Neo-soul songstress, Jill Scott, and her now ex-husband, Michael Dobson, have been going through a bitter divorce that reached all kinda levels of petty over the past few months. They were married for just a year (2016), before filing for divorce in 2017. Now though, after all of the shade throwing, name calling and insulting allegations, they have FINALLY reached a divorce settlement. It looks like Michael has come out on the better end of things…well, sort of.

Details Of Their Divorce Settlement

According to Bossip, Michael is getting a lil’ somethin’ somethin,’ but not quite what he was probably hoping for:

Via Bossip: Under the [divorce] settlement, [Jill] Scott agreed to pay the $47,815 lien on Dobson’s Mercedes by Aug. 24, leaving her ex-husband free and clear of the car note debt, according to the settlement.

She also agreed to let Dobson come to her house and collect the personal property that he says is still at her house – including a massage table, hotel robes, a bathroom mirror and Prince’s Purple Rain album – as well as let her know who the new owners of the dog that Dobson said Scott gave away are.

But the good news for Scott is that their divorce judge agreed to uphold the terms of their prenup, and neither she nor Dobson will have to pay the other alimony.

Even though Michael didn’t get the alimony he was probably wishing he would, his attorney, James Cobb, stated that “We are very pleased with the resolution and hope the parties can now move on with their lives.”

So all’s well that ends well and now they can live peacefully in their pettily happy divorced bliss.

According to court docs, the “Living My Life Like It’s Golden” songstress is not only sending Michael to fish his own belongings out of storage somewhere – in July – she also refused to give back 5 of the petty items he’s requesting:

TMZ- Jill’s firing back with docs of her own — obtained by TMZ — claiming she tried to deliver Michael all of his things but got no response, so she sent them to a storage facility in Atlanta where he now lives, AND sent him the key.

Jill claims he’s yet to pick up his stuff — including the shoe horn — and refuses to make payments for the storage unit … so she’s still stuck footing the bill. According to the docs though, those 5 hotel robes don’t even belong to Dobson, because Jill says he stole them and SHE had to pay for them.

Whew! Pretty sure they’re glad this is OVER.

What Jill Scott’s Estranged Hubby Wants Back

As Jill and Michael move forward in their bitter divorce, Michael is making sure he gets ALL his stuff back from Jill! Get this- dude even wants his shoehorn and his Prince “Purple Rain” album back, among other petty level items:

This kinda reminds me of the time my girlfriend actually broke up with me in 7th grade. I’ll never forget that fateful day when she said she was movin’ on, LOL. I, on the other hand, decided to dish out my own level of petty, when I then told her I wanted that $3.95 Valentine’s Day card back that I’d bought her a few months prior to her crushin’ my young heart. Thankfully for my sake, I was a kid at that time. But my question is: What’s Michael Dobson’s excuse?!! Just sayin.’

Clearly, the brotha is either scorned, bitter, hurt, outraged, or a combination of all aforementioned emotions, regarding their 15 month marriage.

Jill and Michael jumped the broom in 2016. However, ever since Jill filed those divorce papers 15 months later, they’ve both thrown daggers at each other in the media and the only reason they have now gone radio silent, is because a judge put a gag order on both of them to refrain from public draggin’ of the each other.

This comes just months after Michael’s prior request- to have Jill cover his $6,500 legal bill- was denied by a Tennessee judge. In February 2018, it was reported, by Bossip, that Michael earns a $58K salary, as well as profits from rental properties. However, his attorney pointed out that most of his income goes to “various bills, like debts, rent and child support,” which ultimately leaves him with $100 a month to spare. Dobson’s attorney also told the court that Jill took everything when she left him and that he also signed their pre-nup agreement “under duress,” which is what he was fighting to have reversed.

“So this gentleman has been just left out kind of out to – abandoned, stated Dobson’s lawyer. […] All he is trying to do is say ‘Can we resolve this quickly? Can we resolve it amicably? Can I just have the funds, first of all, to get into a place, and secondly, get a legal team aboard to hammer out all of the nuances here, in regards to the storage facility, the car and the assets that are still in the house?”

