By now, most fans of the Jackson fam’ have heard all about Joe Jackson’s secret daughter, Joh’Vonnie Jackson. Since she didn’t grow up with her half-siblings, she’s never really had the opportunity to speak publicly about her life as a Jackson – until recent years. Although Joh’Vonnie is biologically related to the famed singer, that didn’t mean she wasn’t a starstruck fan like everyone else. So, of course, she was ecstatic about meeting her sister, but unfortunately, the first meeting went all the way left. But, why did things go awry so quickly? Well, Joh’Vonnie has revealed one word she said made things completely awkward. She referred to Joe Jackson as “daddy.” For those who don’t know, Janet and her siblings were never allowed to call their father “Daddy.” All of the Jackson children referred to their father simply as “Joseph.”

Joh’Vonnie said, we met up at Rebbie’s house and we were having a pretty good conversation until I said, ‘Daddy’ and she got upset. But the reason she got upset is because he did not allow them to call him Daddy.”

A 25-Year Affair:

For the Jackson children, learning about Joh’Vonnie definitely wasn’t easy. Then to make matters worse, it was revealed that Joh’Vonnie’s mother, Cheryle, wasn’t exactly a one-night-stand for Joe. The two reportedly had a 25-year affair and Joe wasn’t exactly an absentee father. Based on Joh’Vonnie’s claims, it appears Joe lived a double life because she has a completely different view of Joe, filled with fond memories and family vacations. With she and her mother, he wasn’t the so-called ‘slave-driving perfectionist’ he was often depicted as with his other children.

“He would come round most days sometimes without warning, he was very much a presence in my life, I was a daddy’s girl, sai Joh’Vonnie. “I would be so excited, he would bring me presents, my favorite black walnut ice cream. I was spoiled rotten.”

For Joh’Vonnie, family life was great until she learned the truth about her father. At age 11, she learned that he was a married man. She revealed she met Katherine Jackson during a chance encounter at a nail salon. She admitted it was all so confusing:

“We walk in [the salon] and there’s Katherine Jackson sitting right there. I got so upset, so nervous – I was confused. And she said, ‘She looks just like him’ – she said that to my best friend. So, I left out and shouted, ‘I’m gonna call my daddy.’

She continued:

The reason I was so upset was because we couldn’t even shop at the corner grocery store. We had to go to a different grocery store. And now she’s in the neighborhood getting her nails done, I’m thinking I might possibly get in trouble. It was such a confusing time.”

Despite the past-estrangement, Joh’Vonnie has admitted that things eventually changed for the better over the years. During previous interviews, she admitted Katherine Jackson once referred to her as the “bastard child,” but she’s admitted the Jackson family matriarch’s pain was understandable:

“I think she was very hurt at the time of the affair. That’s totally understandable. No woman likes for her husband to go cheating on her and produce a child. It was probably heart-breaking,” Joh’Vonnie said. “But she had come out of that, she let me live in her home, me and my daughter, and I took care of her home when she was not there. It’s unclear of 90 years young Katherine Jackson still has any type of relationship with Joh’Vonnie, but it’s good to see the Jackson matriarch still going strong to this day.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Joh’Vonnie discussed her memoir, ‘The Bastard Child,” revealing that she has tons of pleasant memories growing up with her pops, Joe, being very present in her life. She says Joe was at their house nearly daily — when he wasn’t working on the road — playing with her, buying her many gifts, having dinner with she and her mom, and disciplining her when need-be.

Though Katherine Jackson reportedly knew all about Joe’s second family,  Joh’Vonnie says Joe kept her away from her famous siblings, obviously to avoid causing a rift within the Jackson fam.’ But then came that fateful day she got to meet her big bro,’ Michael Jackson…when she was 29 years old in 2003.

Secret Sister’s First Meeting With Michael Was “Hurtful”

Joh’Vonnie met Michael at his Neverland Ranch for a big family reunion. She was hella excited, but that excitement soon turned to heartache. According to Joh’Vonnie, Michael was extremely cold with her…but not with his niece [her then eight-year-old daughter]:

“It was a big moment for me,” Joh’Vonnie recalls, her eyes narrowing. But Michael was looking at me and seemed cold and standoffish, he just said hi and then he saw my daughter Yasmine, and he was just fascinated with her, in awe.

