One look at Tweet today and it’s hard to believe that she is two years shy of 50, with a 29 year old daughter at that. Speaking of her gorgeous daughter, that be’s the the topic of this article. Just like our headline stated, Tweet and her daughter, Shenice, had a rocky mommy-daughter past (we’ll get to that in a minute), but years later they healed from their pain and are now very close.

Enough Is Enough

Tweet has had enough of the church and rumors circulating about her daughter Shenice and has taken to Instagram to clear things up!

The two went to IG live to vent about the church and all of its antics. As you may recall the R&B singer previously dated Pastor Jamal Bryant, the two decided to go their separate ways last year.

She Gave Her Life To Christ

She has since been vocal about how she felt about the church, and how it has turned into a place of business rather than a place of healing. She also spoke on the backlash people gave her for returning to secular music after she gave her life to Christ.

Now what ignited the flame is when her daughter who is an aspiring singer trying to make her mark on the music scene is being targeted by people of the so called “church”. Shenice is also enduring similar struggles as her mother; whether to sing secular music or gospel and how to balance it all while living life as a christian.

Tweet had this advice to give to her daughter:

“Baby girl, speak your truth because I am…”I’m sick of it. Enough is enough. I’m tired. And it’s coming out in the music, it’s coming out in the interviews, it’s coming out. I’m not shading nobody, I’m telling my truth. Church has been the worst. I will NOT do church anymore.”

Shenice decided to open up about her battles and talked about how pastors and deacons would be in her DMs (direct messages), trying to take her out and offer her drinks. Her response would be to remind them of their titles and their leadership roles and let them know that what they are doing is inappropriate.

The 28-year-old daughter of “Oops (Oh My)” songbird, Tweet, discussed some deeply heart-wrenching realities that both she and her mother struggled with. Fortunately, both of these two beautiful ladies (who look more like sisters) have overcome their battles, but NOT before hitting rock bottom.

Tweet and Shenice (formerly known as Tashawna) revealed, on The Lexi Show a few years ago, just how strained their relationship became as a result of Tweet’s past alcohol abuse and what it ultimately caused Shenice to do. After hearing this, we gained a whole new respect for Tweet and her not-so-mini-me, Shenice. Check it out below…

TWEET’S DAUGHTER TELLS WHAT IT WAS LIKE GROWING UP WITH ALCOHOLIC MOTHER

Tweet’s daughter, Shenice, revealed this to Lexi:

“I remember her [Tweet] always being numb and very depressed. She was always intoxicated. I never really saw my Mom sober. […] She was always out, enraged. She went through a very dark period in her life and she was angry with the world…very depressed, VERY depressed.

I thought it [Tweet’s alcoholism] was normal…I just wanted to help my Mom. […] I didn’t know really what was going on, because I just knew she came home and she was gone for years. So when she came home and was home everyday, I didn’t wake up and she was gone, I was happy with that. But I didn’t like the state that she was in, but being 8 and 9, you don’t really know what to do, but just pray…that’s all I really could do.

My grandmother was my rock through all of it. She was my best friend…she taught me everything.”

Shenice continued:

“I would just ask [my Grandmother] why is she so mad at me? I thought it was my fault…because I’m just like ‘My Mom’s not here, I never get to go with her, she’s so mad.’ We [Tweet and her daughter] never really communicated. So I thought it was just me, so my Grandmother would just keep me in her room, put oil on me, and pray LOL. That’s all we really knew to do- was pray at the time. […] She didn’t wanna tell me anything either because I was young. So she just told me to pray.”

TWEET EXPLAINS HARDSHIPS THAT LED TO HER ALCOHOL ADDICTION BEGAN

Tweet was a part of Devante Swing’s (of Jodeci) group, Sugah, from 1994 to 2000 and after no success, she left and moved back home with her parents and her daughter and that’s what sparked her alcohol addiction:

“Nothing was coming up [no job]…didn’t have any money, and I remember my father had this old Lincoln. You know the Lincoln where the seats you to pull out and you could find the change in there? Change! I used to get the change and go and buy a 40. And that’s how I started drinking and drinking, and I put all of my problems into a bottle.

Nothing was working out, so that was my solution. [I] started getting very depressed, thinking suicidal, I had it all planned out.[…] I wanted the easy way out, I don’t wanna stab myself or anything like that. ‘Let’s just take some pills…and not wake up.'”

DAUGHTER WAS ‘ADDICTED’ TO BEING BULIMIC & CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE

Shenice explained how she became addicted to being skinny and having to look a certain way to hopefully please others:

“It all goes back to me feeling rejected…I dealt with that from a young age, even with my Dad. […] I just didn’t know what to do. Then “America’s Next Top Model” comes out and I’m watching and this girl is losing so much weight. […] I began to overly eat and then binge. […]I got down to 99 pounds as well. In the 10th grade, that’s when it started and it went all the way up to my freshman year in college.”

