I Love Old School Music fam’…guess who’s back and giving us all ’90s vibes nostalgia? It’s the cast of “Martin”. After years of rumors, beef, and love lost, our favorite crew reunited for a hilarious spoof at the 2024 Emmys.

Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne II gathered on the iconic sitcom’s recreated set to present Jeremy Allen White with the Lead Actor award for “The Bear.” But that wasn’t all – they also took the opportunity to give the Emmys a little friendly shade for all the years of snubs they received back in the day.

With a photograph of the late Thomas Mikal Ford placed prominently on the table, they paid homage to their fallen cast member. It was a touching moment that reminded us of the love and camaraderie that made “Martin” so special.

And Carl Anthony Payne II fully embraced his “Cole” character, hilariously assuming they were there to snatch an Emmy, not present one.

Now, we all know that “Martin” has been a staple in the Black households long after it went off the air. But it was Tisha Campbell who dropped the mic when she exposed the fact that their beloved ’90s sitcom won an Emmy. The audience couldn’t help but show some love and appreciation for Tisha’s boldness. Do your thing Tisha!

Let’s take a moment to remember the good old days when “Martin” graced our screens from 1992 to 1996. This show was more than just a sitcom – it was a cultural phenomenon. And they had some killer guest stars too, like The Notorious B.I.G., Method Man, and even Tommy Hearns. Remember that episode with MC Hammer? Well, Carl’s hat at the Emmys was a hilarious nod to that iconic moment!

Now, if you’re a true fan, you know that this reunion is another win for Detroit. Just days after the city celebrated its first NFL playoff victory in what seems like forever, the “Martin” crew brought even more joy to the Motor City.

So, let’s raise our glasses to the “Martin” cast for finally putting aside their differences and bringing us all a good laugh. It’s moments like these that remind us why we fell in love with the show in the first place.

Who remembers when “Pam” and “Gina” (Tisha Campbell) were both trying to impress Notorious B.I.G. during one episode and “Pam” decided to sing “Gina’s” name in front of the rap legend, with the hopes he’d recognize her talent. We also can’t forget about that infamous duet she and Brian McKnight performed on the show, during “Martin’s” proposal to “Gina.”

Nowadays, it’s Tichina’s beautiful 17-year-old daughter, Alijah Kai Haggins, who is creating quite a few unforgettable moments of her own with the talents her Moms gifted her. Akilah inherited her mother’s ability to sing and her voice is equally as beautiful. She’s also just won the hearts of many, after Tichina posted video clips of Akilah singing her heart out on Instagram.

FYI: There Will Be No “Martin” Reboot, Says Tichina

On a side note, although most of us “Martin” sitcom fans were keeping our fingers crossed for a reboot of the show, as some of the cast members hinted at years ago, that will never happen. In case y’all haven’t heard, Tichina along with her friend/”Martin” co-star, Tisha Campbell, did an interview with The Grio in April 2021, stickin’ a pin in that whole ‘reboot’ dream, but for an understandable reason. They originally wanted to do a reboot of the show, but after cast member, Tommy passed away in 2016 , they say the whole cast were in agreement that a reboot would never be the same without him:

“It’s something that we wanted to happen, [said Tichina Arnold]. … It’s something that we tried very hard for it to happen, but the way it looks to me, realistically, it’s not going to happen. Not unless it’s an animation.”

Tichina continued:

“I always say a show can never ever be rebooted without the original cast. Now, we may be able to have a rebirth, maybe. As far as a reboot, I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Tommy is no longer with us. The show is never going to be the same. And some things are best left alone.”

In the first Instagram post, Tichina explained that these video clips of her baby singing, were filmed during Christmas, when their family asked Akila to stand and entertain them. Soon as they heard her voice, they all whipped out their phones and started recording…

At that time the cast- Martin Lawrence (Martin), Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold (Pam), Carl Payne (Cole), the late Tommy Ford (Tommy)- all remained hush about why the show ended. Eventually though, rumors began to surface, that it was due to a long standing beef between Martin and Tisha. They were reportedly constantly arguing on the set. It was said to be a beef that was so bad, that by the last season, Tisha and Martin refused to film together, forcing the writers to get really creative with their storylines.