He said ‘Hi Jasmine’ and I said, ‘No, Michael, her name is Yasmine with a Y,’ I had to correct him. He said ‘okay, Yasmine with a Y,’ and then that was it. He never acknowledged that I was his sister, there was no hug or kiss, not even a hand shake, no physical contact at all.

I wanted to embrace him, I thought that he would wanna go some place quiet and sit and talk with me and ask me about my life and get to know me a little better. It was very hurtful, he wasn’t interested at all.”

She Became “Jealous” Of Michael’s Warmth Toward Her Daughter

Joh’Vonnie confessed that Michael’s pleasant interactions with her daughter, Yasmine, made her jealous:

“With my daughter he was totally different, she got hugs and kisses, everything I didn’t get, I’m woman enough to admit I was jealous.

We met outside by the movie theater, there was a bunch of people there. I never did get a chance to speak to Michael properly. At the time it was very hurtful, again there was this theme that I felt shut out.”

The Next Day, Michael ‘Ignored’ His Sister

Joh’Vonnie says she wasn’t invited to stay the night at MJ’s Neverland Ranch, so she stayed with her cousin at a hotel. But she went back to Neverland the next day, hoping to have a better connection with her big bro’, here’s what she says happened next:

“I didn’t see Michael all day, he was in the main house,” she said.

“Yasmine and Paris [Michael’s daughter] were off playing for hours, she was playing with her little cousin, Paris is such a sweet girl. I was sat with the rest of the family.”

Joh’Vonnie says Michael never made any effort to talk to her, nor her daughter on the second day, and eventually left the premises without even saying goodbye to them.

However, Joh’Vonnie says at that time, she did manage to have a brief phone conversation with Michael in 1999, when he called Joe’s home. Joh’Vonnie eagerly asked if she could speak with MJ before he hung up:

“I had rowed with Joseph and was asking him why was daddy so mean, he told me not to let Joseph upset me and I said, ‘Okay, but Michael don’t forget about me, call me.’

Sister’s Biggest Regret About MJ

Joh’Vonnie says she hates the fact that she was not able to bond with MJ before his passing, because she believes she could have possibly saved him from overdosing:

“I mourn a relationship that never began, that’s what I’m sad about,” she says. “Because there’s a great possibly that I could have made a difference, I’m out spoken, @no you’re not doing this today Michael’. I could have made a difference and stopped some of the things he was doing to himself. It’s sad and I’m not going to continue to beat myself up about it because that wasn’t my doing, these are decisions that he made.”

So…this fiasco all went down in 2018, and it’s still quite interesting nonetheless. Why? Because seemingly to this very day, things are not all peachy between Joe Jackson’s secret daughter Joh’Vonnie Jackson (46) and her iconic siblings…especially La Toya Jackson (65).

Back in May 2018, only a few days had past when at that time Joh’Vonnie had publicly sent prayers up, after publicly revealing that La Toya had reportedly suffered a stroke. The only other Jackson who’d confirmed that info, was La Toya’s niece (Joh’Vonnie’s daughter), Yasmine Jackson. Although La Toya hadn’t confirmed that she’d suffered a stroke, she has yet to deny it as well.

Fast forward to a few days afterwards – as the famous Jackson sibling was allegedly recovering, her out-of-wedlock sister, Joh’Vonnie, gave an update on La Toya’s health status, while simultaneously throwing a lil’ shade her way.

Following La Toya’s supposed stroke, Joh’Vonnie took to Instagram Live to left folks know that La Toya was recovering, while also politely informing her followers that the elder Jackson sibling is a horrible sister to her:

Two days after the ‘stroke’ revelation, La Toya had received a great outpouring of well wishes from fans online. In return, La Toya posted a ‘thank you’ message…without denying that she’d had a stroke, which led everyone to assume it was true:

BUT lo and behold, 10 hours later La Toya, posted a new Twitter message to prove that her sister’s stroke report was not even an alternative fact…but that it was not a fact at all:

“Again thank you for your prayers and thoughtfulness, but guys, to make it clear I DID NOT HAVE A STROKE!!!!”

Although Joh’Vonnie didn’t go into detail about why she labeled La Toya “the worst” sister, I’m willing to bet it probably has something to do with their past rocky history; and also Joh’Vonnie’s willingness to let the world know about La Toya’s health condition at that time. La Toya’s Reported Health Crisis

Via Bossip: La Toya Jackson, the second eldest sister in the beloved Jackson family is going to need our prayers and good energy. Reportedly she’s suffered a stroke. Family members, half-sister Joh’Vonnie Jackson and her daughter, Yasmine shared the news on their Instagram stories.“Pray for my Aunt @LaToyaJacksonoffical, she had a stroke,” Yasmine wrote, while her mother said, “Praying for my sisters speedy recovery”.

