In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, found himself in hot water after making remarks about singer, Monica, potentially opening for his sister, Brandy, on a tour. However, Monica was not pleased with his comments and took to social media to address the issue. Well, now, in a new interview on the “Way Up With Angela Yee Show,” Ray J issued an apology to Monica with the quickness.

Ray J’s Apology To Monica

Ray J wasted no time in apologizing to Monica after she called him out publicly. He expressed his intention to reach out to her directly and said, “Monica, if I said anything wrong, I apologize.” He acknowledged her talent, stating, “You are a great artist, you and Brandy have made history together. All I want to do is just kind of shake it up a little bit to get y’all together to see … that should be one of those last wave tours.”

Ray J emphasized that his goal was to give the world what they want – a Brandy and Monica tour. He further expressed his respect for Monica, assuring her that he had nothing but admiration for her. He clarified that he hadn’t discussed the possibility of a tour with Brandy either.

What Had Happened Was…

In case y’all missed Ray J’s original tour hype that got Monica heated, Ray stated:

“I mean, of course Monica would have to open, right? … Somebody has to come out first. Brandy ain’t having that, either.”

Soon afterwards, Monica, seemed pissed with Ray J’s comments and requested a private conversation to address the matter respectfully. She made it clear that she had not received any contracts or calls about a tour and was tired of her name being discussed without her authorization:

“I’ve been repeatedly contacted about interviews, etc. where my name and tour possibilities are being discussed! I’ve not received any contracts or calls about said tour! … I’m kindly asking you to stop speaking to me in public! A private conversation would be both necessary and respectful!” – Monica

She also expressed her deep respect for Brandy as a legendary artist with an extensive catalog:

“Brandy is a LEGEND! She’s one of one with an extensive catalog that I deeply respect and a voice sent from heaven!”

Monica suggested that they approach the idea of a tour in a positive and beautiful manner. Rather than opening for each other, she proposed giving another artist the opportunity and operating as co-headliners. She emphasized the importance of professionalism and expressed her desire to maintain a harmonious relationship throughout the process:

“The conversation being had without she and I is beginning to muddy the waters severely! She and I are both consummate professionals [who] share a massive recording as well as an entire era! Please allow this to remain positive and beautiful! Neither should open. We should give someone else that opportunity and co-headline a massive shared stage if this is ever to happen! Any further [conversation] should be private!”

Although Brandy and Monica have had a rocky history with one another, they have since reportedly apologized to each other and appear to be on good terms.

As of now, there has been no public response from Brandy regarding Ray J’s comments or the potential tour. The fans, meanwhile, are divided on the matter.

At the end of the day, Ray J is a businessman who’s been known to stir up controversy in order to drum up hype surrounding various business ventures of his…and oftentimes, it’s worked for him. So, although it remains to be seen whether a Brandy and Monica tour will become a reality, it seems Ray J is already off to a great start, as far as building hype around any potential of that happening in the future. Now he just has to get Brandy and Monica on board with him, which may prove a tad difficult at the moment.

There’s an interesting video circulating on social media and it shows the end of Brandy’s performance where the crowd was singin’ “The Boy Is Mine” acapella. When Brandy chimed back in, she sang, “The song is mine. I gotta claim what’s mine. If I don’t got the boy, I’ve got the song. You know what I’m saying?” As expected, the questionable lyrics caught the attention of fans and now there are tons of questions about why she’d bring up all the buried drama again. Fans are also wonderin’ how Monica feels about the subliminal jab. Now after lots of chatter about the performance, Monica seems to be makin’ her stance clear.

Yesterday, Monica took to Instagram with a photo of her self that had a fairly interesting caption. Wearing pajamas, slides, and shades, Monica captioned the photo, “I conduct myself in the manner I would like to be remembered!! Brandy Takes Shots At Monica At The Essence Festival:

Even though their 1998 song, “The Boy Is Mine,” was a hit, it reportedly sparked negative energy between the two ladies and the energy is seemingly still there to this day. At one point, it appeared as if Monica and Brandy had let sleeping dogs lie, but apparently, Brandy’s still in her feelings. Keeping the beef going during her recent Essence Fest performance, it appeared that Brandy took some shots at Monica.