However, Jill Scott’s lawyer, Rose Palermo, had a totally different side of the story, stating that Jill didn’t kick Michael out and that she also gave him a monetary parting gift:

“She did not throw him out with nothing,” Palermo reportedly said. “She gave him $20,000 when he left. And during the – during the course of the marriage, she deposited funds into an account for his – for his benefit.”

And the saga continues. Y’all think Jill is gonna give back that “Purple Rain album though?

The Victimized Hubby?:

Last month, ironically around the time of Valentine’s Day, Scott and Dobson faced off in court where Dobson’s attorney argued why the prenup should have been tossed out. Although Dobson does have a $58,000 salary, in addition to income from rental properties, according to Bossip, his attorney, James Cobb, insisted his client’s “various bills, like debts, rent and child support” claimed the vast majority of his income, leaving him with just a meager $100.00 a month. So I guess that’s why he was lookin’ to hit his estranged wife’s pocketbook. Atty. Cobb argued that his client was left abandoned because Scott took everything and also because of the allegedly flawed prenup Dobson claimed he signed under duress.

“So this gentleman has been just left out kind of out to – abandoned,” Dobson’s lawyer James Walker told the court last month, according to court papers obtained by the publication. “All he is trying to do is say ‘Can we resolve this quickly? Can we resolve it amicably? Can I just have the funds, first of all, to get into a place, and secondly, get a legal team aboard to hammer out all of the nuances here, in regards to the storage facility, the car and the assets that are still in the house?”

However, Jill Scott’s lawyer, Rose Palermo, argued otherwise when the two appeared in court last month. In fact, according to the court transcript, Palermo reportedly reminded Dobson of the fact that Scott gave him $20,000 when he moved out, refuting the abandonment claims:

Hol’ Up…Not So Fast:

Despite the tactics used to paint a picture of Mike Dobson as the victim, his legal team’s efforts didn’t help his case. Unfortunately for Mike, the prenup he signed has been upheld by the courts. According to EurWeb, on Monday, March 19, a Tennessee judge ruled in Jill Scott’s favor, denying Dobson’s request for her to pay $6,500 for legal fees.

A Nasty Divorce:

The latest news follows a string of reports about Jill Scott and Mike Dobson’s nasty divorce proceedings. On September 5,2017, Scott filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.” While specific circumstances surrounding the divorce have yet to be revealed, there is speculation that their problems “could be anything from infidelity and verbal or physical abuse to cruel treatment and sexual impropriety” per state laws, according to Madame Noire. After the divorce filing was made public, Dobson quickly defended himself and even went so far as to call his soon-to-be ex-wife “evil.”

“She’s an evil woman. I’m telling you. It’s like what Jill Scott wants, Jill Scott gets,” he said. “People are in her ear, and if someone comes in to challenge the dumb sh-t, they made me be the bad guy and that got me outta there.”

“She’s got issues,” Dobson added. “There’s no men in that family, there’s only women. And when a man comes in, it’s like a challenge. She’s made other men look bad, but I’m not the one. I said (to her) ‘you’ve met your match.’ She likes to have men that she can control. You’re not gonna control me. What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong.” Apparently, the judge agrees, which is why he ruled in Scott’s favor. Best of luck to the former lovebirds, as they go their separate ways.

Why Friend Is Suing Jilly From Philly

Apparently, Jill and her ex-friend, Mister Frisby, go way back like Cracker Jacks. However, they have since become business rivals. Here’s why- as we previously reported, Jill Scott launched her own line of greeting cards with Hallmark Mahogany in early 2017. The cards are geared toward African Americans and are centered around lyrical content from Jill’s music. In an interview with Hallmark.com, Jill said, “I was inspired by highlights within my own life – love, marriage, motherhood – in the writing behind these cards.” But her ex-friend, Frisby, is saying ‘Hell naw Jill…you were “inspired” by MY idea.’ See what he just told the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in his lawsuit filing…

Via CN: It was 10 years ago next month, according to the March 8 complaint, that Mister Frisby first approached Scott about “marketing Scott’s musical lyrics to greeting card companies such as Hallmark and Mahogany.” Frisby…notes that Scott was receptive to the idea and agreed they would split the profits 50-50.