Although we may joke about La Toya and how suspect her and psychic, Tyler Henry’s recent claims may seem (they recently claimed they had a convo’ with Michael Jackson’s spirit), we never wanna see her go through a health crisis. Joh’Vonnie Jackson (43) and her daddy, Joe Jackson (90), kept herself and his mistress, Cheryle Terrell  (Joh’Vonnie’s late mother), hidden from the Jackson family and the public for most of their 25 year affair.

Joh’Vonnie was born in 1974 and surprisingly, Joe managed to successfully keep her a secret, while simultaneously being very involved in her life since birth. During a recent interview of about her tell-all memoir, “Bastard Child,” Joh’Vonnie dropped a bunch of gems about what it was like growing up as the hidden child of Joe Jackson’s mistress.

One thing we found interesting, were the exhausting lengths Joe took back in the day, to hide Joh’Vonnie and her beloved mother, who lived just 5 miles away from the Jackson’s Encino, Ca. family home. Based on what she revealed, Joe was pulling off some covert, Navy Seals Type missions just to take them to grocery stores and such:

Via Daily Mail: “My life was hush-hush, there was grocery stores we couldn’t shop at, there were places we couldn’t go in our own neighborhood,” recalls Joh’Vonnie. “If we went to watch a movie we would have to go miles out, my dad loves to watch movies, it was a real inconvenience when there was a movie theater right down the street. Joe was scared of a reporter seeing us, somebody taking pictures and putting it in a news article and then have to go home to discuss this with an angry wife.”

“Every time I went somewhere he would drum it into me that I shouldn’t talk about our family’s business,” said Joh’Vonnie. “I wasn’t allowed to have anyone over to the house, I complained and stomped my feet and told him, ‘Daddy I don’t have any friends.’ So he took me to a dog kennel and we bought two German Shepherd puppies called Lady and Big Foot. He said ‘There you go, there’s your friends, play with them.'”

Today, Joh’Vohnnie and Joe Jackson still have a father daughter relationship and she’s also met her other Jackson siblings.

During the discussion, Joh’Vonnie, now 43, recalled the first time she met Janet Jackson. Although Joh’Vonnie is biologically related to the famed singer, that didn’t mean she wasn’t a starstruck fan like everyone else. So, of course, she was ecstatic about meeting her sister, but unfortunately, the first meeting went all the way left. But, why did things go awry so quickly? Well, Joh’Vonnie has revealed one word she said made things completely awkward. She referred to Joe Jackson as “daddy.” For those who don’t know, Janet and her siblings were never allowed to call their father “Daddy.” All of the Jackson children referred to their father simply as “Joseph.”

Joh’Vonnie said, we met up at Rebbie’s house and we were having a pretty good conversation until I said, ‘Daddy’ and she got upset. But the reason she got upset is because he did not allow them to call him Daddy.”

A 25-Year Affair:

For the Jackson children, learning about Joh’Vonnie definitely wasn’t easy. Then to make matters worse, it was revealed that Joh’Vonnie’s mother, Cheryle, wasn’t exactly a one-night-stand for Joe. The two reportedly had a 25-year affair and Joe wasn’t exactly an absentee father. Based on Joh’Vonnie’s claims, it appears Joe lived a double life because she has a completely different view of Joe filled with fond memories and family vacations. With her and her mother, he wasn’t the slave-driving perfectionist he was often been depicted as with his other children.

“He would come round most days sometimes without warning, he was very much a presence in my life, I was a daddy’s girl. I would be so excited, he would bring me presents, my favorite black walnut ice cream. I was spoiled rotten.”

For Joh’Vonnie, family life was great until she learned the truth about her father. At age 11, she learned that he was a married man. She revealed she met Katherine Jackson during a chance encounter at a nail salon. She admitted it was all so confusing. “We walk in [the salon] and there’s Katherine Jackson sitting right there. I got so upset, so nervous – I was confused. And she said, ‘She looks just like him’ – she said that to my best friend. So, I left out and shouted, ‘I’m gonna call my daddy.’

