As y’all have likely heard by now…Anita Baker has been out her cuttin’ UP in the social media streets, calling out her now-former tour buddy, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, in a dispute about her tour. Well, not only have fans been draggin’ the “Sweet Love” legend over it…singer, Tank, and the legendary DJ Kid Capri, did a lil’ calling out of their own about Anita.

Anita Baker’s Beef With Babyface Began Bubbling Months Ago

In case you missed the unfortunate fiasco that went down on Twitter recently, Anita Baker is apparently fed up with Babyface…and his fans — whom she dubbed as “Kenny’s creepy crazies” — after it was revealed that she has supposedly been pissed with Babyface ever since a May 10th tour performance.

Though the tour had been running ever since February 2023, it was in May when tensions between the legends apparently arose, after reported technical issues caused a two-hour delay for Babyface’s scheduled set. At that time, Babyface apologized to their fans, via social media, and announced that Anita decided to skip his performance altogether that night:

“I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at the Prudential Center,” Babyface wrote at the time. “I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety. My band an I are extremely saddened we didn’t get to perform for y’all tonight.” – Babyface

Fast forward to this past weekend, up through Monday (6/13/23), and it has now been confirmed – per Anita’s tweets – that the bad blood she has toward Babyface has seemingly never slacked up ever since it began.

In a series of tweets, Anita made it hella clear that Babyface was her ‘opening act,’ and not her co-headliner. Translation: She is in charge and therefore, couldn’t care less about what y’all think about it. Peep her days-long tweets below:

“Dearest one. You are Not, privy to *The Contracts*. Yes, Babyface is Special Guest/Support Act, on My Tour,” she tweeted. “This False Narrative, of A Co-headliner is creating Unrealistic Expectations & Aggression, from his fans towards me. He should tell you guys, the Truth.”

Anita continued:

“After Silently, Enduring Cyber [Bullying]/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, or Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings.”

Babyface’s Class-Act Reply To Anita’s Diss

Following Anita’s announcement, Babyface yet again had to address his fans regarding this matter:

“I’m saddened by the news that Anita has decided to remove me from ‘The Songstress Tour.’ It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media. While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour.” – Babyface

What Kid Capri And Tank Had To Say About Anita Baker

Once Kid Capri and Tank heard about this, they called out Anita in a not-so-Babyface-like-way, and fans loved it.

Kid Capri replied to Babyface’s announcement with this:

“I did this man’s wedding to Tracy years ago, and recently seen him, he’s a great man, and no disrespect, but this is not the first time I heard something like this coming from the Anita.”

Tank ultimately made a whole video message (video below) to shut down Anita Baker – respectfully of course – in honor of his mentor and friend. He captioned his video with this:

“Just can’t stand by and not talk about the truth of it all. My apologies @babyface but i’m not as meek and mild mannered as you are. It is a flaw of mine but somebody has to say something!”

Not The First Time

Welp…just like Kid Capri stated…this isn’t the first time we’ve heard something like this about Anita Baker either. As we previously reported a while back…Anita Baker allegedly had issues in the past with Luther Vandross; Jill Scott; and even the mother of actress, China McClain — who once took to social media to go off on the R&B songstress over that situation. We’ll leave that for another day though.

At any rate…although we love us some Anita Baker ’round here — just as we do Babyface– we still gotta to call a spade a spade. And right now, Ms. Baker has seemingly taken her Babyface-issues to petty levels…just ask Beyonce’ (and if need-be, re-read Anita’s tweets above to see what we mean).

There is an upside to all of this…maybe the online draggin’ that Ms. Baker is now getting a whiff of, from fans and celebs alike, is just what she needs to truly grasp that it’s a new day and age in the world of social media, and that everyone — including legends — can get called out when/if they’re presumably wrong.

Nevertheless, we still rock with Anita Baker’s timeless music all day, errday, and twice on Sundays. And when it comes to Babyface…of course we dig his music, as well as his personality, because he’s genuinely a nice dude. Wishing both legends all the best going forward.

Tamar Drags Tank For Filth As He Taunted Her About Her Band Ditching Her To Perform With Him:

Tamar Braxton let it be known that the show will go on with or without a band. The r&b singer allegedly fired her entire band after they failed to show up for a show in Philadelphia. She posted about the incident on her Instagram story:

Remaining the consummate professional, Tamar then posted a video of herself singing her heart out, with no band in sight. The original caption read “Well my band is fired (tag the bestest).. CAUSE….my tour got picked up today officially ? #bboh.”