That’s right, after over 20 years, Tisha and Martin have just been publicly spotted together for the first time and they had their co-star/friend, Tichina, were with them too. They were stopped by paparazzi, as they were coming out of Morton’s Steakhouse looking hella happy to be reunited. It was a beautiful thing to see, because they had big smiles on their faces- smiles so big, that it looked like the were hiding some pertinent information. That led the camerawoman to ask them about the Martin Show reboot rumors we’ve been hearing lately. The trio’s reaction to that, is what has fans even more excited.

Regardless of his outgoing persona on stage and in films, Martin is known for being a far more introverted and reserved type of cat in real life, to the surprise of many. Therefore, when the three of them were asked about the Martin reboot, he kept his answer, or lack thereof, short and allowed his two naturally outspoken co-stars take over.

None of them wanted to give a direct answer, but it was clear to see that something is obviously in the works. What was also evident is that Tisha’s and Martin’s friendship has evolved now. Tichina Arnold summed that up best on behalf of all of them, when she said:

“Well, within life there’s always new beginnings, and there’s always change, new plateaus where we have to reach. So we’ll see what happens.”

Then, in true Tisha Campbell fashion, she interjected and kept it real with everybody, when she spontaneously blurted out “We can’t tell y’all SH*T! LOL.” Martin just laughed it off and kept it moving. Check out what else they had to say during their rare reunion in the video above.

It’s great to see the Martin family making amends, but it’s so sad that their good friend/co-star, Tommy Ford didn’t get to see this day. May he continue to rest peacefully.

As far as Ms. Arnold’s recent love-life, she’s still a ‘Miss,’ after her 3 year marriage to her husband, Rico Hines, went all the way left due to infidelity on his part…according to Tichina. These days, it’s no sweat off her back though, she dusted herself off and kept it pushing with her daughter by her side. Tichina can now be seen doing her thing in her new role on Daytime Divas. That’s a new VH-1 sitcom, based on former View talk show host, Star Jones,’ book. Tichina plays a catty talk show host named “Mo Evans.” Also starring in the sitcom is actress/singer, Vanessa Williams…

Saying Goodbye To A Longtime Friend:

On October 22, Tichina Arnold took to Instagram with a photo of the cast following Tommy’s funeral. The photo included a photo of her, Tisha Campbell, and Carl Anthony Payne. In the caption, she explained how difficult it was to lay a good friend to rest. She also did a little damage control explaining why the full cast was not photoed. Although everyone wasn’t in the picture she posted, she made it clear they all were there and there was no love lost:

“Today was not easy..but by the grace of God we all got through it. Words cannot express our gratitude for all of your Prayers, Positive thoughts and Support for us throughout the years. Tommy will be missed but most certainly never forgotten… And PLEASE don’t ask “Where’s Martin?..” he was there too…just not in this picture. Lol! God bless you all.. #LoveConquersAll #MartinShow

Martin remembers Tommy:

Although Martin wasn’t photographed, he has spoken about his relationship with Tommy. Shortly after his death was confirmed, Martin talked with Entertainment Tonight to give fans the real deal – straight from the heart:

“Tommy was not only a great costar, but he was a great mand and friend. He always brought with him his spirituality, a positive attitude, and so much joy. I am sad the world lost a great talent and that I lost a wonderful friend. God bless him and his family.”

Sources very close to Tichina tell us she put Rico Hines on blast with a scathing group text to friends and family, saying … “It’s over between Rico and I. This is where I part ways and all bets are off.” That’s the tame part.

The bombshell? She claims he’s been banging scores of women — sometimes without protection — and she has a sex tape to prove it. Her mass text includes the video and she said, “I can’t for the life of me understand why Rico would video himself f—ing ‘raw dog’ ONE of his MANY extraneous whores that ‘trick’ on him for his money.”

Hines is an assistant basketball coach at St. John’s University.

She also named 20 of the women, who she labels “extraneous Kim Kardashian wanna be’s.”

Tichina says she’s concerned about STDs and plans to get tested. Her rep told People she plans to end the marriage. It’s unclear if she’s filed divorce docs yet.

Hines tells us through a rep, “This is a private and deeply personal matter between my wife and me, and I do not want to comment any further at this time.”

If anyone knows, us “old schoolers” know that “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”. Although Tichinia hasn’t been one to be involved in messy drama, it seems that Tichina is definitely scorned. We hope to report better news for this family in the future, and I’m sure we will all engage in conversations about this ultimately to map better roads for ourselves and our families.