Attributing the delay to Scott’s “whirlwind career in the entertainment business,” the complaint says Frisby dedicated himself to the project for the next several years, selecting appropriate lyrics and prepared sales pitches for potential clients. Just when Frisby was ready to secure an agreement, however, he says Scott put their plan on hold. Frisby says he learned in 2017 that Scott went ahead with the greeting-card endeavor behind his back, securing an agreement with Hallmark and Mahogany agreement to use her words in “cards, gifts, novelties, and related items.”

“Defendant Scott materially breached her oral agreement with Frisby by falsely stating that she was putting this deal ‘on hold,’ when in fact she circumvented [him] and secured a deal and concealed this fact from plaintiff Frisby,” the complaint states. Frisby seeks punitive damages for breach of contract and misrepresentation.

As far as I know, Jill’s Hallmark Mahogany greeting cards have been a success, so depending on how this goes, Frisby just may make a small come up. As we all know though, there are three sides to every story-his side, her side, and the truth- but at this point, Jill’s team has not responded to the claims. In her February (2018) restraining order request, Jill claimed that not only has Michael been draggin’ the hell outta her to her family and friends, he’s also taken numerous jabs at her in the media. She listed the time when Michael did an interview, calling her “an evil woman” and vowing to “fight dirty.” It was also reported that when Jill stepped to him about his constant trash talking, she claims Michael told her it was his revenge plot to get back at her for deciding to end their short marriage. That ain’t all though, as we previously reported, Michael supposedly stated that he’s demanding $500K dollars from Jill. According to Jill’s legal filing, her estranged hubby is trying to defame her just to get a piece of her paper, which was listed in the form of $2 million business accounts and other assets.

Apparently, the “Crown Royal” singer was given a drink and she admitted that the night started off great, but then things took a disturbing turn when she got to the second round of drinks. “It started off so good. And then, Fuffie gave me some more to drink and I drank it.” She continued, “Uhhhhh, Saturday night (laughs).”

After the video began circulating, it began to raise concerns and now fans are wondering if Jill Scott is okay and many are asking the same question: who leaked the video. There’s lots of speculation that a close friend of Scott’s may be responsible for the leaked video. However, it appears she filmed it herself with her cell phone. According to EURWeb, Scott also took to social media on Sunday and it looks like she’s responded to all of the speculation. She posted a photo of herself and captioned it, “The morning after. In fact, the two are even scheduled to have a relatively uneventful Valentine’s Day since they’ll be spending their time in court. But apparently, there’s an issue Dobson felt the need to address prior to their court appearance. According to Bossip, Dobson recently filed a motion to request a restraining order against his soon-to-be ex-wife. The 49-year-old reportedly feels the singer has been taking subliminal jabs at him on social media although they are not supposed to be speaking publicly about the pending divorce.

Social Media Drama?:

On multiple occasions, Jill Scott has shared posts on social media that have Dobson wondering if she’s really talkin’ to him. He claims the “Golden” singer has slammed him and members of his family. He has also accused Scott of calling him a con artist and making statements about his sexual orientation. “Sometimes the juice ain’t worth the squeeze,” Scott posted, according to Dobson’s court docs. On Sept 27, she is said to have posted a meme that read, “Yoooo somebody may say you just gave up. Maybe you just…woke up.”

Although Dobson can’t speak publicly, insiders claim he’s determined not to let Scott get the best of him. “He’s not going to let Scott disgrace him,” said an insider. “Michael still loves Jill. He has always felt like she’s his ‘ride or die’ throughout their relationship.”

Pay Up Or Shut Up:

The latest reports about Dobson’s restraining order follow details about his financial demands. For those who missed it, reports have revealed Dobson is demanding a whopping $500,000 from his wife. He is also asking to have their prenuptial agreement tossed out because he’d been pressured to sign the agreement. Dobson claims Scott’s attorney pressured him to sign the documents three weeks prior to their wedding. He even admitted that he didn’t have an attorney review the documents. While there are always two sides to a story and there may be some truth to Dobson’s claims, it is unclear whether or not a judge will rule in his favor.
