By now, most fans of the Jackson fam’ have heard all about Joe Jackson’s secret daughter, Joh’Vonnie Jackson. Since she didn’t grow up with her half-siblings, she’s never really had the opportunity to speak publicly about her life as a Jackson – until recent years. In recent years, Joh’Vonnie appeared on “The Talk” daytime talk show, where she had the opportunity to promote her then new book, “Bastard Child.” You can probably guess what the book is about, but it also includes a few details about her few interactions with her half-siblings. She openly discussed one incident with Janet Jackson that didn’t go very well.

During the “The Talk” discussion, Joh’Vonnie, now 46, recalled the first time she met Janet Jackson. Although Joh’Vonnie is biologically related to the famed singer, that didn’t mean she wasn’t a starstruck fan like everyone else. So, of course, she was ecstatic about meeting her sister, but unfortunately, the first meeting went all the way left. But, why did things go awry so quickly? Well, Joh’Vonnie has revealed one word she said made things completely awkward. She referred to Joe Jackson as “daddy.” For those who don’t know, Janet and her siblings were never allowed to call their father “Daddy.” All of the Jackson children referred to their father simply as “Joseph.”

Joh’Vonnie said, we met up at Rebbie’s house and we were having a pretty good conversation until I said, ‘Daddy’ and she got upset. But the reason she got upset is because he did not allow them to call him Daddy.”

A 25-Year Affair:

For the Jackson children, learning about Joh’Vonnie definitely wasn’t easy. Then to make matters worse, it was revealed that Joh’Vonnie’s mother, Cheryle, wasn’t exactly a one-night-stand for Joe. The two reportedly had a 25-year affair and Joe wasn’t exactly an absentee father. Based on Joh’Vonnie’s claims, it appears Joe lived a double life because she has a completely different view of Joe, filled with fond memories and family vacations. With she and her mother, he wasn’t the so-called ‘slave-driving perfectionist’ he was often depicted as with his other children.

“He would come round most days sometimes without warning, he was very much a presence in my life, I was a daddy’s girl, sai Joh’Vonnie. “I would be so excited, he would bring me presents, my favorite black walnut ice cream. I was spoiled rotten.”

For Joh’Vonnie, family life was great until she learned the truth about her father. At age 11, she learned that he was a married man. She revealed she met Katherine Jackson during a chance encounter at a nail salon. She admitted it was all so confusing:

“We walk in [the salon] and there’s Katherine Jackson sitting right there. I got so upset, so nervous – I was confused. And she said, ‘She looks just like him’ – she said that to my best friend. So, I left out and shouted, ‘I’m gonna call my daddy.’

She continued:

The reason I was so upset was because we couldn’t even shop at the corner grocery store. We had to go to a different grocery store. And now she’s in the neighborhood getting her nails done, I’m thinking I might possibly get in trouble. It was such a confusing time.”

Moved On:

Despite the past-estrangement, Joh’Vonnie has admitted that things eventually changed for the better over the years. During previous interviews, she admitted Katherine Jackson once referred to her as the “bastard child,” but she’s admitted the Jackson family matriarch’s pain was understandable:

“I think she was very hurt at the time of the affair. That’s totally understandable. No woman likes for her husband to go cheating on her and produce a child. It was probably heart-breaking,” Joh’Vonnie said. “But she had come out of that, she let me live in her home, me and my daughter, and I took care of her home when she was not there. We’ve cooked together and have had good conversations.”

It’s unclear of 90 years young Katherine Jackson still has any type of relationship with Joh’Vonnie, but it’s good to see the Jackson matriarch still going strong to this day.

As you know, Joe Jackson passed away in June 2018 at age 89 –just one month prior to his 90th birthday– but his legacy will live on forever.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Joh’Vonnie discussed her memoir, ‘The Bastard Child,” revealing that she has tons of pleasant memories growing up with her pops, Joe, being very present in her life. She says Joe was at their house nearly daily — when he wasn’t working on the road — playing with her, buying her many gifts, having dinner with she and her mom, and disciplining her when need-be.

Though Katherine Jackson reportedly knew all about Joe’s second family,  Joh’Vonnie says Joe kept her away from her famous siblings, obviously to avoid causing a rift within the Jackson fam.’ But then came that fateful day she got to meet her big bro,’ Michael Jackson…when she was 29 years old in 2003.

Secret Sister’s First Meeting With Michael Was “Hurtful”

Joh’Vonnie met Michael at his Neverland Ranch for a big family reunion. She was hella excited, but that excitement soon turned to heartache. According to Joh’Vonnie, Michael was extremely cold with her…but not with his niece [her then eight-year-old daughter]:

“It was a big moment for me,” Joh’Vonnie recalls, her eyes narrowing. But Michael was looking at me and seemed cold and standoffish, he just said hi and then he saw my daughter Yasmine, and he was just fascinated with her, in awe.

