ILOSM fam’ get ready, because Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes are about to have us crackin’ UP in their upcoming roles for an ABC reboot of The Jeffersons.

Now, before we get extra hyped about this hilarious duo reprising the roles of ‘George’ and ‘Weezy,’ let’s not put the carriage before the horse on this one. Though we’d love to see an entire series of these rebooted characters, their roles will only last for one night only in a live special tribute that executive producer, Norman Lear, has cooked up.

In addition to The Jeffersons, acting legends, Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei, will be starring as ‘Archie and Edith Bunker’ for an All In The Family reboot as well:

Via ABC: ABC’s late-night host Jimmy Kimmel presents a live, 90-minute prime-time event in tribute to classic television sitcoms: “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons” teams Kimmel with television icon Norman Lear and executive producers Brent Miller, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Justin Theroux. This special, airing live WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 (8:00-9:31 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, will take viewers down memory lane, recreating an original episode from each of the Emmy® Award-winning series All in the Family and The Jeffersons. This legendary night of television will be hosted by Lear and Kimmel, and directed by 10-time Emmy winner James Burrows.

…In this new, one-night-only event, Woody Harrelson will take on the role of Archie Bunker, alongside Marisa Tomei who will be playing Edith Bunker, with Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes playing George and Louise Jefferson. Ellie Kemper will play Gloria Stivic; Will Ferrell will appear as Tom Willis, and Justina Machado is set to play Florence Johnston. More stars will be named later.

“The fact that a group of Oscar® winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is a testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman Lear. To be a part of this is a dream come true for me and for everyone involved,” said Jimmy Kimmel.

We’re most definitely looking forward to seeing Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes deliver laughs to us come May!!

Now, if only Norman Lear would do a Good Times reboot, then he’ll REALLY be saying something…and if that day ever comes, hopefully the show’s African American co-creator of the show, Eric Monte, will finally get the pay he deserves…just sayin.’

Roseanne’s Racist Comment About Obama & His Advisor

Throughout the past few months, Roseanne has voiced her continued support of Donald Trump’s views and she used her comedic personality in interviews, to help minimize any backlash. As a result, the newly rebooted “Roseanne” show saw major success from presumably Trump supporters. Welp, Roseanne apparently got way too comfortable with her latest success and has now allowed her true colors to show in a racist tweet.

She tweeted that former Pres. Barack Obama and his African American advisor, Valerie Jarrett (shown above (R) with Obama), were the result of “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes.”

As y’all can imagine, thousands of people started going OFF on Roseanne in the comments, over her racist tweet.

Roseanne couldn’t take the heat and ended up deleting her tweet. She then had the nerve to ask fans for forgiveness in her next tweet, but the damage was already done. Roseanne wrote that she is “truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.” She also stated that she was “leaving Twitter.”

Too Little Too Late- Wanda Sykes Quits

It only took one hour after Roseanne’s so-called apology, for comedian/actress, Wanda Sykes, to make her sudden exit from stage left. Sykes, who is a writer for the “Roseanne” sitcom, announced she was leaving with one short message, “I will not be returning to [‘Roseanne’].” FYI: Word on the Old School curb is that Valerie Jarrett and Sykes have been friends for years.

ABC Announces Cancellation After Roseanne’s Racist Tweet

Shortly after Wanda Sykes’ departure, ABC pulled an abrupt move of their own and their African American president, Channing Dungey, announced they are giving Roseanne and her reboot THE BOOT…

ABC: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

Ha! See ya Roseanne!

Executive Producer Quit Weeks Ago

This whirlwind of a fiasco Roseanne Barr has now created, comes just weeks after yet another vital piece of the “Roseanne” sitcom puzzle abruptly quit. Whitney Cummings was the executive producer for the show and she walked away, only stating she was suddenly too busy to be a part of the highly rated show…yeah okay.

Chelsea Clinton Claps Back At Roseanne After She Tries Her

Roseanne also took a minute to throw shots at Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton, during her Tuesday Twitter tirade. However, Chelsea’s classy clap-back was priceless:

Barr kicked things off by tweeting, “Chelsea Soros Clinton.” She then responded to a comment on her own tweet to tout the debunked Soros theory, which was created by former “Charles in Charge” star Scott Baio in 2016.

Mo’Nique Received Support & Backlash From Many

Following Mo’Nique’s boycott call, she received a lot of support from fans, but she also received a lot of backlash and/or laughs from those who feel she does not have a strong enough point. That is why Jada has now decided to defend Mo’Nique.

