under the terms of the prenup, Callau …was to receive $500,000 from a life insurance policy, 25% of her husband’s personal effects, all the furniture at the actor’s ranch property, all death benefits from his pensions and multiple union memberships, and 40% of the estate that remained after specific bequests are handled.

Ownership of the ranch — called out in the prenup as Alan Thicke’s separate property — was bequeathed to Robin, Brennan and Thicke’s youngest son, Carter, in equal shares, the documents said. Callau was given permission to continue to live at the ranch as long as she kept up the property, paid expenses and agreed to consult with her late husband’s sons before making any major changes, the documents said.

“My clients [Robin & Breenan] made every effort to resolve this without the need for going to court,” said attorney, Alex Weingarten. In regards to Tanya’s demands and claims that Alan’s prenup isn’t valid: “What’s better than some? More,” Weingarten told The Times on Tuesday. “We’re not going to litigate this in the media,” he said. “We’re not going to play games. This is too important. We’re talking about a man’s legacy.”

“To not have that same energy with my career and watch it happen for someone else was definitely a challenge for me,” said Jon B. “It was humbling to watch another guy come into the scene and everyone’s asking, ‘What do you think about Robin Thicke?’ in every interview I ever did.”

Soon, the public started comparing Jon B to Robin Thicke and that was a nightmare for Jon B:

“From the very beginning I felt threatened because that was sort of my neck of the woods, the Babyface thing, and I felt kind of like, okay this guy kind of came in and stole some of my wind,” Jon B said. “It really was apparent for me early on and I let it kind of get to me a little bit, and I think I kind of fed into it a bit. That was a challenge and I definitely had to adjust to the whole scene of it not being a new thing to be a white guy in R&B, that there were other guys that were in this thing, too, that were doing this thing. You were going to have to deal with being compared to them and vice versa.”

It wasn’t until recently that Jon actually met Robin, when they did a show together in Baton Rouge, LA. That’s when Jon took a moment to get a few things off his chest to the “Blurred Lines” singer:

“‘I’ve had to talk about you for many many years,’” Jon B told Robin. “He said, ‘That’s got to suck,’ and I said, ‘Absolutely, it kind of does.’ Nevertheless, I did it and I’ve tried to be as respectful as possible because I think people want to pose [us] almost like fighters against each other.”

The good thing is that Robin seemed understanding of where Jon was coming from and now, the two may end up working together in the future, if Jon B. has it his way:

“I would love to do a song together and leave it at that and that would be a dope collaboration.”

The fiancée of R&B singer, Robin Thicke, is out her stirring up these social media streets with her latest reveal. The model and mother of two of Robin’s children has been on social media clappin’ back at fans who have slammed her for being anti-choice in the heated ongoing controversy surrounding the latest abortion bans passed in Alabama.

As Robin’s woman, April Love Geary, shut down her haters, she also bared her soul with a public confession about her own abortion, as well as her belly just three months after birthing their second baby girl.

April: Since I’ve been getting a bunch of DMs saying things like “how could you support abortion when you’re a mother yourself” so this is MY body, MY body after having an abortion in 2014, a miscarriage in 2017, delivering a baby in 2018 & 2019.

I’m glad I was able to make decisions about MY body without facing any type of punishment. It’s scary to think that women won’t be able to choose to abort if that’s what they want/what’s necessary. “You can be anti abortion for yourself and pro choice for anyone who isn’t you because you realize you shouldn’t get to make the rules for someone else’s body and you’re not going to a single thing for the child they can’t/don’t want to carry. This is possible & necessary.”

As many of us know, Southern California has been going through an extremely tough time over the past few days. The Woolsey Fire and Hill Fire have ripped through many parts of Southern Cali. Also, the deadly Camp Fire currently burning north of Sacramento, has sadly claimed 29 lives.

Over 260,000 residents in Los Angeles and Ventura counties alone have been forced to evacuate. Some of those evacuees included Jamie Foxx and his family, as well as Robin Thicke and his fam.’ Both stars have had two different outcomes so far, and now they’ve spoken out about it.

Robin Thicke & Pregnant Girlfriend Devastated

Soon after fleeing himself, his pregnant wife, April Love Geary; and their child to safety, Robin posted a message on Instagram, thanking firefighters for their help with trying to save their home:

“As we drove to safety, they risked their lives trying to save our home.”

Then came their heartbreaking revelation, that they’d completely lost everything. Their home was reduced to just rubble ad Robin spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the massive destruction they’re Malibu estate endured:

“It’s a great community, it’s a community of wonderful people, a lot of parents whose kids go to the same school as my kid,” Thicke shared. “It’s just devastating.”

He continued:

“It’s funny, [from what] you see movies, you’d think there would be one doll left over, or a book of course, something. [But] it’s just rubble,” Thick reflected somberly. “There’s nothing left.”

Thicke plans to rebuild:

“Coming back here, there’s a lot of hope. I see how many homes are standing, [there are] a lot of positive things that a lot of people who had to evacuate don’t know,” said Thicke.

He also sent a hopeful message to other residents who are still evacuated:

“A lot of your homes are still standing. … Ours didn’t make it, you know… sometimes it happens,” added Thicke. However, he plans to rebuild. “We love this area, we love the people here, we love this neighborhood. Luckily, some of the property is still intact, you know, [it was] just the home.”