While singing their song, “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy switched changed up the lyrics. She performed the song acapella and caused confusion when she said to the audience, “The Song Is Mine. I gotta claim what’s mine. If I don’t got the boy, I’ve got the song. You know what I’m saying?”

Recently, Monica sat down with ESSENCE Now studio ,where she shared whether or not she would ever work with Brandy again.

Monica Speaks On Working With Her Alleged R&B Rival, Brandy:

In an interview with ESSENCE Now Studio, Monica was asked if she would ever work with her alleged R&B rival, Brandy. Always a class act, Monica paid homage to Brandy placing her among the musical greats:

Trouble In Paradise:

According to TMZ, Brandy and Sonja Norwood did show their support on Friday to Ray J and Princess, by attending the gender reveal party. The party revealed that Ray J and Princess are having a girl. However, at the party, things reportedly became tense between the women, after Ray J’s alleged cheating was mentioned. Brandy and Sonja are said to have confronted Princess Love about tweets that she supposedly made that seemed to reference cheating on Ray J’s part. The Norwood women were trying to come to Ray J’s aide, Princess apparently told the women to stay out of their marriage. So, the women decided not to attend the baby shower that was being held on Saturday. While Ray J’s father, Willie Norwood Sr., attended the shower, Brandy and Sonja were missing in action.

Brandy Apologizes But Is Dragged By Princess:

After rumors were circulating that Brandy and her mother, Sonja, didn’t attend Princess’ baby shower, Brandy took to Instagram to apologize. While sources reported that Brandy didn’t attend the shower due to an argument, Brandy disputed those claims. Mentioning that she attended the gender reveal, Brandy claims that she missed the shower due to a scheduled performance. It’s no question that Brandy loves her brother, because their bond is evident. The R&B songstress posted a photo of Princess and Ray J with a heartfelt caption, but Princess dissed it, telling her sister-in-law to “shut the F up.” She also threatened to expose a text message that Brandy sent her.

Is Ray J A Changed Man?

Back in January, “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” stars, Princess Love and Ray J, appeared to be having trouble in their marriage. It all started when Princess Love posted a meme, that has since been deleted, which implied that Ray J was possibly unfaithful. On her Instagram page, in black and white letters, Princess Love posted a meme that left many of her followers wondering if her marriage with Ray J is in trouble. In addition to the meme, Princess posted a caption alluding to the fact that she was no longer able to be fooled. Many people wondered if she was talking about Ray J.

Interestingly enough, Princess Love never stated why she was upset with Ray J, many people believed that Princess was upset when a video surfaced of Ray J in a hotel room. In the video, Ray J was seen walking around in a towel and many people believe that a woman was seen in the video. While airing their problems on social media, Princess Love posted another meme, stating that people shouldn’t take sides in an argument, especially if they know nothing about the argument. Princess didn’t state who she was referring to, but it appears that she may have been referencing her in-laws, Brandy and Sonja Norwood. Well, one of Princess’ followers, @athoughtaday_17, encouraged Princess to stop airing her business on social media and to discuss her problems with Ray in private. Princess responded that she would love to take her advice but she’s been unable to do so at that time, because she revealed that she had not seen her husband in a week.

On his Instagram page, Ray J posted a picture of himself on a  private plane, starring out of a window. He took to Instagram to post his thoughts, which informed fans that he was doing everything right. Ray J shared that he was not going to allow anyone to break him down and that he was going to keep God first. Letting the world know that she has his back, Ray J’s sister, Brandy, reposted his photo, stating that she knows the man that Ray J is.