Jada Speaks Out In Mo’Nique’s Defense, Encourages Everyone To See Bigger Picture

Y’all already know Mrs. Pinkett-Smith has always been one to stand up against inequality. Remember when she kicked off the Academy Awards boycott that sparked some of lowest ratings ever the ceremony had ever seen? At the time, millions stood with Jada, after seeing how the Oscars had managed to shut out Black actors that year. But for some reason, many are not taking Mo’Nique’s Netflix boycott as seriously. Therefore, Jada has posted an online message to further explain why we should all be more compassionate about the cause Mo’Nique is really trying to bring awareness to. Here’s what she wrote on Twitter early Tuesday:

You don’t have to like Mo’Nique’s approach. You don’t have to agree with her boycott but don’t allow all of that to make you blind to the fact that non-white women and impoverished white women are underpaid, underrepresented and undervalued EVERYWHERE by EVERYONE.

After seeing her message, many fans had a change of heart regarding Mo’Nique’s stance. They agreed with Jada, that there should be a=some type of pushback toward Netflix, until the corporation decides to treat African Americans and other minority entertainers fairly.

Jada Wasn’t The Only One

Also, as we previously reported, comedian, Wanda Sykes, took to social media to thank Mo’Nique for speaking out. Sykes then revealed that she, too, declined a $250K Netflix offer, which was chump change in comparison to the likes of Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and Caucasian female comedians, like my Amy Schumer:

Although it’s unclear how much Mo’Nique wants to be paid for her Netflix stand-up special, some have argued that maybe she and Sykes can’t garner enough attention for a payday as large as $20M’s. But one thing is undeniable, they are both legends in the game, who do not deserve to be paid SO much less than what their male and White colleagues walked away with.

At this point, Netflix has not responded to the backlash. But now that the wife of Will Smith -whom Netflix just paid many millions for his new Netflix film, Bright– has spoken out, it may become increasingly difficult for the corporation to remain muted on the matter.

Recap Of Mo’Nique’s Boycott Call Against Netflix For Discrimination

In case you missed our previous report, Mo’Nique held no punches as she exposed the $500K offer and discussion that she and her team had with Netflix to do a comedy stand up special. According to Mo,’ Netflix called and offered her chump change in comparison to her male counterparts and to her Caucasian female colleagues, as well:

Mo’Nique: I’m asking that you stand with me in boycotting Netflix for gender bias and color bias. I was offered a $500,000 deal last week to do a comedy special. However, Amy Schumer was offered $11 Million, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle- $20 million. Then Amy Schumer went back and renegotiated 2 more million dollars, because she said “I shouldn’t get what the men are getting, they’re legends, however I should get more,” and Netflix agreed. When we asked Netflix to explain the difference, ‘Why the money was SO different,’ they said “Well we believe that’s what Mo’Nique would bring.’ We said ‘Well, what about my resume?’ They said “We don’t go off of resumes.” Then we asked them ‘What was it about Amy Schumer?’ And they said “Well, she sold out Madison Square Garden twice and she had a big movie over the summer.” Is that not Amy Schumer’s resume? And then Netflix said, “By the way, we believe Mo’Nique is a legend too.”

Wanda Sykes Thanks Mo’Nique & Reveals ‘Offensive’ Offer Netflix Gave Her Too

Now, Wanda Sykes has just stepped up to stand with Mo’Nique and she thanked her Twitter for having the courage to fight back and speak out first. According to Sykes, she was offered $250K, which is also pennies in comparison. Here’s what Sykes posted:

Should They Be Offended

Both Mo’Nique and Wanda Sykes are highly talented comedians and actresses. They have a huge following and have been laying groundwork in their field for decades. So it’s understandable why they were offended by the pennies (in comparison) that Netflix reportedly tried to toss their way.

Some may look at the ladies and say, ‘Why are they complaining when there are other struggling comedians who’d be happy to make that money?’ Because comedians, like Mo’Nique and Wanda- who are willing to risk certain aspects of their careers to speak up for what they believe is right- help to pave better paths for up and coming comics to walk through.

At this point, Netflix execs have not publicly addressed the ladies’ claims and maybe they never will, unless they catch too much flack after fans hear Mo’Nique’s and Wanda’s accounts of what happened. We’ll keep y’all posted. Until then, will you be boycotting Netflix with Mo’Nique and Wanda, or nah?