After Tamar let her fans know why they didn’t get the full Tamar experience, R&B crooner, Tank, jumped in and began to taunt Tamar about her former band. In a video posted to his Instagram page, Tank informed Tamar that her former band now worked for him as they performed at the Essence Fest. According to Tank, he personally knows the musicians that once worked with Tamar and he alleges that they would never intentionally miss a gig. He claims that they are “good guys” Tank felt the need to defend their honor, because he felt like Tamar attacked them.

Tamar responded to Tank’s statements because she, too, agreed that the fellas were cool. However, the “Braxton Family Values” star maintained that their behavior was unprofessional. Tamar stated that she didn’t post the comment about her former band’s actions to attack them, but she wanted her fans to know what happened. In closing, Tamar criticized Tank for interfering and informed him that his actions reflected what a woman would do in a scenario, such as that one. Calling Tank “Sweet Tank,” Tamar called him out for once publicly admitting that he enjoys ‘getting his salad tossed’ by females during sex. Tank then responded that Tamar wouldn’t win the argument, claiming to have receipts about Tamar and her husband, Vince Herbert. “The New Edition Story” actor even referred to Tay’ as “nasty” and insinuated that she was not married to Vince.

After Tank’s shady comments, Tamar let him have it, by calling him out for allegedly having a “tour girlfriend.” This doesn’t look good because Tank is days away from marrying his longtime girlfriend, Zena Foster. Tamar also implied that Tank was possibly gay when she stated that only a “true Queen” would call another woman “nasty.”

As we previously reported, lately Jaheim has had everybody and their mommas talkin’ about his new appearance. He’s resurfaced rockin’ dyed reddish brown hair and eyebrows, as well as a much smaller frame and seemingly gaunt face. His whole look has raised suspicion that something is ‘wrong’ with him, or that he’s clearly going through something.

The Lawsuit:

It has been reported that Tank -whose real name is Durrell Babbs – has been accused of jackin’ music. But not only that, Tank’s producer, Johnnie Newt, known as J. Valentine, and Atlantic Records have also been included in the suit.

Popular Black Eyed Peas musician, Kerry Marshall – widely known as Kerry 2Smooth – is described as an “a artist developer, producer, and member of the recording academy.” According to The Jasmine Brand, Marshall alleges that the song “Only One,” on Tank’s latest album, “Savage” is the song in question. The Black Eyed Peas lead guitarist explained how he has a YouTube channel that consists of an instructional catalogue of some of his music. In one video, he played several R&B chords and riffs as part of a lesson to help other musicians perfect their skills. One of the videos featured the chords and riffs that were used in Tank’s song. It’s also important to note that Marshall’s video was uploaded long before Tank’s song and album was released.

Marshall argues that the riffs and chords are nearly identical to the ones he played in his video. In the lawsuit, he alleges that Tank and his production team copied “key structural elements, themes and motifs from his song.”

Of course, listeners will probably have an array of different opinions about the two songs, but you can check both of them out for yourself. The first clip is Marshall’s instructional video, which was uploaded to YouTube on October 17, 2014. The second video features the official audio from Tank’s new song. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that somethin’ isn’t right. You’ll hear the similarities in the first five seconds of both clips.

The Damages:

Marshall is reportedly seeking approximately $150,000 in damages per infringement and attorney fees. Now, that the lawsuit has been reported, Marshall’s video is circulating on social media. Needless to say, fans are definitely givin’ the singer the side eye. Of course, most people still love his album, but the latest developments have raised questions. Fans have taken to social media to share their opinions of Marshall’s video. Many people agree there’s no denying that the music is stolen. “Dang they didn’t even try to change it up one bit. It actually sounds like they straight used his music off the video. Wow!..” the person commented. Another person agreed, “Damn, Tank and them lifted that shit straight from dude’s video!”

Another person admitted although they love the song, it definitely appears to be a stolen piece of work. “Yep they Def jacked it. I loved this track on the album too. Since their both part of ASCAP, BMI community Atlantic or the producer Def gonna pay up.”

Tank recently turned heads on social media when he reached out to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for a movie opportunity. Then, he clapped back at a fan after he was criticized for doing so. At the time, Tank expressed how difficult it is to find great financial opportunities in his line of work. But now, he has fans scratching their heads because he’s turned down a television opportunity he and his wife, Zena Foster, could have profited from. However, Tank has a legitimate reason for his decision.