Tashawna also revealed that she actually attempted suicide and ended up in a mental hospital for a while.

THEY’RE IN A BETTER SPACE NOW

Thankfully they’ve fully overcome their addictions and have mended their mother/daughter relationship, which they say is a work in progress. “Oops (Oh My)” songstress, Tweet, has finally resurfaced after undergoing a life threatening medical emergency and her fans couldn’t be happier to hear from her.

Recap Of Tweet’s Medical Emergency

As we previously reported, Tweet’s boyfriend/megachurch pastor and activist, Jamal Bryant shared, on Instagram, that she was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday (August, 29, 2017) for two blood clots in her lungs and her right arm:

Tweet’s daughter, Shenice had also asked everyone to pray for her mother after doctors informed them that Tweet had blood clots:

WHY THEY’RE BLASTING THE ORGANIZATIONS

Bryant’s and T.I.’s posts come after news broke Wednesday (8-30-17), that Red Cross had pretty much screwed Haiti during their deadly earthquake disaster in 2010. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, recently led a yearlong investigation into Red Cross’ reported funding of the Haiti earthquake that now has many questioning if the organization will fully help Harvey victims:

Via NPR: Grassley… said in an interview that even after a year of back-and-forth with the Red Cross, “we did not get satisfactory answers — like pulling teeth, it was very difficult.” The Red Cross, including [Red Cross CEO Gail] McGovern, repeatedly has told the public that all but 9 percent of donations spent go to humanitarian programs. But Grassley’s office found that 25 percent of donations sent to Haiti — or nearly $125 million — were spent on fundraising and management, a contingency fund and the catchall category the Red Cross calls “program expenses.” […] The venerated charity raised nearly $500 million after the disaster, more than any other nonprofit, but an ambitious plan to build housing resulted in just six permanent homes, NPR and ProPublica found.

Another Red Cross executive, Brad Kieserman, was also grilled on Morning Editon, about exactly how much will now go to relief efforts- such as Hurricane Harvey victims- from money donated to Red Cross and he decided to play a game of dodge ball with his answer:

“I wish I could answer your question, but it’s not something I have visibility on in the role that I play in this organization,” said

“If It Wasn’t For Missy, Tweet Might Not Be Alive Today.”

Tweet, who was born Charlene Keys, once found herself at rock bottom. Struggling to survive in the music game, she found refuge in her friend and musical collaborator, Missy Elliot. At this year’s Essence Festival (2017), Tweet performed and she also opened about how Missy saved her life.

Tweet On What Missy Did For Her After Depression Drover Her To Alcoholism

In an interview with Sirius XM’s ‘Heart and Soul,’ Tweet sat down and shared how she met Missy Elliot.  She started her career as a member of the girl group, Sugah – a trio that never released an album, but was a part of the Devante Swing’s (of Jodeci), Swing Mob clique. Remember when Devante had the a helluva musical empire with Swing Mob? His label birthed stars such as Ginuwine, Timbaland, and Missy Elliott.

“I met Missy in ’94. We both were in a crew with DeVante from Jodeci.  He had this whole crew with Timbaland, Missy, Playa, Ginuwine, myself,” Tweet told Heart and Soul.

It was later revealed that working for the the mega producer, Devante, was not easy and it came with many challenges. In Timbaland’s memoir, The Emperor of Sound, he shared how working with DeVante was like being in prison. They were made to work long hours without proper compensation, nor rest.

“We would go for days without eating,” Timbaland recalled in his memoir. “We would be woken up in the middle of the night to run crazy errands. We were knocked around, kicked around, and beat down.”

Eventually, Missy had enough and she split. Tweet was heartbroken over that and wondered where her career would take her. Feeling discouraged, Tweet shared how she felt after learning Missy said ‘Peace out’ to Swing Mob back then:

“So, she left to become who she is. Around 1999, she left the group and I was contemplating taking my life,” Tweet admitted to the Essence Fest’ audience during her ‘Heart and Soul’ interview.

Believing that her musical career would not happen, Tweet got a call that would change her life. Missy contacted Tweet with an amazing opportunity:

“Just at that moment, Missy called. We had lost contact for like five years. She called me and said, ‘I need you to be on this record.’ I’m like ‘whatever,’ Tweet admitted. She sent a car and I went to L.A. and then that same visit, I got my deal. Then ‘Oops‘ came out the next year. … When I tell you, ‘Put your trust in God,’ he’ll turn things around for you,’ I’m a witness.”

Tweet’s debut album, Southern Hummingbird, which was produced by Elliott and Timbaland, was a hit, landing No. 3 on the Billboard 200. However, her musical success was short lived because her follow-up album unfortunately bombed. Fans originally were really diggin’ Tweet’s soulful sound on her first album, whereas her second album was more hip hop and that could have been too much for her fans to adjust to from her at that time. That’s when Tweet found herself in a deep depression again:

“I was at my wits’ end. I was drinking every day, smoking three packs of cigarettes. It was like, ‘Come on, this can’t be life,’” Tweet admitted to Los Angeles Times while sharing the spiritual journey that led her back to recording and yielded her third album.