Fans may have thought Brandy was throwing shade at Monica again because she referred to Whitney Houston as her fairy Godmother. In case you forgot, when Monica appeared on Oprah’s Where Are They Now, she talked about her relationship with Whitney Houston, referring to the late icon as her “fairy godmother” and adding that she was like that for many people. Monica described that when she was in a dark place and like a “fairy Godmother”, Whitney physically came to Atlanta to ensure that she was okay.

There are three types of celebs when it comes to social media: (1) Celebrities who run clean away from social media, which in my opinion is horrible because that puts them in the out-of-sight-out-of-mind category in this day and age. (2) Celebs who utilize social media on the regular, but do not engage with their fans. (3)  The few celebs who not only post on social media, but sometimes interact with their fans on there. Those are my favorite types of celebrities, because they prove they’re not cowards who are afraid to speak directly to the public without a buffer, nor filter. Brandy Norwood falls in this category and on Friday (7-21-17) she proved it once again.

Why Fans Blasted Brandy Over Mariah

Apparently, fans were caught off guard by Brandy’s Instagram post, which was a throwback photo of her hugging Mariah Carey. She captioned her photo “#SheKnowsMe,” which many fans quickly assumed to be a shady message toward Mariah. Why? Well it’s because Mariah has often gotten called out for the times she’s blatantly thrown shade at Jennifer Lopez throughout their years-long rumored beef. In past interviews, whenever Mariah was asked about Jennifer Lopez, she’d say “I don’t know her” but then she’d go on to praise other artists, like Beyonce’ (as shown in the video clip below).

Brandy was accused of trying to send the message that Mariah may act like she doesn’t know her (Brandy), but she does. Comments were soon left all up and down Brandy’s post, from fans who were telling her she was wrong for stepping into the JLo-Mariah tension to throw shade. Yes, people were reaching a lil’ bit with that one, but it is what it is.

Brandy quickly clapped back with a classic response. She edited her original post to include this message…

Afterwards, some fans praised her response and others still thought she was shady. Brandy even took the time to personally address a few of those commenters to further explain her point.

It seemed like Brandy and Sir The Baptist were moving in the right direction. Things seemed to be going so well with Brandy and Sir The Baptist, that many people thought the former Moesha star was pregnant with his mini-me. She had shared a photo Instagram of herself with what fans thought might have been the start of a baby bump. During an interview with The Grio, the gospel singer and rapper shared that he and Brandy had a great time recording their record together because she embodied what it takes to be a good woman.

The two solidified their romance by recording the track called “Good Ole Church Girl,” with Sir The Baptist proclaiming, “I got Brandy and Jay got Beyoncé.” While the Chicago native gushed over his new woman, the track was a celebration of good women everywhere.

According to Bossip,  a close source informed them that Sir The Baptist secretly has two kids and a baby’s mother that he never told Brandy about. It was also reported that was the reason Brandy allegedly broke up with him- for withholding information. According to that same report, the babies’ mother and children of Sir The Baptist allegedly showed up at the Essence Fest’ where both Sir and Brandy were in attendance. OUCH!

In addition, Sir The Baptist went live on Instagram while at the Essence Festival. During the live feed, a fan asked him about Brandy and his reported response was a lil’ shady. With a woman at his side, Sir The Baptist didn’t act as if he was in a relationship.

“I don’t know where Brandy at fam, she’s at home somewhere,” said Sir on Instagram Live. “We good, you don’t have to ask about Brandy every time.”

As paparazzi walked with Ray J. through the airport this morning (6-3), he was calmly talking and walking with his dog clinging to his shoulder. Ray stated that he’d rushed to be with Brandy soon after he found out she was unconscious. He also said that later that night, he and Brandy chilled in the studio together until 4:30 a.m. and that she ‘just needs rest.’

To further help his sis, this morning he was flying out to an event where Brandy was supposed to have appeared, to perform in her place so that the fans can still have a good time, and so the venue will not lose any revenue from having to cancel the event altogether.