He said ‘Hi Jasmine’ and I said, ‘No, Michael, her name is Yasmine with a Y,’ I had to correct him. He said ‘okay, Yasmine with a Y,’ and then that was it. He never acknowledged that I was his sister, there was no hug or kiss, not even a hand shake, no physical contact at all.

I wanted to embrace him, I thought that he would wanna go some place quiet and sit and talk with me and ask me about my life and get to know me a little better. It was very hurtful, he wasn’t interested at all.”

She Became “Jealous” Of Michael’s Warmth Toward Her Daughter

Joh’Vonnie confessed that Michael’s pleasant interactions with her daughter, Yasmine, made her jealous:

“With my daughter he was totally different, she got hugs and kisses, everything I didn’t get, I’m woman enough to admit I was jealous.

We met outside by the movie theater, there was a bunch of people there. I never did get a chance to speak to Michael properly. At the time it was very hurtful, again there was this theme that I felt shut out.”

The Next Day, Michael ‘Ignored’ His Sister

Joh’Vonnie says she wasn’t invited to stay the night at MJ’s Neverland Ranch, so she stayed with her cousin at a hotel. But she went back to Neverland the next day, hoping to have a better connection with her big bro’, here’s what she says happened next:

“I didn’t see Michael all day, he was in the main house,” she said.

“Yasmine and Paris [Michael’s daughter] were off playing for hours, she was playing with her little cousin, Paris is such a sweet girl. I was sat with the rest of the family.”

Joh’Vonnie says Michael never made any effort to talk to her, nor her daughter on the second day, and eventually left the premises without even saying goodbye to them.

“I had rowed with Joseph and was asking him why was daddy so mean, he told me not to let Joseph upset me and I said, ‘Okay, but Michael don’t forget about me, call me.’

I thought he was being nice, but I never heard from him after that until we met at Neverland.”

Sister’s Biggest Regret About MJ

Joh’Vonnie says she hates the fact that she was not able to bond with MJ before his passing, because she believes she could have possibly saved him from overdosing:

“I mourn a relationship that never began, that’s what I’m sad about,” she says. “Because there’s a great possibly that I could have made a difference, I’m out spoken, @no you’re not doing this today Michael’. I could have made a difference and stopped some of the things he was doing to himself. It’s sad and I’m not going to continue to beat myself up about it because that wasn’t my doing, these are decisions that he made.”

So…this fiasco all went down in 2018, and it’s still quite interesting nonetheless. Why? Because seemingly to this very day, things are not all peachy between Joe Jackson’s secret daughter Joh’Vonnie Jackson (46) and her iconic siblings…especially La Toya Jackson (65).

Back in May 2018, only a few days had past when at that time Joh’Vonnie had publicly sent prayers up, after publicly revealing that La Toya had reportedly suffered a stroke. The only other Jackson who’d confirmed that info, was La Toya’s niece (Joh’Vonnie’s daughter), Yasmine Jackson. Although La Toya hadn’t confirmed that she’d suffered a stroke, she has yet to deny it as well.

Fast forward to a few days afterwards – as the famous Jackson sibling was allegedly recovering, her out-of-wedlock sister, Joh’Vonnie, gave an update on La Toya’s health status, while simultaneously throwing a lil’ shade her way.

Following La Toya’s supposed stroke, Joh’Vonnie took to Instagram Live to left folks know that La Toya was recovering, while also politely informing her followers that the elder Jackson sibling is a horrible sister to her:

Joh’Vonnie Jackson – “You know, I just wanted to take a moment and talk about my sister La Toya. … It’s very unfortunate, she’s 62 years old and she had a minor stroke. And I personally want her to know, that even though that you have been the worst sister …to me, I want you to know that I still love you…”

Two days after the ‘stroke’ revelation, La Toya had received a great outpouring of well wishes from fans online. In return, La Toya posted a ‘thank you’ message…without denying that she’d had a stroke, which led everyone to assume it was true:

“I wish to thank every last one of you for your THOUGHTFULNESS , your CARING and the LOVE you have expressed. IT IS EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!! I am well and I thank you so much for your prayers. 🙏 I LOVE YOU ALL! Have a beautiful weekend!😘”

BUT lo and behold, 10 hours later La Toya, posted a new Twitter message to prove that her sister’s stroke report was not even an alternative fact…but that it was not a fact at all:

“Again thank you for your prayers and thoughtfulness, but guys, to make it clear I DID NOT HAVE A STROKE!!!!”

Although Joh’Vonnie didn’t go into detail about why she labeled La Toya “the worst” sister, I’m willing to bet it probably has something to do with their past rocky history; and also Joh’Vonnie’s willingness to let the world know about La Toya’s health condition at that time. Typically, Prince is the more laid-back Jackson kid, who very rarely allows the countless backlash, lies, rumors, etc. bother him. Michael “Prince” Jackson may be the son of a ‘king,’ but he’s known for being a very humble, down to earth dude, who never boasts about his iconic family, and prefers living as ‘normal’ of a life as possible. But even the most humble brotha can step outside of character to put haters in check when need-be. By now, most fans of the Jackson family have heard all about Joe Jackson’s secret daughter, Joh’Vonnie Jackson. Since she didn’t grow up with her half-siblings, she’s never really had the opportunity to speak publicly about her life as a Jackson – until recent years. In recent years, Joh’Vonnie appeared on “The Talk” daytime talk show, where she had the opportunity to promote her then new book, “Bastard Child.” You can probably guess what the book is about, but it also includes a few details about her few interactions with her half-siblings. She openly discussed one incident with Janet Jackson that didn’t go very well.