Jamie Foxx Asks For Prayers After Fleeing Cali Wildfires

In an interview on Live Kelly And Ryan Show, Jamie Foxx revealed that he had to evacuate his home and that his family members, who reside with him, are all living out of hotels at the present moment.

He thanked the firefighters for working 24/7 to ward of the wildfires. He also thanked one firefighter in particular, ‘Whistling Pete’, whom he revealed is a really nice dude, who always rides around Jamie’s Thousand Oaks neighborhood to whistle and play with the kids. At this time, there are thousands of residents still evacuated from their California homes. There’s also major damage and destruction to the homes of many, including many more celebrities. Marvin Gaye’s kids and wife have a good reason to be toastin’ it up right now, while singer, Robin Thicke and producer, Pharrell, are pissed off. In addition to that, all other music artists are probably worried after what just went down in an appellate court on Wednesday.

They Lost Again

For the third time, Robin and Pharrell have been ordered to pay millions to the Gaye fam,’ after being accused of jackin’ Marvin Gaye’s song, “Got To Give It Up,” for Robin Thicke’s 2013 hit, “Blurred Lines.” They only good news for the artists, is that the amount of millions they have to dish out is a tad bit less:

Via WIPR: Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have been denied a rehearing in a copyright infringement case involving a Marvin Gaye song. Yesterday, July 11, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit refused the hearing and upheld the judgment that the song “Blurred Lines” infringes Gaye’s 1977 song “Got to Give it Up”.

[Gaye’s]family was awarded $7.4 million in damages. The district court rejected Williams’ and Thicke’s request for a retrial in 2015, although it did reduce the damages to $5.3 million.

Why Marvin Gayes’s Kids Previously Won For

As we previously reported, in 2015 the Gaye family hit Robin and Pharrell with a copyright infringement lawsuit for “Blurred Lines,” which also features rapper, T.I.. At that time, the Gayes and many Gaye fans felt that “Blurred Lines” jacked Marvin Gaye’s 1977 classic, “Got To Give It Up.” By 2015, the Gaye fam’ actually won the case and Pharrell and Robin disagreed that they’d outright jacked Gaye’s song, so they appealed. That appeal lasted for almost two years and then in March 2018, the Gayes won big time money again:

Via Forbes: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals sided (in part) with a lower court by stating that “Got to Give It Up” was “entitled to broad copyright protection because musical compositions are not confined to a narrow range of expression.” The court confirmed that Gaye’s estate is entitled to 50% of all royalties from that song forever. It also found that the rapper T.I., who contributed one verse, wasn’t personally liable in the case and is not responsible for damages.

Why The Music Industry Is Now Shooketh

After word got around about the major win the Gaye family just received for not only $5 million, but also half of all future profits the song generates, the music industry and it’s legal experts are baffled and quite frankly shooketh to be damneth.

You see, this new court ruling seems to have just changed the course of the music game forever. Why? Because although it’s evident that “Blurred Lines” was ‘inspired’ by the likes of Marvin Gaye (with it’s use of a cowbell and such), it isn’t exactly a replica of the song. So now the new uncertain general assumption, is that artists can no longer be ‘inspired’ by legends who came before them, unless they pay the artists for inspiring them.

Many argue that will be an extremely difficult creative feat for musical artists to avoid, given the fact that most artists are inspired by those who came before them in some way or another. That’s an understandable concern. At this point, many industry experts are keeping a close eye on Pharrell’s and Robin Thicke’s case- if they attempt to ask the court to reconsider their appeal- because this could forever change the music game going forward.

Robin Thicke’s Previous Claims Against Dad’s Widow

Tanya and Alan Thicke married in 2005 and have one son together, Carter Thicke (20). According to the LA Times, in 2017 Alan’s eldest children, Robin and Brennan Thicke, filed a court petition in LA, asking the judge to uphold the agreement their dad and Tanya had before their 2005 marriage. The docs state that Tanya “threatened to make her claims fodder for ‘tabloid publicity’ unless the Co-Trustees agreed to participate in a mediation and succumb to her demands.” Also included in the filing, are Alan’s 1988 living will, as well as the updated revisions their dad made to it in February 2016.

Via LATimes: Under the terms of the prenup, Callau …was to receive $500,000 from a life insurance policy, 25% of her husband’s personal effects, all the furniture at the actor’s ranch property, all death benefits from his pensions and multiple union memberships, and 40% of the estate that remained after specific bequests are handled.

Ownership of the ranch — called out in the prenup as Alan Thicke’s separate property — was bequeathed to Robin, Brennan and Thicke’s youngest son, Carter, in equal shares, the documents said. Callau was given permission to continue to live at the ranch as long as she kept up the property, paid expenses and agreed to consult with her late husband’s sons before making any major changes, the documents said.

“My clients [Robin & Breenan] made every effort to resolve this without the need for going to court,” said attorney, Alex Weingarten. In regards to Tanya’s demands and claims that Alan’s prenup isn’t valid: “What’s better than some? More,” Weingarten told The Times on Tuesday. “We’re not going to litigate this in the media,” he said. “We’re not going to play games. This is too important. We’re talking about a man’s legacy.”

It’s sad this Thicke family drama had to go down this way, but we wish the family all the best. Pretty sure Alan would haven’t wanted them all to get along.
