We previously reported that Ron and Kandi did an interview with KTVI, in which Kandi explained why she married Islay. So just in case y’all are starring at their photos wondering how that May/December romance has lasted so long, here’s what Mrs. Isley had to say:

Kandi Johnson Isley- “He’s [Ron Isley] a GENTLEMEN! I mean, you’re talking about romance, he puts the ‘R’ in romance…from fine dining, to treating a woman like a man should, with respect. As we developed a relationship, we had a lot of things in common and Ronald…even though he’s older, he’s young at heart.”

At that time, many fans didn’t believe that Ron Isley’s fame and legacy had nothing to do with Kandi’s attraction toward him and made their views known in the online comments.

Quite frankly, I think the fans’ skepticism is understandable, especially when factoring in their 36 year age difference.

Also, the hypothetical of scenario of Kandi marrying Ron Isley if he was working a 9 to 5 -as maybe a retired bus driver, or UPS employee- raises a few eyebrows. Nevertheless, clearly they’re in love and have made it to the 14-year mark in their marriage, which is damn near unheard of in the entertainment game. So, props to the Mr. and Mrs for that.

On a side note, Kandi Isley’s sister was also married to another music legend…we’ll divulge that info at another time.