This time, it wasn’t Missy who saved her life, but her fans. Wanting to give up, Tweet’s fans consistently contacted her to let her know that she was loved and missed in the music industry. Tweet was encouraged that she touched the lives of others and she was ready to come back:

“I wanted to give up. People sending me tweets, saying they wanted me back, that kept me. It inspired me. It told me maybe I made a difference in someone’s life and I shouldn’t stop. I was inspired by that.”

Unsure if she wanted to perform again, Tweet released her long-awaited third studio album, Charlene, in 2015 to rave reviews from fans, reminding us all why she’s one of the most talented artists to pick up a mic.

The Preacher’s co-host is now in contempt of court after his baby mama, LaToya Odom, put him on blast in recently filed legal documents. She recently filed legal docs asking the judge to lock Pastor Bryant up for failing to maintain certain court-ordered payments for their toddler son, John Bryant. According to new reports, it looks like Ms. Odom just got her wish…unless Bryant pays up really fast. Check out the details below…

Via TheJasmineBrand: Jamal Bryant was found in contempt of court, for his failure to obtain medical insurance for his child, along with failing to pay for expenses. […] On June 6th, the judge came back with his decision on the matter. The order states the issues that Bryant’s baby mama (LaToya Odom) raised were Bryant failing to pay child support on time, failure to provide medical & life insurance and failure to pay 75% of the uninsured medical expenses. … After reviewing the evidence, he found Bryant did not pay his child support untimely. However, he noted that he did fail to obtain medical & life insurance for his kid and failed to pay 75% of the medical expenses. … Bryant was ordered to pay $2,240.19 + $1,018.12 for a grand total of $3,258.31, then he will be purged of contempt.

As we previously reported, Bryant previously asked the judge not to lock him up, because he said LaToya was lying about him failing to pay child support and now it seems that he was right about that part. But in the words of his girlfriend, Tweet, he apparently had an “Oops!” by mistakenly (or maybe intentionally) skipping a few checks for his kid’s medical and life insurances. If the pastor knows what’s best for him though, he’ll be putting his ‘John Hancock’ on a check in LaToya’s name REAL soon. Unless he wants to be sitting in county jail singing gospel hymns with some big dude named ‘Bubba.’ I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid.

LaToya is reportedly now trying to get Bryant locked up for quite a few things she’s alleging. Meanwhile, Bryant is saying she’s lying big time. Check out what was reported below:

Via TheJasmineBrand: Jamal’s baby mama, LaToya Odom, went to court demanding the pastor be found in contempt of court. She says he has refused to follow the court order. She accused him of not providing her with his address for their son’s medical card, nor has she received policies and he is periodically late on his payments to her. She says she wants a revised court order to make sure he pays on time. LaToya sought to have the pastor thrown in jail for contempt until he purges himself of said contempt.

On May 15th, Jamal responded, denying he refused to follow the court order. He is pleading with the judge NOT to throw him in jail for contempt, saying he did not disobey the court order. Further, he is seeking to have his LaToya pay his legal fees for even having to defend himself against her motion for contempt.

This isn’t the first time they’ve been in court over their son, John Bryant. In 2016, LaToya took the pastor to court, demanding child support. At that time, Jamal Bryant made it known that he’d been making regular payments to LaToya, but said that after she started harassing him, he stopped paying, with the hopes that a judge could better mediate their situation.

Many of you may recall the media firestorm a couple years ago, when word first got out that the then single Pastor Bryant had randomly fathered a child with a woman who was not his wife, nor even his girlfriend. Many within the Christian community were giving him hell over it, while many others were supporting him for at least taking care of his responsibilities to support he and LaToya’s then newborn son.

Soon after that, he and Tweet became a serious couple and are still going strong to this day. Many people were surprised by their union. In the beginning of their relationship, both Bryant and Tweet caught flack from some Christians who believed that the pastor shouldn’t be ‘coupled up’ with an R&B singer who sang lyrics like “Oops, there goes my shirt all over my head “Oops!/ Oops! There goes my skirt droppin’ to my feet, oh my/ Oh! Some kind of touch caressing my legs,…” and so on. Tweet admitted that the judgement was hurtful, but that as a self-proclaimed Christian, she knows her heart and her dedication to her faith, and so does her man. Fast forward to today and Tweet and Pastor Bryant are ‘STIIIILL together,’ just like ‘Mr. and Mrs. Brooks’ on In Living Color…

Only time will tell if Bryant’s baby momma is successful in her attempts to get him locked up or not. We’ll keep you posted.
