To fans, Robin Givens is a successful, talented actress who has been in the game for many, many years. but, when the cameras are off, Robin has a different focus – family. For those who don’t know, Robin comes from a close-knit family and she shared an amazing relationship with her younger sister, Stephanie Givens.

According to the Daily Mail, Robin revealed her sister has always been her best friend. However, their lives took an unexpected turn for Christmas of 2014.

“I remember the last Christmas we spent together. She came out to Los Angeles and we went to the Ritz-Carlton. It was beautiful here and we had champagne outside and then went to a Korean spa. It was so much fun.”

Stephanie became ill and was told she had “some kind of virus,” but just one week later she received devastating news because she was suffering from much more than a virus.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer on a Friday afternoon. By Sunday, the aggressive cancer had taken over, and Stephanie died due to complications of the deadly disease. Needless to say, Robin and her family were devastated:

“She went back the following week and was put into the hospital on Thursday, diagnosed on Friday and died on Sunday,” Givens recalled. “It all happened so quickly that it’s hard for me to even know what happened.”

“Friday afternoon, she was diagnosed with [breast] cancer, and she was then gone on Sunday,” Robin revealed on the CBS’ The Doctors. Robin also shared her reaction to her sister’s untimely death during an interview with People magazine. “My sister was my very best friend in the world,” Robin, 51, told PEOPLE. “Her passing was a shock. I had someone describe it to me like losing somebody in a car accident. I was so devastated.”

Robin also spoke about her sister in a previous airing of Hollywood Today, with Theresa Caputo. The famed psychic brought the actress to tears with a heartfelt message about the grieving process. Robin admitted she’s actually felt her sister’s presence and Caputo claims it was her sister’s way of letting her know she’s okay.

In addition to her sister’s untimely death, the horrific loss was also disturbing because Stephanie took health and fitness very seriously. She worked out regularly and made it a point to eat right. The aggressive cancer just proves that anyone could be faced with such medical complications.

So, Robin has been making personal efforts to prevent the possibility of misdiagnosis of breast cancer. She makes sure she has regular mammograms.

Although life will never be the same, Robin says she’s managed to cope with the devastating loss by being strong for her mother and sons. “It was the first I understood when people say you have to be strong for someone else.”

According to Rory, it wasn’t pretty and was about to be a flat out ‘rumble in the jungle’…

It’s no secret that Mike Tyson had a rough time when he was a boxing champ. The former champ was once married to Robin Givens and they had a rocky relationship. When they divorced in 1989, Tyson was beside himself with grief and he struggled to deal with their separation.

Rory Holloway and Mike developed a relationship while Tyson was learning his craft under Cus D’Amato as a young teenager and Rory  says he was by his side until they fell out in the late 1990s. In his book, he detailed the night he joined Tyson, Michael Jordan, Chicago Bears coach, Mike Ditka, star defensive end, Richard Dent, and boxing promoter, Don King, for dinner at a Chicago restaurant. Holloway wrote that he was trying to help Tyson deal with his separation from Givens because Tyson loved her wasn’t dealing with the divorce well at all.

Worried that things may get problematic, Holloway says he asked the waiter to limit Tyson’s alcohol intake because it was public knowledge that Jordan apparently once dated Givens and Givens was Tyson’s weakness at that time. Holloway: Jordan, it’s obvious he just wants to get up and run. He wants no part of this. Mike turns to Ditka. ‘Man, you think somebody scared of you, all that racist s–t you been talking?’ He says to Dent, ‘Y’all scared of this damn white man, Richard? He ain’t nobody. You gonna let him talk that way?’

Holloway said that at that time, Tyson’s temper was explosive and he’d had become a bit of a chaperone for Mike. That night was crazy and from the sounds of it, Jordan is lucky Mike didn’t kill him. Despite the fact that Jordan reportedly dated Givens before Mike, Rory said Tyson still was bothered by them being together:

 Holloway: It was a circus, for real, that night. Don King trying to change the subject. Me and John trying to hold Mike down. Mike telling everyone he’s going to bust Jordan’s ass. Jordan’s dressed sharp as always and he can’t get out of there fast enough.

As y’all can pretty much imagine, that was a big fiasco…all over Tyson’s love for one woman- Robin. As a reminder of how rocky their marriage was, here’s a brief recap of it: Mike Tyson and Robin Givens married on February 7, 1988.  Tyson has oftentimes painted Givens as a gold digger, while Givens alleged that Tyson was abusive towards her. We all remember that awkward 1988 interview Tyson and Givens did with Barbara Walters… Givens claimed that Tyson had a volatile temper and was scary to be around.

We were just sent a new music video for a new R&B single that has just hit the scene this month. The love interest in the video is played by actress Robin Givens, who is probably equally as known for her acting, as she is for her rocky marriage to Mike Tyson. It seemed a little odd to see her on his video, but all in all, it’s good to see both she and this old school artist back on the scene.

We won’t hold you in suspense any longer, the Old School artist in question is the former original lead singer of the 70’s group, The Village People, a.k.a the “Y.M.C.A.” singers, Victor Willis. Remember the cat who was the policeman in the group? You can probably hear his voice in your head now, sing it with me family: “It’s fun to stay at the YMCA! It’s fun stay at the YMCA-ay!”

Victor’s been off the music scene for many years now and after battling drug addiction and past legal problems, he is back on his grind as and things are really looking up for him now. He even has a biopic movie in the works with the Lifetime Channel, and he’s just revealed that in the movie he will expose which of his former Village People members were actually lip-synching on there records.
Anyways, like I said earlier, it was a pleasant surprise seeing both Victor and Robin back in the game again. Robin’s kind of been out of the loop for a minute and Victor…well, that’s a whole ‘notha story. He has had his fair share of struggles throughout the years, but with his new single it seems as though he has his game face on now, so I’m happy for the brotha.

I have to admit that when I first got wind of his new single, I was like ‘Please don’t let Victor sound crazy on this one.’ It wasn’t that I didn’t think he had talent back in the day…he was a great singer and songwriter, who penned one of the most memorable hit songs of the disco era, “YMCA,” but it was just that I wasn’t sure if he’d gotten rusty since his absence from the music game had been so long. To my relief, Victor is representing the Old School era pretty well in his new single, “Follow Through.” It’s not that it’s the greatest song in the world, but it has a lot of 70’s elements in the background vocals and his style of singing that can really take us Old Schoolers back to the days when life was simple, music was good, when love songs still existed and radio was diverse.