Not Enough Money:

With all the drama associated with the show, Tank reportedly decided to make an executive decision and turn down the offer. In a nutshell, the drama isn’t worth the amount of money E! is offering Tank for the show. The insider also explained how the payment structure works. “Husbands and boyfriends are technically on the show in a supporting role, so they don’t get compensated as much. They only get paid a fee and the women (who are really the cast) are paid per episode.”

It has also been reported that Tank reportedly tried to negotiate with VH1 for a bigger payday, but to no avail. Since VH1 refused to go up, “Tank felt like he was worth more money than he was offered. The network wouldn’t budge so they cast the show without them.”

The Show Must Go On:

However, it looks like the show will go on. According to E! News, there’s a star-studded cast consisting of “some of music’s most savvy women and their significant others as they live their first-class lifestyles,” according to Deadline.

The show’s cast includes Crystal Smith, wife of singer, songwriter, producer and actor Ne-Yo; La’Myia Good, married to songwriter and producer Eric Bellinger; Shantel Jackson, in a relationship with rapper, singer, songwriter and producer Nelly; rapper and songwriter Lola Monroe, in a relationship with rapper, songwriter and producer King Los; Asiah Azante, married to recording artist, songwriter and producer Kid Ink; Nazanin Mandi, engaged to singer, songwriter and producer Miguel; and newly single recording artist Alycia Bellamy.

Back in July, Jeff Olde, E!’s Executive Vice President for Programming & Development, released a statement about the show after the first season was given the green light. “We are excited to give viewers an all-access pass to see how these fearless women climb to the top both personally and professionally.”

Hopefully, Tank’s audition goes well for the Hobbs movie. If so, his decision to turn down The Platinum Life may be a big power move.

We all know Tyrese and Tank haven’t been on good standing ever since their TGT falling out, but both of those cats are talented singers/actors. So, Tank could really be trying to “expand his horizon” as an actor. But because of the current tension between Tank, Rock and Tyrese, some of Tank’s  fans think Tank might have had a petty moment. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t get the audition he’s hoping for. Surprisingly, The Rock has responded to Tank and it looks like he just might have a shot.

The Rock Claps Back:

The latest news about Tank follows The Rock’s recent clap back at all of the hate he’s received since the spinoff was announced. Although the Scorpion King actor didn’t say any names, it looks like there is a strong possibility his words may have been for Tyrese and his other Fast and Furious co-stars. According to Too Fab, The Rock recently took to Instagram to thank Universal Studios for the opportunity he’s been given to do the spinoff. But he also had a message for the “candy asses” who he feels are attempting to stop others from having opportunities to join the massive platform.

“Thank you UNIVERSAL STUDIOS for being tremendous partners who see the big picture and for coming to us years ago with this spinoff idea. Huge shout to my brother, Jason Statham for the trust and wanting to create and deliver something fresh and bad ass for the fans,” he wrote. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for this franchise that I’ve enjoyed droppin’ blood and sweat in over the years and my vision is to create greater opportunities for not only my fellow FF castmates, but for other amazing actors as well who want to be a part of something new and cool.”

The Rock continued:

“I want to use my spinoff platform to create new characters that fans will ultimately love to have fun with in multiple chapters and platforms,” he continued. “Film, TV, Digital, Virtual Reality etc.. the more opportunities we can create the better for the fans. Based on The Rock’s intention for the spinoff platform, Tank may be a great candidate for the new film. So, its definitely going to be interested to see how this turns out.

Most of us didn’t know who Tank was until 2001, when he dropped his hit single, “Baby I Deserve.” What many also didn’t know, is that he was in the music game well before that, thanks to Aaliyah and Ginuwine. Before Tank  became a solo artist, Ginuwine first put him on by adding him as a background singer for his tour. This was when Ginuwine was at the height of his career and was damn near like the ‘second coming’ in the world of R&B.

Aaliyah also helped Tank’s career. While on tour with Ginuwine, Tank said that Ginuwine let Aaliyah (who was also on that tour)  hear Tank and the other background singers. Aaliyah was instantly like ‘Oh y’all gotta be my background singers for the tour too.’  She also featured Tank on her 1996 hit, “Come Over.” Those opportunities gave Tank’s music career a much needed boost at that time. Somebody done pissed off singer, Tank’s, fiancee and she made it known she wasn’t about the games today.

Tank and Zena Foster have been together for the past 12 years and Tank finally popped the question to her in January 2017. All was fine and dandy, until one commenter took a jab at Zena and then flirted with Tank via the comments, saying that she couldn’t wait to see him on the tour in the V.I.P. section.

It sparked an online debate about new school hip hop vs. old school hip hop as everybody and their Mommas weighed in on the topic.