She continued, “The reason I was so upset was because we couldn’t even shop at the corner grocery store. We had to go to a different grocery store. And now she’s in the neighborhood getting her nails done, I’m thinking I might possibly get in trouble. It was such a confusing time.”

Moving On:

Despite the past-estrangement, Joh’Vonnie has admitted that things have changed for the better over the years. During previous interviews, she admitted Katherine Jackson once referred to her as the “bastard child,” but she’s admitted the Jackson family matriarch’s pain was understandable. “I think she was very hurt at the time of the affair. That’s totally understandable. No woman likes for her husband to go cheating on her and produce a child. It was probably heart-breaking,” Joh’Vonnie said. “But she had come out of that, she let me live in her home, me and my daughter, and I took care of her home when she was not there. We’ve cooked together and have had good conversations.”

Joe Visited His 2nd Family Most Days Of The Week

Despite the trouble they’d have to go through just shop for groceries, Joh’Vonnie has very happy childhood memories of her dad. She said Joe would usually spend time with her and her mom most days throughout the week.

“Daddy would come zooming through the gates in his two-seater Mercedes or Rolls Royce,” recalls Joh’Vonnie, 43. He’d be hungry and his dinner would be cooked. My mother was an excellent cook. He would come round most days sometimes without warning, he was very much a presence in my life, I was a daddy’s girl.”

Joh’Vonnie fondly remembers watching 80s TV show Kung Fu Theater and professional wrestling with her dad while sat on the sofa eating popcorn together.

Joe Jackson was so settled into his double life, that Joh’Vonnie says he even had a garden in their backyard, that he tended to every Sunday:

“We had over an acre and we would tend the garden together,” she recalls. “Daddy loved to cook the vegetables he had grown, he’d bring them right in the house real fresh, green beans everything. Daddy and I did a lot together. Every Sunday we were at the lake fishing on daddy’s boat. I would sit in the sun while he fished, it was wonderful.”

He Lavished Secret Daughter With Gifts

In addition to spending quality time with his second fam,’ Joh’Vonnie also said Joe would shower her with gifts most of the time and she loved it:

“I would be so excited, he would bring me presents, my favorite black walnut ice cream. I was spoiled rotten,” she said. “He was very loving and nicknamed me ‘Jobie’ and often called me sweet-potato or Sally-Mae.”

Joh’Vonnie said her father would bring her a different doll back from every one of his globe-trotting trips.

They Vacationed & Spent Holidays Together

Joe Jackson seemed to have it all perfectly planned out, because surprisingly, he was even able to get away with taking his second family on Christmas trips to Florida, without Katherine Jackson ever finding out:

“We went to Orlando most years, we’d go to Disney, exchange gifts and had a great time,” said Joh’Vonnie….”Katherine doesn’t celebrate Christmas because she’s a Jehovah’s Witness, that made it real easy for him.’

Joh’Vonnie then recalled how Joe surprised her for one Christmas, when she was sick and he tried to cheer her up:

“Daddy got me out of bed, marched me around the house like in the Nutcracker, then we went back to my room and there was a tree he had decorated in my closet. He can do a lot of nice things, he was a good father.”

By the time Joh’Vonnie reached her 20’s, Joe Jackson moved out of the Jackson family home and she went to live with him in his Las Vegas, NV crib. Joh’Vonnie and her 23 year old daughter, Yasmine, now live just a few miles away from Joe in Vegas and sees him at least once a week. Even though she’s had a great relationship with her Pops, Joe Jackson, Joh’Vonnie also said that she thinks what her father and mother did, by have=ing an affair, was wrong.

What Katherine Jackson Did For Joe’s Love Child After Her Mom Passed

As we previously reported, Joe Jackson finally took Joh’Vonnie to meet her famous siblings and his wife at their Encino, CA home years ago. She says her brother Michael Jackson, barely spoke to her, and the rest were somewhat cordial, with the exception of Rebbie, whom she still has a relationship with today.

Even though Katherine Jackson once called her the ‘bastard child,’ throughout the years, she became very kind to Joh’Vonnie. In fact, Joh’Vonnie said that when her mother passed away a couple years ago, it was Katherine- not her siblings- who called to check on her to see how she was doing.

Wow! So, Mama Katherine found a way to move past the pain of her husband having a love child, to ultimately having great concern for the child’s well being, following the death of her husband’s mistress. Talk about a TRUE class act indeed. And much respect to Joh’Vonnie for sharing her story with the world.