The Talk:

During the “The Talk” discussion, Joh’Vonnie, now 46, recalled the first time she met Janet Jackson. Although Joh’Vonnie is biologically related to the famed singer, that didn’t mean she wasn’t a starstruck fan like everyone else. So, of course, she was ecstatic about meeting her sister, but unfortunately, the first meeting went all the way left. But, why did things go awry so quickly? Well, Joh’Vonnie has revealed one word she said made things completely awkward. She referred to Joe Jackson as “daddy.” For those who don’t know, Janet and her siblings were never allowed to call their father “Daddy.” All of the Jackson children referred to their father simply as “Joseph.”

Joh’Vonnie said, we met up at Rebbie’s house and we were having a pretty good conversation until I said, ‘Daddy’ and she got upset. But the reason she got upset is because he did not allow them to call him Daddy.”

A 25-Year Affair:

For the Jackson children, learning about Joh’Vonnie definitely wasn’t easy. Then to make matters worse, it was revealed that Joh’Vonnie’s mother, Cheryle, wasn’t exactly a one-night-stand for Joe. The two reportedly had a 25-year affair and Joe wasn’t exactly an absentee father. Based on Joh’Vonnie’s claims, it appears Joe lived a double life because she has a completely different view of Joe, filled with fond memories and family vacations. With she and her mother, he wasn’t the so-called ‘slave-driving perfectionist’ he was often depicted as with his other children.

“He would come round most days sometimes without warning, he was very much a presence in my life, I was a daddy’s girl, sai Joh’Vonnie. “I would be so excited, he would bring me presents, my favorite black walnut ice cream. I was spoiled rotten.”

For Joh’Vonnie, family life was great until she learned the truth about her father. At age 11, she learned that he was a married man. She revealed she met Katherine Jackson during a chance encounter at a nail salon. She admitted it was all so confusing:

“We walk in [the salon] and there’s Katherine Jackson sitting right there. I got so upset, so nervous – I was confused. And she said, ‘She looks just like him’ – she said that to my best friend. So, I left out and shouted, ‘I’m gonna call my daddy.’

She continued:

The reason I was so upset was because we couldn’t even shop at the corner grocery store. We had to go to a different grocery store. And now she’s in the neighborhood getting her nails done, I’m thinking I might possibly get in trouble. It was such a confusing time.”

Moved On:

Despite the past-estrangement, Joh’Vonnie has admitted that things eventually changed for the better over the years. During previous interviews, she admitted Katherine Jackson once referred to her as the “bastard child,” but she’s admitted the Jackson family matriarch’s pain was understandable:

Watch Janet’s Emotional Tribute

Janet headlined the 2018 Essence Festival in New Orleans, LA and paused her show to pay a beautiful tribute to her father, in a way she’s never done before. She spoke of Joe’s strength as a Black man, raising 9 Black children and taking them from a poor Black neighborhood in Gary, Indiana to the heights of success that was far beyond what most could possibly dream. Janet also choked up at the reality of him transitioning on. Admitting it was a very difficult decision for her to continue her tour, following Joe’s passing, she relied on the strength Joe would have encouraged her to have, thus landing her in N.O. at the Essence Fest and here’s what she had to say:

“It was really hard for me…I didn’t know how to move forward, if I should cancel this festival or the entire tour,” she told the Essence audience. “I talked to my brother, and we started to talk about my father’s strength…If it wasn’t for his drive and strength, we wouldn’t have the success. We are a black family that came from Gary, Indiana and we broke all kinds of records around the globe.”

It’s unclear which brother she’s referring to, but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s probably the one she’s closest to, Randy Jackson, who’s always by her side. Janet continued:

“My father was a great man…and my brother, he asked me, ‘If he [Joe] were here right now listening to this conversation, what do you think he would say to you?’ And I think my father would have said, ‘Janet, please, finish what you’ve started, and I will be with you every step of the way in your heart.’ So here I am,” Janet concluded.

The crowd gave Janet thunderous applause for her strength and her dedication not only to her dad’s legacy, but to her many fans, who she’s painstakingly showing up for, in spite of her extreme grief.

This is yet another example that proves that the countless Joe Jackson haters, who have been giving him backlash in the wake of his passing, do not have a clue of what the hell they’re talking about. As we previously reported, Joe’s received tons of props for being a great father to his children. However, he’s also received backlash for whipping his kids when they did wrong and being a stern father who forced them to rehearse for hours as kids. All of his children have said Joe was stern, but that they’re eternally grateful for him being so tough on him back then.
